This nice, upscale Mexican restaurant was on Joe K's list of "must try" places while on vacation in Cancun via his Yelp research. It was just a short walking distance from our hotel. We must have arrived for an early dinner, because there were no patrons when we first got there. At the entrance, a staff member escorts you in and takes you up 2 escalators to the second floor, where you are under a covered outdoor patio. We got to choose wherever we wanted to sit, so of course I wanted the best view available. Our table faced other hotels that blocked most of the ocean, but it was an OK view anyway. We were also able to watch and be somewhat entertained by the fast moving traffic coming and going along the main drag. The wait staff were polite and efficient explaining the menus and drink specials to us. They offer a selection of tropical cocktails in which you can buy one and get the second one free. We of course decided on said drinks. Which was very refreshing, tasty and served in a very generous glass. Since we had worked up an appetite, we wanted to share several different appetizers as our main course. We had the deep fried shrimp tacos, fish tacos, potato shoestring wrapped shrimp, hot cheese dip and guacamole dip. All the food was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor in every dish! I wanted to give 5 stars because our whole experience was definitely deserving! But after a few hours, I developed a severe migraine headache that got worse later that evening. I haven't had a headache that bad in a long time! And I can only suspect that maybe they used a cheap type of alcohol in my drink or possibly they used wine instead which will for sure give me a headache! I have been to Chuchito Perez twice. The first time was with my girlfriend and we ordered appetizers and shrimp tacos and took advantage of the two for one drink special. The second time I went alone during two day taco spree because I still wanted to try the steak and bone marrow tacos. Chuchito Perez is part of a Mexican mini luxury restaurant chain with locations in Queretaro, Mexico City, Cancun and Monterey. The one in Cancun is located in a third floor palapa and shares the space with another restaurant so you can order off either menu. The first thing you notice when you reach this third floor palapa style restaurant is the view. You can force yourself to look between two hotel towers to see a sliver of beach on the ocean side or you can take in the breathtaking views of the lagoon and the nightclub area once it gets dark. The sunset over the lagoon is quite beautiful while the lights of the nightclubs below offer a bit of excitement once darkness falls. We were offered drinks from a two for one menu that seemed a bit too gimmicky and contrived for a luxury restaurant but the drinks were large and tasty even if the cheap alcohol may have contributed to girlfriend's headache. Perhaps they should skip the whole cheap drink, con artist style ritual and drop the price of their alcohol to where people might want to order from the regular menu? What they lose in markup could perhaps be gained in sales volume? Presenting a little sophistication rather than the appearance of desperation just might go a long way? We ordered three items from the appetizer menu, The Camarones Empapados (shrimp wrapped in potato strings), Queso En Salsa (melted cheese with salsa and peppers) and Guacamole made at our table. We also ordered Costras De Camaron (shrimp with pickles onions, mango & cilantro on cheese crusted corn tortillas) and Camaroncillas (fried tacos filled with shrimp) from the tacos menu. Everything was good but my favorites were the Queso En Salsa and the Costras De Camarons. Our waiter almost talked us out of ordering the Queso En Salsa by describing it as tomato soup with cheese. Believe me, it was not anything like tomato soup with cheese, the salsa was full of all kinds of amazing flavors and the nice, square chunks of cheese were of perfect size and texture and the best part of all was that it was not greasy. The mango in the Costas de Camarons really stood out and mixed perfectly with the shrimp while the cheese crusted corn tortillas and just the right amount of pickled onions and cilantro leant the perfect amount of support to really make this dish pop. The waiter telling us the suggested gratuity was equal to over 50% of the bill did not go over well with me but perhaps he just was not good at math? On my second trip I was on a mission to try as many different kinds of taco at as many places as possible in my short stay in Cancun and I really wanted to try their Arrechera Y Tuetano (flank steak and bone marrow) tacos. It seemed like such a unique dish. I wanted a shot of tequila and some sparkling water but the shot of tequila I wanted was about three times what I was paying for them elsewhere so I settled for a Modelo Negro and stopped for a shot on my way back to my hotel. The steak tacos were good on their own and adding the marrow to my first taco seemed like a waste of bone marrow so I ended up savoring small bites of marrow between bites of tacos. It's a little more expensive than the $$ tag would suggest but well worth it. The food is very good but the view is fantastic! Our food tasted great. The arracherra was tender, tasty and cooked to perfection. The suggested green salsa was excellent but the spicier medium sauce was an incredible mix of tastes and added a well-balanced heat to the steak. The pollo chimichurri was very good. The margaritas and mojitos have additional house flavors added and were HUGE and tasty. If you areon't drinking alcohol that day, their limo ads is not-to-tart and very tasty. But really go for the view, especially at sunset. The rooftop dining area is 3 stories above Blvd Kukulkán giving you great views of the lagoon, sunset, as well as the show in the street below. read more

right in the night club zone, great view and party songs.. nice this restaurant is right in nightclub zone which is nothing but 200-meter stretch having all nightclub. this is next to Carlos's n Charlie's. you have to go to 3rd floor by escalator and exit is through forum mall. the restaurant is kind of big hut, big series of lights everywhere. dim light, party music and at corner we had our couple table having a side view of beach and lagoon making it beautiful. in google pic, you ll find very attractive lagoon view pic, but that is taken with a long exposure, so don't go by that. yes, beach view and lagoon view is there but not clear, of course, due to lighting. from the top, you can get a good view of all the nightclubs. they have bar counter there and some party was going on. one thing I found, servers in these restaurants do not know enough English to communicate, they ll call your manager and then he communicates. sometimes it irritates me. coming to food, They had an authentic Mexican menu and an American menu, we ordered from both. chicken munchers, tandoori chicken/ Pollo Tandoori, pickled shrimp we ordered. Pickled shrimp was nothing bad boiled shrimp on nacho with veggies. it was really bad, upon asking, the manager changed it and he did not charge. chicken munchers come with French fries and local sauce which was good and Pollo tandoori is the piece of grilled chicken on lettuce. it was good. we ordered a simple margarita and local beer. Also, they don't serve water in the restaurant. I have read in blogs that one should be very careful with drinking water, but why restaurants don't serve drinking water, not sure. They had added gratuity in the bill. upon asking, you can change the % of tip. 20% is by default added. I have asked for the fresh bill and added 10% to it. the ambiance was good, 3rd floor so of course breezy wind making the evening more beautiful. not to add party songs which make us not to forget that we are in nightclub zone. watching the glimpse of waves at the beach making it amazing. you can try this read more

I found these pics of food in my phone and remembered i never submitted a review. (How Sway!) Stumbled upon this place during some shopping on Jumpoff weekend 2017. There was a person outside with menus encouraging us to try their 2 for 1 drinks specials. Since I was celebrating my birthday, why not... It was a bit confusing getting inside. I think we took 2 or 3 escalators but once we arrived ok the top floor we enjoyed the views of the water and hotel zone. Overall our food was delicious but the drinks were even better. We really enjoyed the durros with the different sauces that came wit them. I come to Cancun annually and will definitely return to give this place a better review as it has been a while since I've eaten there. read more

This was my second time there and when I ordered the guacamole, our waiter (I think his name was Henry) told me that they didn't have anymore avocados. I told him that I hyped up this restaurant to my girls, and was so excited for them to try this restaurant. A few minutes later, he told me he had a surprise and next thing I know, we had an order of guacamole and chips come to our table! When I asked him how is it I got my guac order, he told me someone went to the supermarket to buy avocados! I was taken aback by the customer service! Aside from that, everything we ordered was DELICIOUS! We caught the 2 for 1 happy hour special for drinks and we had the flavored margaritas, which were delicious! The potato wrapped shrimp, beef tacos with bone marrow, shrimp soft tacos and shrimp hard tacos were a hit! The food was so good that one of my friends asked the waiter to call the chef out so that we can give him a standing ovation! Server was really nice and helpful. He is the reason why we even stayed here. 1- food was very boring. Guac seemed fresh but had no taste. Anybody can chop avocados in cubes, and if that is all you do, then I have no reason to pay for it. 2- ribeye was made the way we wanted, but again no taste. I came here on my 5th day in Cancun with three friends I came with for spring break. It had an amazing view of all of the party venues nearby and the atmosphere was really vibrant and alive. The music was a little loud, but it was to be expected, with the restaurant smack in the middle of the party district. They had an authentic Mexican menu and an American menu, but since I hadn't had too much Mexican food the previous few days, I decided to order some steak tacos. The tacos were delicious and the bone marrow that came on the side was a little intimidating at first, but once I tried them with the tacos, it opened my eyes to a whole new experience. I would definitely come again in the future! The restaurant seemed very focused on getting reviews on TripAdvisor, as the manager who greeted us asked how we'd heard of them twice before we even took our seats and also had us fill out "review reminder" forms on iPads before we could get our tab. This place was in the middle of all the action, next to a set of condos Salvia and Congo Bongo. We were starving from traveling all day so first restaurant we bumped into this place, guy greeted us with information about place. We made our way to the top 3rd floor which you can enjoy a spectacular view. We had guacamole for an appetizer, follow with duck tacos, duck enchiladas cover with mole, cochinita pibil (marinate pork) My son loves sushi, Lalo our waiter recommended Scorpio Roll was a HIT! He was very attentive and his service was superb. Place was a bit expensive but worth it. I would have given this 5 star but their bathrooms and maintenance needs to improve. First the location is great! Has a good view of the area. The outdoor seating gives you a view of other bar spots like coco bongo etc. service was really good and staff was very attentive. I was greeted very kindly. Drinks are huge for a good price as well. I got the mango chamoy as recommended by the waiter. Complimentary "chips" with jalapeño and chipotle mayonnaise is also given. The food itself was just all around delicious. I got the bone marrow taco and it did not disappoint! The taco was very filling and came with a substantial amount of meat. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting the area. read more

This is probably one of the few restaurants that aren't part of the American chains. This restaurant is hard to miss while you're in the "Cancun Las Vegas" There was a huge signature alcoholic beverage outside the restaurant. (Really hard to miss, I mean it.) & well you can guess that's also the alcoholic beverage that I ordered. I believe this restaurant is known for 1) the size of the drink and 2) the design of the drink. You can order from flavors such as mojito to mango. Also, there's going to be an upside down beer in your drink! So your drink will keep refilling until the beer is empty. I actually came here twice (clearly I really love this restaurant.) The first time we came, we didn't order anything to eat because we already ate (duh, LOL.) Along with the drinks, it comes with a complimentary chip that was actually a flower? I'm not exactly sure what kind of flower it was, but don't worry they taste just like chips! Nice and crunchy! It comes with 3 different types of sauces; chipotle, guacamole and uh.. I got too drunk to remember the third one. (Literally) Enough about the drinks and chips. On to the real food! The second time I came here I ordered the chicken tacos from their Mexican menu. They also had an American-Mexican fusion menu but I'm in Mexico, clearly I'm not trying to eat food that I can easily order back in the states. The portions were pretty small (haha Americans and their big portions) but they were filling and taste pretty amazing! On to the service and pricing. The service was all around phenomenal. We switched tables the first time we came here and they even helped us move some of our stuff. They would come by every so often to ask if everything was all right and they would help us wipe down the tables due to the condensation from the cups. The drinks were about $170pesos and the rates were around 16.6-17.7pesos per 1USD. After gratuity (already included, it's a little less than the American 15%) and taxes, it came up to $190 pesos and roughly $10-$11 USD. read more

I love this place. We ate here last night and the service is excellent. They are very attentive and the food was great! The drink are by 1 get one. I had the mango margarita and a regular margarita. The margaritas come with a corona inside or on the side. I got it on the side so my husband could drink them. Several servers stopped by to check on us. We were very impressed so we came back today to watch football! Again wonderful service! I can not say that enough! And the view is gorgeous! My best friend and I came here for dinner and we had the best experience! Our server Javier was hands down the best server I've ever had. He had a lot of good knowledge of the food and the drinks. My friend had got the tacos which she said where delicious. I had the fried shrimp tacos which where amazing! Along with the salsas that they had provided. Stumbled upon the entertainment district one day while taking the bus back from the hotel zone to the city center and decided to stop here for a drink. My girlfriend and I were compelled to come here because of this huge drink statue they have up front, however I didn't like how pushy the guy in the front was with trying to get us to come in. Nevertheless, this was the location we chose and the host lead us up escalators which revealed a rooftop bar/lounge/restaurant. Really amazing and festive decor with one of the best views in the entertainment district, but with the many avail seats at the time I came-- why did they seat us in the back?! There seems to be an understanding here that most people come for drinks and not for the food, so it's not awkward at all when you tell them you don't wanna eat :) The drinks here are beautifully displayed and in large portions. You definitely get the whole $10USD you paid for unlike $8 for a bad beer in the states! The food here is also really good, not a bad place to grab dinner but definitely on the pricier, less authentic side. The servers here are very friendly and make you feel at home/ease. My girlfriend and I came here only twice during our stay at Cancun, but the server remembered us the second time we came. The entertainment district is definitely a place you must check out during your stay at Cancun, for the lively nightlife and the fact it seems this is the only area that has later hours of business than other areas & this restaurant is the best place to overlook it! read more

I specifically asked for fresh-squeezed OJ, and reconfirmed with waiter that it's fresh, the waiter brought a really disgusting super-sugary concentrate, with loads of ice in it. When I told him that's not fresh OJ, he said it's already on my tab and whether I drink it or no, I'll be charged for it (the argument that he lied to me about it being fresh-squeezed didn't seem to bother him), so he replaced it with coke, but charged me for both coke and that fake oj Then he came and said that we should leave 15% tip. The service here was wonderful. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming waiter. We ate outside and got a really nice view of the city below. The food was amazing!! I had the Arrachera Taco, which had steak and bone marrow. I highly recommend getting a Michelada drink! I ordered Mango Michelada and it was really good. And not sure if they do this for everyone, but halfway during the meal the waiter ended up offering me another Michelada for free, complementary which was awesome! If you wonder which place to go around Coco Bongo, go here cause they have the best local tacos ever. Shrimp tacos with caramelized onions were So Good. (Forgot to take a picture...) Our server, William was very friendly and great too. We were definitely lucky that we chose here. The shots called sweetart(?) was good also. Came with blueberries in it. Went here for drinks on a Saturday night and we had to wait 30 min to get draft beers in this place, even if it was half empty around midnight. No service was given, we had to hunt for the waiters to make orders, ask for our beers and get the bill. After we had made our order there was another person introducing himself and told that he was our server. We told that we already ordered but he answered no, you have to order again. We insisted since we didn't want to end up with twice the amount of drinks. He insisted first but finally went to ask the other waiters if our order was on the way as it was. After that it took probably another 15min to get our beers. This service was horrific so we didn't leave tip. The second waiter ran after us and asked about the tip, I explained the waiting time and he seemed to understand however he wasn't happy and seemed very stressed. I usually don't give bad recensions but this service was remarkably bad unfortunately. read more

This was a very pleasant find during my trip in Cancun! With low yelp reviews, I was a little hesitant about coming here, but after some convincing from my friend, we came here for dinner. Don't let the escalator scare you, the view from the top is gorgeous. We came for dinner, received excellent recommendations and service from Salvador and had to come back the next morning for lunch where we were able to watch the sunset on one side of the restaurant and the waves crash on the other. The ambiance is relaxed and they have an extensive food and drinks list! I'd definitely recommend coming here for a quick bite or just drinks! If you have children DO NOT GO HERE! My wife and i tried to dine here with our 10 yo and 14 yo. They attempted to sit us all the way in the back of the restaurant behind a glass door, in the dark without any music. I kid you not, i think this was the way to the bathroom. The general manager or who ever this guy pretended to be, explained to us that he could not seat us in the main dining room because he was a expecting a large group- fine so i asked, what about the area off to the left- sorry there's a railing there- it's a liability because of your children. Worst place to go if you're hungry and in a large group. They can't cook their steaks too. My friend' steak came in raw and they did not want to replace his steak. The reason was that he took bites of the edges. My steak came after more than an hour and they had to re-do it because it was also raw. Not a good place to have a nice dinner.
