Came with the family and was happy to have tried this place. Can't go wrong with $1skewers. We ordered over 100 skewers and was filling. Only problem we had was it took time to cook the food so we had to wait for the skewers to cook. The staff were very nice and attentive. We will return.

I came here for dinner with one of my friends and we had a great time. Chubby Skewers has two locations in New York: one in Midtown Manhattan and one in Downtown Flushing. While I've been to their Manhattan location a couple times, this was the first time I've been to their Flushing spot. Unlike their counterpart, this location has an outdoor seating area, which was quite enjoyable in the summer. They have a variety of skewers, which come at $1 per skewer, if you are a member. They also have seasonings that you can enjoy with the skewers. Portions are decent, quality is good, and variety is amazing. Great spot for casual bites and drinks with friends, and great ambiance!

I ordered to go yesterday and picked up in store. This location is on the 2nd floor, which can be often missed. I ordered 5 skewers. The pineapple skewer was very fresh and sweet. The 2 chicken skewers were quite small, and I wished there was spicy seasoning. Overall, this restaurant is quite beautiful and service was fast. I just wished that they increase the amount of meat per skewer.

Gather Around Fire There's this chain novelty skewer restaurant in Flushing that sells restaurant membership for deep discounts. Although i am usually not a fan of DIY bbq spots and hot pots, I like this concept as it encourages chatting while passively waiting. Every person on table "gathers around the fire" while waiting for the food to cook, a very primeval moment. And by the time the second batch of skewers are cooked, my biological satiation meter sends signal that I had enough. It's healthy, minimal carbs consumed. 47 skewers of meat morsels, enjoyed. Excellent for midnight cravings as they close early in the morning. My favorite skewer was beef with lychee and the chicken knee, a Japanese speciality in serious yakitori spots, that's sold for cheap here. Did we get the membership? Yes! And thank you to the wonderful Vivi for patiently explaining the membership benefits Chubby Skewers New York Chubby Skewers, Flushing Branch #curious_eater

This place is only worth it if you have a membership. The skewers are $1.40 each without a membership and $1 with a membership. They also charge you $0.95 per person for a "seasoning fee" that you can't opt out of (like how some hot pot places charge you a fee for the dipping sauces). With the membership though, the fee is waived. I like that there's a wide variety of skewers and you choose the ones you want to grill. The actual grilling though wasn't that fun. You're sitting in front of a hot grill with only 10-12 slots and have to patiently wait for them to cook. This is definitely not a place to come with a group larger than 6 people because the food would just take forever and you'd all be starving. They have other items on the menu that you can order but even that took long. I felt like we waited 15-20 minutes for each dish to come out of the kitchen. The staff is pretty attentive and overall it's an interesting concept. But definitely don't come here if you're expecting a full meal. My friends and I had to get a second dinner after this.

This was my first time at Chubby Skewers and they've made a lifelong fan out of me ! When you walk in you get to pick out your selection of meats, seafood, and veggies. Everything is cooked on skewers at the table, such a fun date spot or get together with friends. It gives traditional KBBQ a run for its money, and I actually prefer it to the open grill at Kbbq restaurants. My partner and I shared a Peach Soju Beer Pitcher between us and managed to eat over 50 skewers The food was flavorful, fresh and the restaurant was very clean and sanitary. Staff is very attentive, walking around checking on guests, refilling waters and they even keep an eye on your skewers in case you've left them on too long! 100% will be back and will recommend to anyone in Flushing Queens :)

Not only is the food delicious but it's also such a fun experience. They have a pretty good variety of veggies and meat and I love the seasonings they offer on the side. We even got a few hot dishes that were also great. The molten tofu was slightly spicy and super flavorful while still retaining the taste of tofu, and I loved the seasoning they put on top. The foil wrapped enoki mushroom was juicy and also flavorful. I've never had skewered brussel sprouts before but it was an unexpected favorite for me as well as other people in my group. The grilled pineapple was also a group favorite. Can't wait to come back again.

I came here for lunch on 5/15/2026. I like the concept of grilling your own food on skewers. Each skewer is $1.40, and the selection of meats and vegetables was abundant. While solo dining, I selected the lean wagyu, black pepper wagyu, brisket, magra fresh lamb, crawfish, cuttlefish balls, and pork belly with kimchi. Most skewers had skimpy portions of food! My primary server, Tommy, was attentive and accommodating. He provided me a fork when he saw me struggling with chopsticks. He also informed me that only dry seasoning is up for customer grabs. Customers must ask the servers to retrieve the wet ones, e.g., lemon, sesame oil, soy sauce, etc., from the kitchen. Tommy gave me some free lychees for dessert. I appreciated that because they are one of my favorite fruits. I also sampled some mango custard--delightful. Kay and Lucas took turns cleaning off my table. The ambiance says "restaurant walk up". Customers must climb steep stairs to reach the restaurant, so skip this restaurant if you are in poor shape. The restrooms are fairly clean, and the vibe is Instagram worthy. Chubb Skewers is worth a try! I had a good meal! 3.5 stars/5-rounded off to 4.

Skewers are $1.40 for non-member. Some of them are $2.80, such as chicken wings. Members are $1, but it is $50 per year membership with free skewers. Skewers are flavorable. I like the beef tribe, new orkeans chicken wing. The lamb skewers are more like skinny skewers. Scallop with vermicelli is tasty. We got 6 for $21. It is $4 if you order 1. Thats why we ordered 6. Shrimp balls are also good. It is crispy. It looks like lychee. You can skip the eggplant. I had better. Live music, and they gave out free flowers for Mothers Day. In the end, you get to pick a prize. My wife got the $25 gift certificate. The waitress was very happy when my wife drew the $25 gift certificate. I guess that's the big prize they were talking about. We spent about $125 including tips for 2 people.

The reason for 1 star because, one of the skewers the meat was sour .. i think it's pork one. If you cannot tolerate rotten meat you can stop reading the rest of what i wrote. After entering the store you'll need to climb the long staircase, it's not seniors friendly. Because it's a rainy day, a girl almost fall down from going down the staircase. On a Saturday night waiting time was about 40mins. Service is good, nice people. Live music available we came on Saturday night, the singers are good however if u were like us being sat next to the singers, it's gonna be sooooo loud. Here's the break down for food we tried: (it's bite size skewers) - Chicken wings is good (spicy one) - pineapple is good only of you cook it over 10 minutes sprinkle some sugar on it - corn is good 糯糯的 - abolone is ok like the one in a can - eel is good but don't like their marinade , very tiny piece - chick feet is ok something different after eating a lot of meat - chicken heart is not fresh - baby squid is not fresh and mushy - broccoli was yellowish( didn't get that) - fish balls is typical fishball like those in hmart, i like bbq fishball - beef tripes is good -beef tongue - very hard to chew not the best part - Australia lamb is tough - all beef are not good quality beef , beef neck meat were so hard to chew, throw it out. - bacon wrap mushroom is good , make sure pick the fresh one, some of them in the tray looks gray - shrimp is good - crawlfish is ok - duck tongue is ok - mini scallops is good -side order fish skin very good Alcohol & drinks are available, cheaper if one of you in the party join membership they'll calculate for you., then you'll get free can leychee dessert. Pineapple beer is good. In conclusion: most meat they are bland even though some are already marinated. Because we had tasted sour meat (pork), rinsed my mouth with alcohol. Idk if we gonna get sick the next day ... So .. I'm sorry to give 1 star, my mind can't get off the sour meat i tasted. Just feel unsafe to come back again. Personally now I'll prefer just go to Korean bbq. Personally

Came here for a birthday dinner with a friend on Saturday night. Picked this place based on the high reviews, we signed up at the front (upstairs, there's a tablet), we waited for about 30-40min. There's 3-4 chairs directly beneath the stairs leading up to the restaurant on second floor (stairway is very long, this place may not be wheelchair accessible, I didn't see any elevators). We got seated outside which had some nearby heaters. Decoration felt like outdoor camping vibe with lots of flames everywhere. The server got us water upon seating and explained that the seasonings at the table is free but if we want the seasoning nearby the skewer place is extra fee. This is the first time I've heard of charging extra for seasoning...and it's not really cheap either. Skewers selections has a wide range of meats, vegetables is pretty underwhelming. Skewers themselves doesn't have a lot of meat on them considering they're around $1.35 or something...some that has 2 skewers through meats are more expensive. I was pretty disappointed with every skewers TBH: 1) portion is super small 2) tasteless 3) doesn't taste very fresh 3) you cook it yourself 4) can't even enhance the flavor because the "free condiments" are limiting and the actual one that may help is extra $. What really killed it for me was when I tried the squid. It's whole baby squid with eyes, teeth and innards intact. Not cleaned at all. When I bit into it, all the guts came out and was extremely fishy. I don't think a restaurant should be serving squid that hasn't been properly cleaned. Not OK. The total came out to be $100+. We had also ordered some side dishes such as the preserved egg with tofu which wasn't too bad. Overall impression: - decoration: great, that's probably where the restaurant is putting most of its efforts in - service: above average, server was attentive but customers are really just servicing themselves lol - food: very poor - price: does not make sense, especially charging for the condiment that might actually save the flavorless skewers. I think the business model leans into hype and membership for Gen Z group that wants to post to Tik Tok or social media. if you're an actual foodie who wants good food, I'd skip this.

Atmosphere was really cute and the decor was fun. Selections of skewers were plenty and we enjoyed everything we got. Passion fruit beer was very good, liked it more than the pineapple beer. They seated us all the way on top at the end and it was very very hot and barely any ventilation. We left the place stinking. Wish they can fix the ventilation to enjoy eating more. They have an outdoor section for when it's warmer and excited to see that next time. Also if you don't want to cook for yourself you can have them use charcoal to do it in the kitchen.

Stumbled in randomly for skewers - a little disappointed that these didn't rotate automatically. Wait staff are super attentive at clearing plates and refilling water. The skewers selection is good, definitely lots to choose from, ranging from different parts of meats too. The skewers match the price $1.30, so it's nice to just get some to try, but my party definitely walked out hungry for a more fulfilling meal haha. But I think it's great for a late night snack spot to hangout, talk, and eat just a little bit, especially since it does take a little while for the meat to get that smoky taste.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 4 Value: 7 I have not been here in a long time. Maybe because the prices are no longer considered cheap eats. Or maybe because my taste buds have evolved over the years. Or maybe it's just not as good as it used to be. The answer is maybe all three and somewhere in the middle. I have never came here, or any other Latino-Chinese restaurants in NYC, for service or decor, so let's set that aside. The value is still somewhat there, but the food did not hit that nostalgic note I was looking for. I wanted to get the Fried Pork Chops (Chuletas De Cerdo Frita), but our server suggested the "juicier" Broiled Pork Chops (Chuletas De Credo Asada) instead. Sorry to report, if that's juicy, then how dry is the fried pork chops? I shutter at the thought. It was also under seasoned. I substituted the House Fried Rice for my side at an $4.50 additional fee. It was just okay and not worth the upgrade. Boneless Crispy Fried Chicken (Chicharron De Pollo) was also a disappointment. The batter was more hard than crispy, but the idea that boneless dark meat isn't more juicy simply tells me that the chef over fried the pieces. It came with Fried sweet plantains, which could have been a but more ripe but not bad. I'm not sure how I feel about the Beef Stew (Carne Guisada), which had relatively tender meat, but the sauce was so weak and lacked any real flavor. The black beans and white rice that came with it was decent. What might bring me back to this restaurant sooner rather than later was the Shrimp Egg Foo Young (foo Young Con Camarones). I felt that the eggs were cooked extremely well, but the star of the show was that delicious brown sauce full of umami. Having this over white or fried rice made this meal much more acceptable. I'm not sure when I'll have another craving for this type of food. If I do, I'll definitely get the egg foo young again. However, the other dishes were misses for me, so maybe I'll try the Fried Pork Chops and Shredded Beef in Tomato SayceRopa Vieja.

It helps that we speak the language that we got a little more comedic interaction with him! He was a hoot and was helpful in providing us advice on the # of dishes and what to get. Then the server Bill, started acting like a used car salesman. He said he would give us a sake cause it was his birthday, but didn't tell us we were going to get charged for it. Also before my brother got there, he said that since it was his birthday, he would bring out a "banana boat" which was just 5 scoops of ice cream and some cut up banana. When we got the bill he not only charged us for both, but that banana boat was $30! When we asked about it, he argued with us saying that he didn't tell us the price of every single thing that we bought... very rude. We also tried to order two orders of regular soup dumplings and two orders of the truffle. He kept rushing our order, and then tried to change our order to four orders of the truffle. We weren't sure if we would like it yet, and kept pushing back but he wouldn't take no for an answer (that being said the truffle was good, but I'm definitely a purist and preferred the regular soup dumplings). We also ordered the kau fu but it was not good, and tasted too much of five spice. The cha cha mien was fine, but a bit small and a little bland. The rice cakes were good, but the rice cakes were not al dente enough for me. We also got the fried rice, which was fine, but nothing to write home about. Finally we got a fried tofu dish which was good and had a lot of tofu in it. Overall, this server ruined our experience. The food is fine, but there are other Shanghainese restaurants in the area and would visit those over this place.
