Excellent food! I like the chicken katsu , i thinks its around 22$ with tax, good service! Place is spacious. Will comeback soon!

Wagyu handroll, Tuna with truffle handroll
Nick L.

This is my third time going to this spot and it always hits! I usually get the wagyu steak curry plate. My girlfriend decided to get the wagyu burger which was really good and juicy. The Wagyu handroll and tuna with truffle handrolls were excellent. Good amount of meat and fish for the handrolls which is excellent. Jose the server was working really hard working multiple tables and still provided us excellent customer service. I encourage you guys to stop by this spot if you guys haven't been here yet.

cucumber salad was way too heavy on the lime. I'm guessing this is the reason.

I genuinely left Chubby Curry a little disappointed overall. Maybe my expectations were too high because of all the popularity and about 1,000 reviews with a 4.5-star rating. The curry was good, but honestly, curry is pretty hard to mess up. The katsu was also decent, but nothing really had that "wow" factor for me. The biggest disappointment was the wagyu burger. For $28, I was expecting something special, but it was dry, lacked seasoning, and the meat didn't taste fresh. Honestly, it just tasted like regular ground beef, and we could even taste that strong beef smell. My wife and I took a couple of bites and stopped eating it. Maybe it was just an off day, but for $28? PASS. The cucumber salad was also way too heavy on the lime. It was so sour that it was hard to enjoy for my taste. So why am I still giving them 4 stars? Two reasons: the wagyu steak rice bowl and the service. The wagyu steak rice bowl was easily the highlight of the meal. The meat was very tender, flavorful, and actually lived up to my expectations. Service was also on point. Everyone was attentive and took good care of us. Overall, not a bad experience, but based on all the hype, I expected the food to be much better. I'd probably come back for the wagyu steak rice bowl, but I'd definitely skip the burger next time.

Dine LA - HAMBAGU OVER FRIED RICE
Jennifer S. M.

Our first stop on the Dine LA list done! Chubby Curry always has great offers during this time of year. My husband and I dined here last Friday night. We both ordered Option Two: Hambagu Over Fried Rice. It's an 8oz beef wagyu patty, poached egg, broccoli and cherry tomatoes served over rice. The curry is cooked and served separately in its own cast iron. The dish was robust, full-bodied, and umami-rich! The curry was lush and warm-spiced. This is a new favorite of mine from Chubby Curry! My husband and I also ordered handrolls - Yellowtail and Salmon. The fish was fresh and mildly sweet. You can't go wrong with these as they have been consistent throughout the years we've been here. When we arrived, it was busy. There was a wait of 30 mins. You can make a reservation online or walk-in. They have a kiosk in the front if you want to order to-go. Our servers were friendly and did their best to be as attentive as possible. There were times we had to ask for something more than once. Overall, I recommend dining here even outside of Dine LA. They have a great menu that can be enjoyed by everyone!

Great food like always. Quick service. We love the comfortable ambiance with music in the background.

Disgusting Tuna roll
Tina V.

We recently ordered Uber Eats for pickup, and it was such a disappointment. We ordered the Tonkatsu Kare, Oyakodon - Tonkatsu, and Tuna Handroll. The Tonkatsu was okay. It probably would've been better if we ate there, of course, but this review is mainly for the Tuna Handroll. The sushi was honestly really bad. It tasted and smelled like it was old or had gone bad. I couldn't even take a bite because it tasted so nasty. Pretty disappointed. Definitely wouldn't order the sushi again.

Tonkatsu curry, tonkatsu side, oysters
Vanessa L.

I got a side of tonkatsu, my dining companion got tonkatsu curry and we shared fried oysters and fukujinzuke. We both enjoyed our meals. While not overly large, the food portions were more than generous. Everything was well prepared and delicious. I'd definitely come back. As far as service goes, it was order by tablet, not much personable service. The server didn't seem that knowledgeable about the ingredients in the food. I asked because I have food allergies. The restaurant is small and I saw them turn some people away. So I would suggest a back up option dining in during peak times.

wagyu steak rice plate & tonkatsu curry

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and was seated right away. The restaurant is on the smaller side, with both bar and booth seating available. It felt a little stuffy inside because of the hot weather, but they had a floor fan that helped cool the space. Ordering is done through an iPad, which made the process quick and easy. I ordered the Tonkatsu Curry with medium spice. The portion size was small, but the curry was flavorful with a noticeable kick, as I ordered medium spicy. The tonkatsu arrived hot, crunchy, and tasty. There is a parking lot in the back, or you can try to find street parking in the front. Service was a little slow toward the end of our meal, as we had to wait for our check and to-go boxes, but overall, it was a good experience.

Friendly staff, clean interior that had a hole-in-the-wall/casual vibe. The wagyu beef curry hit the spot since I was craving Japanese curry, and the handrolls are always awesome.

Wagyu Curry 和牛咖喱饭

A nice spot for curry and high quality flavors. I was impressed by how easy it was to make a reservation on Yelp, and we were seated quickly for lunch. My waiter was amazing and really went above and beyond, helping with the high chair (and sanitizing it for me), kids plates and drink cup, and swooping in within 30 seconds of a massive spill my baby made. SO impressed. The food was just as impressive! Order via a tablet at your table, and it sends the order to your waiter who confirms it. Their Chicken karaage appetizer was crisp outside and juicy in the center with great flavor. Their Wagyu Curry was great as well, with tender wagyu pieces and a nice curry base. Their chicken katsu curry was also perfectly cooked and tender as well. Will need to come back for dinner as no sushi at lunch.

Crab Croquette
Monica Y.

Decided to give this place a try due to the hype I saw since a year or two ago. Came to this restaurant at 1PM and the place is dead with just 1 table occupied. I believe they used to serve chirashi so there's a sushi bar but possibly due to less business, the sushi bar is just empty. No server was up front for a few min and there's no bell to press to notify anyone that there's customers. Ordering is done via tablet on the table with everything labeled with a corresponding photo. They have few options for lunch special so I opt in for the beef curry + seaweed salad + miso soup/soda lunch option for $24. Ordered the Wagyu dumpling and a crab croquette to try as well. I would skip the dumpling if I were you. It's just like boiled dumpling with some sprinkles and sauce on the side. Not worth the $9. Crab croquette is overall decent . Standard price for 2 pieces like most Japanese restaurants. The main course curry comes with a bowl of white rice with 4 pieces of broccoli. Curry itself contains potato, carrot, and meat. Portion size is decent. Overall taste is more on the Japanese sweeter flavor with a little bit of a kick from possibly white pepper but might be a little spicy for kids. Decent but if ordered alone for $24, I would not recommend.

Walked in looking for supper. You know, that thing before dinner. Your grandparents' dinner. I just missed lunch specials. I was greeted and the host/server knew the assignment. My order was in the beef curry with the steak bowl. Probably the best bang for a buck, my buck, your buck, whoever's buck. Steak on the rice was tender and delicious. I prefect egg sat on top of the rice. On the left, curry making its own entrance. I recommend coming here if you haven't tried it yet. Great concept and happy I tried it. I will be coming back. I liked the seating and decorations were ok. Priced well and very delicious.

BF saw a reel on social media so we bookmarked it. Then we saw it's on the Dine LA list. Since we were in the area, we stopped in for dinner. BF had the wagyu steak rice plate option, which came with waffle fries. I had the regular Tonkatsu Curry. We could've skipped the Dine LA offer and just ordered off from regular menu., the waffle fries was a bit soggy. Rice was also too sticky/soggy/wet for my taste. Overall food was pretty good and service was good. All the pictures on the ipad menu looked so good, we both agreed we may return to try other dishes when we are in the area again.

If you can handle spice, I loved the regular spice level, otherwise mild is there next level down and was perfect for my friends. Out of the hamburger, chicken katsu and the pork tenderloin katsu, I would have to go with the chicken. It was juice, tender and so delicious. The pork was a little bit more on the tougher side when compared to the chicken. But no matter which protein you go with, they were all delicious. A curry plate also comes with soup and salad. Both were served right away and very delicious. Despite how small the salad bowl was, they really stuffed it with salad. The server is nice and parking can get pretty crazy if you come during a rush. When they came back we all asked for water and we were told I had to get rid of my energy drink I had with me. I understand their policy is no outside drinks but it's not like the entire table had teas from another shop, it was one person with a small energy drink can. Really nitpicky and stupid to enforce but whatever. We ordered our meals and everything came out great, the food was really tasty and fresh. Zero complaints about anything we ate at all! The katsu were all fried perfectly, very juice and quality meat. The curry was just a touch spicy and very flavorful. I especially loved the fried tofu, the dashi was some of the best I've had. At the end of the meal we said we had a cake and were told if we wanted to eat it there (with our own plates, napkins and utensils that we brought) it would be a $20 charge. I've never been to a place, especially an Asian restaurant, that has such a crappy policy. We reluctantly paid it but won't be coming back. We celebrate every birthday in the family at restaurants and this is the first time we've ever had pushback over cake.

Came here during late lunch so they weren't super busy. Not a big restaurant with a capacity of about 40 people. One all gender restroom available for customer use only. Lunch special menu was available. Other menu had main items, appetizers, and drinks. Prices were fairly reasonable. They are known for their famous pork katsu. I am not a big katsu fan so I didn't get it. Mochi Udon looked interesting so I got it with the Chicken Karaage (free offer from food passport... stamp #10) plus water. While I was waiting for my order, I was fascinated by all the different designed ducks displayed on the window sills and front counter. I am curious about their duck story. Inquirer wants to know. Mochi Udon bowl came out piping hot and steamy. A small plate of cabbage came with it. The bowl's nice presentation made it pleasantly appetizing. There's a lot of wood and warm colors, which makes the ambiance stand out over other ramen places. We ordered a ramen, omurice with katsu, some skewers and popcorn chicken. The spicy ramen was delicious, but there was no soft boiled egg as shown on the menu photo. All I saw was a broken egg white at the bottom of the bowl. 4/5. The omurice was nicely done.
