We bought some stuff for gifts and some stuff for ourselves as well: -- Dark chocolate covered cabernet cherries: These are a good choice for people who straddle the fence between wanting dark or milk chocolate. The chocolate is rich but still sweet. -- Berry and pistachio mix: Dried cherries, cranberries, and pistachios are the treat to eat when you want a little snack or are lounging about watching tv. Some products are good, others are great but what took it over the top was the excellent customer service. Staff are extremely nice and patient. They will literally let you try any and all their products. They never seem to let the crowds of tourists and all the pushy "serve me now" attitudes get to them, unlike neighboring stalls. I'm usually not an indecisive shopper; however, the overwhelming crowds and the huge number of choices made me freeze. The young woman serving me patiently let me try sample after sample and answered all my questions. I ended up buying a bag each of chocolate honey pecans, classic milk chocolate covered cherries, cabernet cherries and chocolate cherry quartet to take home as gifts. The chocolate covered cherries with wine in their names don't actually contain alcohol. These cherries supposedly pair well with their namesake wine. The vendor that offered me samples were a bit tight with the samples, she withheld giving me a second sample even though I already agreed to buy two bags and was trying to decide on the second flavor. I love cherries. I love chocolate. I love chocolate covered cherries... it seems with a passion!! As soon as I got to the counter, I saw that they were handing out samples of pretty much all the chocolate that you wanted to try. I was super curious about the pinot noir dark chocolate covered cherries. The person behind the counter recommended the cabernet cherries, and offered samples of both. I'm so glad she made that recommendation. Those cabernet cherries ROCK!! The chocolate is so smooth and rich and fresh tasting, and the cherries are plump and a little tart. Delicious!! I ended up buying a few bags of their chocolate cherries, and I'm literally almost out. It's been a week since we went!! It's ok because I notice that they have a website and they deliver!! Lovely ladies selling luscious... luh-cherries? Luxuries! Okay, my alliteration fell short but these confections won't. That honey pecan manages to be crisp and rich with honey flavor all the way through the nut, even when covered in chocolate. "Life-changing", it was billed, and it was definitely a superior experience. I was asked about my preferences, not just milk and dark, but for smoothness and sharpness and add-ins before being offered tastes. It was as close to a bespoke chocolate experience I think you'll find for not ridiculous money. Ultimately I left with cabernet dark chocolate cherries. Decadent. Ahem, a limerick: So we went and bought cherries from Chukar. Which were sweet and could make your lips pucker. They tasted so nice That we purchased them thrice But she priced them a bit high so it's disappointing. Again, tried during a walking food tour. They have a lot of good product here, very good flavors. And the employees were all very nice. We did, in fact, but a few bags to take home. The prices weren't completely bonkers, but they're a bit higher than normally comfortable (I know the cost of running a business though, so I understand the reasoning behind it). I'm in love with Chukar Cherries, they are so seriously good! When I stopped by Seattle for an afternoon before heading to Vancouver, BC I made sure to visit the Chukar Cherries booth in the Pike Place Market. Don't let the name fool ya, Chukar has much more to offer than cherries alone, their handmade confessions are done in small batches to preserve the delicious taste of their assorted fruits, nuts, and chocolates. Here's what I picked-up: Honeyed Pecans - Toasted pecans covered in a toffee glaze, dipped in milk chocolate, and dusted with powdered sugar. So very tasty! Pistachio and Cherry Trail Mix - Contains pistachios, large dried bing cherries and dried cranberries. This mix has a great combination of flavors...the saltiness from the pistachios, the tart cherries, and the sweetness from the cranberries. I would prefer less cranberries but I have a feeling that I just grabbed a bag with alot of cranberries in it. Dark Chocolate Cherries - Absolutely divine! The dark chocolate alone doesn't send this sweet over the top, it's the combination of coco powder and the dark chocolate that sets this apart from other chocolate dipped cherry treats. If you're a fan of luscious dark chocolate you have to try these. The cherries go so well with the dark chocolate...and a glass of Pinot Noir! Milk Chocolate Cherries - Not as good as the dark chocolate but still stellar! It may be that I'm a bigger fan of dark chocolate compared to milk chocolate because my boyfriend seems to think that the milk chocolate cherries are a gift from God...so if you like milk chocolate go for these little packages of deliciousness! I'm giving this place 5 stars because all the products that I've sampled have been amazingly tasty, the young lady at the register was really nice and super cool...I would absolutely come back to Chukar Cherries when I'm in Seattle and purchase their products online when I'm not. i usually don't like cherries (dried or fresh!) but I have to say, I am a fan of chukar cherries. I was able to sample many items they offered, and all were excellent. I had the cherry/peach salsa.... yum! If you are are a chocolate/nut lover, you will looooove the milk chocolate honey pecan (its the one rolled in powdered sugar). For dark chocolate lovers, the cabernet chocolate cherry was soooooo yummy as well. Everything I tasted here was excellent. The customer service was great as well. read more

Cherries, Berries, and Nuts, oh my! My favorites are the Berry Medley and the Honey Pecan, but that's not to say that everything else isn't fan-freaking-tastic here. I'd load a carry-on full of Chukar Cherry goodies if I could. Whether covered with chocolate or just dried correctly, all the goods at Chukar are superb. You can get samples of a few of their varieties at any given time, and they just recently went through a remodel. If you're not picky about what you get, they sell discounted "Cherry Bombs." Because the owner wants everything to be perfect in her orders, anything that has an imperfection gets thrown into a Cherry Bomb bag and sold that way - so you get everything that tastes good, but just isn't as pretty, at a discount price. Luckily for me, you can order online, so I don't have to make the trip to Seattle every time I need a fix. These make fine gifts, too - at least I wouldn't mind getting a box of Chukar goods all wrapped up. read more

My brother is a Seattle local and brought home a Chukar Cherries sampler one year for the holidays. I have to say, they make a great centerpiece, gift, or dessert if you don't want to talk to your family and would rather drool over chocolate cherries instead ("Oh god, oh god, which one do I eat NEXT?!"). When I actually got to their stand myself, I couldn't remember which ones I liked, and the woman helping me was very generous with the samples. However, I thought she was almost overly friendly, and got slightly condescending when explaining the discount for buying multiple bags. They're probably told to push pretty hard with tourists, so I guess it's understandable and forgivable with samples. I went home with the Raspberry Truffles and Bing Cherries in Milk Chocolate, but they cost a pretty penny ($9/bag). read more

They offer a showcase of Washington's finest cherries products: jams, chocolate covered cherries, dried cherries, and much much more. Their cherries are so delicious you would help yourself from buying a bag or two of their delicious treats even at $9.50 a pop. Chukar cherries are my heaven. If I had an endless supply of the truffle cherries, I. would. never. stop. eating. When I first discovered these at Pike Place, I thought they were a bit too pricey. Then 2 weeks later I bought a very small bag of godiva chocolate covered cherries for $4 at a department store. VERY small bag. Maybe 10 choco-berries. They were aweful! I was never a fan of cherries and chocolate but when they are harvested from a local farm that has the freshest flavors and no preservatives you rethink the thought of cherries on everything. I immediately think of maraschino cherries that are soaked in sugary water in a cheap cocktail but these cherries are amazing. With a variety of chocolates to coat them in and dried as well to pick from the staff here is very well informed of all their products. We also tried the cherry and peach salsa which blew my socks off! I would have loved to bring home a jar but the great thing these days is you can order just about anything online. The variety of candied pecans are delicious as well and with a large enough order they throw in a gift with purchase and a discount! How can you beat that?! Cherries taste great and the workers here are super friendly. They are more than willing to let you try about everything on the menu. They have a variety of dries and chocolate coated cherries plus other fruits and nuts! I personally love the chocolate covered pecans and the raspberry truffles. The raspberry truffle is a cranberry coated with white chocolate and dusted with pulverized raspberries! Amazing! The only real downside to Chukar is that its pretty expensive for snacks. I don't usually eat dried fruits but when I do . . . . I remember ten years ago, my sister bringing back some white chocolate covered raspberries from Seattle. I remember last month, going to Seattle on a business trip . . . hunting down this place even though I didn't know the name or where it was . . . and then getting those raspberries. Why its so good: Unlike other dried fruits, the fruit is just fruit with no to very little preservatives. So its not overly sticky or have that sulfurous (i think preservative) smell. read more
