This is probably one of my favorite stops at Pike Place. I love walking passed their stall because they provide such quality products here. Their cherries enclosed with chocolate are so delicious. They have unique flavors like chardonnay and others. The cherry chocolates are all very big (not dinky little chocolate bites). The people working here are all pretty nice who offer you multiple samples to try. They usually are really generous and allow you to sample all their cherry chocolate varieties. The merchandise are slightly over-priced by 2 or 3 dollars. Each bag of chocolates cost about $9-$10. I've seen other chocolates with fruit inside sold for $7-$8. I suppose it has to be marked up a bit because it is located in such a prime area. read more

The Chukar Cherries origin story I imagine is a lot like the story of the first person who ever tried to eat an oyster. Company founder Pam Montgomery one day basically decided to try some shriveled up, going bad cherries on her family's cherry tree orchard and luckily found that the cherries had become chewy over time and had sweetened in their own natural juices. Many innovations later, Chukar Cherries was born. On the main floor of the market, we returned to their stand twice twice and wound up getting 10 bags of varying flavors with intentions to give them away as souvenirs. That didn't happen because I am a greedy hoarder. Dark chocolate covered cherries, dark chocolate covered walnuts were the best of the lot. read more

AMAZING PLACE!! I recently received a Honey Pecans Milk Chocolate as a gift from my friend and WOW they're soo good!! I usually don't eat chocolates much, but this one is a fav! Will definitely stop by to grab a couple bags more ^^ read more

Ordered $100 basket for SO as a holiday gift 12 days in advance, Chukar Cherries didn't deliver it on the date they had me pick. I know their cherries and stuff are good tasting, just not convinced this was a UPS problem. read more

all the times we've visited Seattle we have never tried a chukars cherries, now it's a must stop when we go back. we took a few bags back with us, but the one that was a little sad when we had the last cherry was their black forest with dark chocolate and cocoa. this is a must have and i don't think we can wait till our next trip back where an online order is a must. read more

Chukar Cherries in Pike Place Market - 3 Stars: a Seattle fixture for years, with a location right in the Pike Place Market walkway. Chukar makes great chocolate covered cherries...perfect for gifts for when you return home. If you walk the Pike Place Market you will walk right by these guys...give them a taste. read more

WARNING: It's a trap! The friendly gals behind the counter lure you in with their free samples of delicious varieties of dried cherries and once you snag a bite, you won't be able to leave. What's worse is that they'll keep feeding you samples of everything they have while they just watch and wait...wait for that one little treat that lights a spark and then they know...they've got you hooked. I really didn't want to fork over $9.50 for a little bag of dried rainier cherries, but I couldn't walk away with nothing. I don't know what they add to their cherries, but it's like crack candy. I bought 2 bags because you get a discount with the more bags you purchase. Again, sneaky sneaky! If you desire something more rich and decadent, they have these mocha latte espresso beans that are seriously to die for. And to top it off, they gave me a coupon for $5 off an online purchase. Curses!! These people are smart. And I'm just a sucker for good food. read more

I'm sorry that I didn't get to spend much time here while I was roaming Pike Place Market, but I am glad that I did purchase some chocolate-covered cherries to bring back home as souvenirs. Granted, I bought some of the cherries at the Space Needle gift shop and some at the "Made in Washington" shop at the airport, but they were a great hit with the family and friends back home. I just wish that I had paid more attention to this stand because they did have free samples. My favorite are the plain milk chcocolate covered cherries- I'm afraid I'm a little addicted to this babies! Good chocolate that melts slowly plus a juicy dried cherry in the center- its a wonder I haven't inhaled the entire bag yet. Next time I'm in Seattle, I'm loading up on Chukar's products and hoping it all fits in my carry-on. read more

I really can't give Chukar Cherries anything less than 5 stars. You KNOW it's good when you try a sample and then actually buy a bag. That RARELY happens to me. I can usually resist. But I just couldn't resist the Milk Chocolate Bing Cherries on my recent trip to Seattle. My fiancé, friend, and I meandered through Pike Place Market, and we stumbled upon this gem. Who am I kidding? I knew that we were heading right to Chukar Cherries. After all, my friend had just gone on the Savor Seattle tour and received a 10% off coupon for any of the tour stops for a couple weeks after the tour. And, if you've read enough of my reviews, you know that I have a serious sweet tooth. We had to follow up that crumpet (http://www.yelp.com/biz/the-crumpet-shop-seattle#hrid:RJi5MhiPMPetEapQUrnc6Q/src:self) with something sweet! The staff were really friendly, and they didn't hesitate to provide a free sample if you asked. I tried the Milk Chocolate Bing Cherries -- wow! The chocolate and cherries tasted incredibly fresh, unlike other chocolate covered cherries I've tried in the past. I also tried a White Chocolate Blueberry, which had a more subtle flavor for those who don't want a rich chocolate treat. Finally, I also tried their Dark Chocolate Black Forest Cherry, which was a bit more rich and included a cocoa dusting, too. At nearly $10/bag, they are worth every penny, especially since the ingredients are local and natural. You can be sure I'll stop by again on a future visit.....Ooooh, they have a website, and they ship......hmmmm........ read more

You know how these guys get you? With their free samples! If you don't want to buy chocolate covered cherries then do not take their free samples, no matter what you do! I was strolling around Pike's Market and happened to stop and wait for some friends to catch up in front of this stand. I casually glanced at the display of rows and rows of chocolate covered cherries in little bags. The very nice girl with a great taste in fashion said "Hey, nice monkey hat!" Flattered, I beamed at her and said, "Thanks!" Then she said, "Would you like a free sample of our cherries?" And of COURSE I said yes, please give me the truffle cherry (a Bing cherry dipped in creamy milk chocolate with a sweet cocoa finish). I popped it in my mouth, thinking I had suckered a free sample from the lady and that was that. Instead, to my great surprise, I heard myself say, "I would like a bag of these cherries!" It really was perfect. The chocolate was smooth and creamy (just as it was advertised!) and was a most perfect complement to the slightly sour cherry inside. So delicious. You get a discount for buying 2 bags (but not much). If you want a larger discount, Duke C. got one by buying multiple boxes. Perfect gifts for other people! I think I will definitely be ordering more online in the future. read more

I first stumbled upon Chukar Cherries in Seattle the day after Christmas '05. Pike's Place was a mob scene. Everyone and their mother was trundling through. Looking for belated gifts or stanky old potpourri. I saw free chocolate and ducked over to the cherry stall. I snacked on one of everything; lost track of time and family. Ah, well. Their loss; more for me! Since then, I've bought every manner of cherry and mailed delicious gifts to the deserving. I hate that shipping is, at a minimum, $7.95 -- even for a bag of cherries that nearly cost the same.* But hot damn! Bite the bullet and pony up, because the chocolate and the cherries are reeeeeeeally good. No sulfites in the dried berries! (Sulfites make me sad inside.) All-time favorites tend to include those dusted with cocoa powder or berry powder. 5-STARS White Chocolate Berry Truffle: Dried cranberries coated in white chocolate, dusted with raspberry powder. Bright notes of berry with a buttery undercurrent. Festive color! Black Forest Chocolate Cherry: Sweet dried cherries coated in bittersweet chocolate, dusted with dark cocoa powder. Truffley. Very well-balanced, clean finish. 4.5-STARS Amaretto Rainier Chocolate Cherry: Rainier cherries with natural amaretto flavor, coated with dark chocolate. Amaretto sweetness is only barely detectable. Milk Chocolate Cherry: Dried cherries coated with milk chocolate. Buttery, creamy, a likely crowd-pleaser. Bing Chocolate Cherry: Sweet dried Bing cherries coated in naturally red milk chocolate. Sweetness is certainly there, but cut with tart, floral notes. Pinot Noir Chocolate Cherry: Tart Montmorency cherries coated in dark chocolate. Richer, deeper flavors -- raisiny, almost nutty. Dark Chocolate Cocoa Pecan: Honey-roasted pecans coated in dark chocolate, dusted with cocoa powder. Reminds me of a crisp kind of caramel. Milk Chocolate Honey Pecan: Honey-roasted pecans coated in milk chocolate. Sugary, and only a little less delicious. Mocha Latte Espresso Bean: Roasted coffee beans coated with milk chocolate, dusted with sweet cocoa powder. Buttery, nutty, no bitter aftermath. 4-STARS Cabernet Chocolate Cherry: Tart Montmorency cherries coated with semi-sweet chocolate and red wine flavor. Tangy, sweet, with a slightly cloying finish. Truffle Chocolate Cherry: Dried cherries coated in milk chocolate and dusted in sweet cocoa powder. Slightly sweeter than I prefer. The cocoa powder dusting is nice, though. 3.75-STARS Chocolate Orchard Berries: Dried cherries and berries coated with French-style white chocolate. The white chocolate is creamy and not too sweet, flavored with the essence of lemon, lime, or berry. Lemon and lime flavored white chocolates are my favorite. Dark Chocolate Vanilla Almond: Crunchy roasted almonds coated in dark chocolate and vanilla flavor. Good but not remarkable. Double-Dipped Macadamia Nut: Roasted Macadamia nuts double-dipped in milk chocolate. Also good but not remarkable. 3-STARS White Chocolate Blueberry: Dried blueberries coated in white chocolate. Decent but indistinct. Blueberries did not taste overtly blueberry-ish. * Signing up on their e-mail list will very occasionally yield free shipping or a bonus box of delicious something-something. But Garden of Eden (14th St, NYC) carries select Chukar items, so no more onerous shipping costs for me. Yay! Dunno how fresh or dessicated GoE's cherries are, tho'. Hafta report on that later ... read more

Nice little stand inside Pikes Place. They are known for their chocolate covered cherries and man are they addicting! The chocolate is so rich and yummy, with the cherries inside, too good! A co-worker of mine from FL realized she left her bag of Seattle treats in the Atlanta airport and frantically called to ask if someone could go the market and get some replacements for her. My manager and I gladly volunteered. One stop was to Chukars for some chocolate covered cherries, while we were trying to figure out which ones to get her we were given a sample the Chocolate Amaretto Rainier Cherry, oh soooo good we decided to get her those and pick up a bag of the Dark Chocolate Pinot Noir Cherries and I can not stop eating them, somebody please come take them away from me pronto! read more

I saw all the reviews on the cherries so I knew I wanted to grab some while I was here. The truffle cherry is SO good!! It reminds me of Ben and Jerry's Cherry Garcia ice cream!! I also got the cherry blossom which is dark and white chocolate, dyed in a light pink pretty color. There are samples here waiting for you. You can try several different flavors... they are willing to hand you any one you choose. They are really addicting. They also carry other items that are cherry, like salsas and jams and other dried fruits as well :) read more

We wouldn't dare to go back home empty-handed. Us Japanese folks have this "omiyage" (gift) tradition ingrained in the brain. The trick is find something unique to the place you're visiting that we can't find back at home. Chukar Cherries fit the bill nicely! It's a bit expensive, but a discount is offered if you buy four bags. Bought four different kinds based on the recommendations of fellow shopper who said she's been a customer for years and has tried all the different flavors. Black Forest, Cabernet, Bridge Mix and Truffles. Great gift items! read more

I absolutely ADORE this place! It is a small booth/stand area inside the Pike Place Market, and they specialize in chocolate covered cherries and nuts, but have a few other cool things! All their cherries come from their Cherry farm and are all natural! Some of the Cherry concoctions I did get to try are: Dark chocolate cabernet cherries- these are the most popular chocolate cherries they sell, and I know why! Delish! Cherry Peach Salsa- oh my GEE! This is probably one of the most unique cherry creations they carry, but don't let the name fool you! It is AMAZING! I got to try it with tortilla chips, and it is AMAZING! I regret not going back to get a bottle! Powdered almond- I regret that I forgot the name of this nut, but I believe it is one of their best sellers. It was a hazelnut powdered almond if I can remember, but all I remember was it was THE BEST. TOP NOTCH! There was another one that I regret I forgot, but it was a white chocolate cherry. That had to be my favorite! Okay, I probably am not helping because I'd rather you go there and buy a few bags of different chocolate covered cherries with the cherry salsa, sit down, and have a CHERRYLICIOUS SNACK! read more

Let me preface this review with: I do NOT like cherries. In fact, all cherries I've met, I didn't like. But the Chukar Cherries? Ah-maze-balls. I shamelessly stopped by the Chukar Cherries counter every time I was at Pike Place Market. But don't worry, I didn't leave empty handed -- I ended up with one half pound bag of Black Forest cherries and another half pound bag of Cabernet cherries. You can't go wrong with ANY of the cherries here so go on -- stop by their counter, take a sample (or five!), and take some home with you. You will NOT regret it! read more

Pike Place Market is the perfect place to buy gifts for family back home while visiting. I really despise Cotlets and smoked salmon..so I scoured the market for food that would keep that would be representative of the Pacific Northwest. Chukar Cherries did not disappoint. They are frigging delicious! P.S. They offer a ton of samples and we received $1 off for every 2 bags that we bought. read more

These cherries are soooooooooooo good. We stopped here during our visit to the Pike Place market and they offer free samples (awesome!). It worked too, because I ended up buying two bags of chocolate cherries. I'm also super psyched that they ship, because I can totally see using these as gifts for pretty much anyone who I can't think of things to buy for. I would guess the reason they are so good is a combination of the sweeter variety of cherries they grow in combination with the fact that they make their own chocolate to use in the candies, Awesome! read more

I placed an an order through their website for Valentines Day. I had them shipped to my boyfriend's workplace. Unfortunately, upon delivery the box was stolen and they were not delivered to his desk. I called Chukar's customer service number explained the situation to Maria in customer service and asked if I could get a discount if I placed another order. I was told that there were no promotions available and could not offer any discounts. She said she could place another order, but no discount would be offered. I'm very dissapointed, that they don't have discounts available when things like this happen. Their products are very expensive as it is and I was not even asking to get get it for free, just a discount. In my mind this makes for very bad customer service..... Jeanette S. read more

I was introduced to this place on a food tour. Now mind you, I am not a huge cherry fan, but still found their cherries really delicious. You should keep in mind that they have MANY different kinds of cherries. The ladies behind the counter are always super friendly and will let you sample the cherries before you buy them. If you're not the adventurous type, then you should try their Bing cherry (which is pretty mainstream and very delicious). If you're feeling more adventurous and can't make up your mind, I would highly recommend getting a variety pack. My mother bought it for me as an anniversary gift and I really enjoyed it (although it is hard to eat THAT many cherries). You'd be hard-pressed to not find at least several enjoyable cherries from that pack, although you might need someone to share it with :) Regardless of how delicious their cherries are, my obsession with this place is their cherry salsa. SO delicious and unique; there's really no other way to describe it. I just wish it was bigger. As a side note, lots of places sell their cherries around the Seattle area, so if you change your mind later and want some more, you can always go to a local grocery store and pick some up. Finally, my only big complaint for this place is that their items are really expensive. Their cherry salsa is about $10, as are their bags of cherries. If they could get the price down, I would rate them higher. read more

You better believe I'm giving this place 5 freakin' stars!! The women who work here are all really nice & they totally sell their products as if they did it all themselves! I picked up their Chocolate Cherry Assortment box, Extra Dark Choc Pinot Noir Cherry bag, Extra Dark Choc Cabernet Cherry bag, & Milk Choc Honey Pecan bag - all were given as samples, so I know I made the right choices!! They also have a website & catalog that you can order from, if you can't make the trip to Seattle! read more

So many cherries, so little time. The lady that worked this place was so friendly!!! If you see something you like here, let her know and she will pull out the cherry you want so you can try it, even if she has to work to find a sampling for you! I tasted the milk chocolate bing cherry and instantly fell in love with it. So sweet and delicious! The lady says there is no additional sweeters or sugars added to the cherries because they are naturally sweet. She could have lied to me. I didnt care. I was already sold. read more

Samples galore~ I love how they're very open to letting you try everything until you find what you like. Amazing chocolate cherries and the varieties are endless. I loved the Cabernet ones - really yummy chocolate. Also purchased the pack with 4 diff types as a gift for my mom - she loved it. Spent $70 here as gifts for other people, and so they gave me a small box of Cabernet cherries for my own enjoyment (I was very appreciative for that :-p). Yummy and huge chocolate covered pecans; the honey ones with dusted sugar are a little too sweet so go for the cocoa ones if you like and do want to purchase chocolate covered pecans. read more

Love these! They make great hostess gifts, or stocking stuffers, and I always include a bag or two whenever I send someone a care package from Seattle. And because I care about myself, too, of course -- well, I just have to buy an extra item for myself from time to time. My favorites are the Amaretto Rainiers, Truffle cherries, and cocoa pecans. The employees at Pike Place Market are always friendly and helpful. read more

Delicious cherries, a fun and friendly staff, and all the samples I could want - it really doesnt get better than this. They've got just about everything anyone could want in a sweet confection. From tart cherries to sweet milk chocolate covered nuts. Personally my favorite was the Pinot Noir Cherries, such a wonderful dark chocolate flavor! And if you see something you're not sure of, ask for a sample. I must have sampled about 10 different items before I finally decided on what would go home with me that day. read more

Delicious! Love that they will give you a sample. Prices a little on the high side, but so tasty you don't care. I love these cherries!!! This is one of the vendors on the Savor Seattle Food Tour that I went on. People have brought back for me before and I have always savored them. I highly recommend you stopping by to get some good tasting and fresh bites. They have a great selection to choose from, not just chocolate covered cherries. read more

Good product, cheerful workers, and generous samples. The women here are extremely friendly and helpful without being pushy. They'll pretty much let you sample anything you want to try. We bought some stuff for gifts and some stuff for ourselves as well: -- Dark chocolate covered cabernet cherries: These are a good choice for people who straddle the fence between wanting dark or milk chocolate. The chocolate is rich but still sweet. -- Berry and pistachio mix: Dried cherries, cranberries, and pistachios are the treat to eat when you want a little snack or are lounging about watching tv. Everything is a little pricey, but with the quality and service you get it's worth it. read more

Some products are good, others are great but what took it over the top was the excellent customer service. Staff are extremely nice and patient. They will literally let you try any and all their products. They never seem to let the crowds of tourists and all the pushy "serve me now" attitudes get to them, unlike neighboring stalls. I'm usually not an indecisive shopper; however, the overwhelming crowds and the huge number of choices made me freeze. The young woman serving me patiently let me try sample after sample and answered all my questions. I ended up buying a bag each of chocolate honey pecans, classic milk chocolate covered cherries, cabernet cherries and chocolate cherry quartet to take home as gifts. The chocolate covered cherries with wine in their names don't actually contain alcohol. These cherries supposedly pair well with their namesake wine. So I plan to gift the cabernet cherries with a bottle of cabernet. read more

My nephews wife told us about this place and it's expensive but the chocolate covered cherries are delicious. The chocolate is the key here. They also have chocolate covered pecans. The vendor that offered me samples were a bit tight with the samples, she withheld giving me a second sample even though I already agreed to buy two bags and was trying to decide on the second flavor.
