This is overdue but here it is! After contemplating it forever, I finally cut my hair that was down to [the lowest part of] my lower back. Considering how last minute my commitment was, I was so so so fortunate to have found and been seen by Alpin. She gave me a beautiful short cut---slightly angled with some personality and texture. I got the cut just over two weeks ago, and it's settled amazing. She also spent time chatting with me beforehand to understand what I was really going for and needing (for me, that was ability to just throw in some waves and go) and then offered suggestions for that goal--she recommended a couple products if i wanted to let it air dry, and showed me some curling iron techniques to get that exact quick effortless look i was going for. Finally, Alpin assured me that as my new cut settled, she'd be happy to make any little tweaks or changes if I desired and to just let her know. Beautiful work, genuine personality. After being a loyal customer of this salon for years, I'm sad and disappointed with how unprofessionally its staff behaved today. Weeks ago, I'd scheduled an appointment with Shawn specifically because he is the highest-leveled stylist at this salon, and I've seen his color work during my appointments with my own longtime stylist, Jen, who recently left Chroma. Another stylist at this salon who I tried in the interim expressed quite a bit of stress during the toning process of my hair color, so I specifically had sought out someone with the most experience with Aveda color. However, about one hour before my scheduled appointment today, I suddenly received a new booking email that moved me--without a phone call or any reason provided--to Stormi, a stylist at the lowest level. It would have been very easy to miss this last-minute email and the change of stylist. When I called the salon to understand what happened, the staffer at the phone approached Shawn for an explanation. He said simply that he's no longer taking new clients. I'm absolutely shocked that he found it acceptable to rebook me with another stylist at the very last minute without asking me, or even communicating with me or providing a explanation. The message this behavior sent was loud and clear, and I'm now searching for a new salon and stylist, sadly. read more

I asked to "keep length and take out weight" and ended up with a layered monstrosity I am still recovering from over a year later. Well, I dreaded driving 1 1/2 hours to get my hair done, but I'm grateful I made it! The colorist / hairstylist, Jaimei is amazing! I have been seeing her since May 2022. She took a last minute appointment for me and basically saved my hair. It got butchered and put on life support and the person who did it, canceled on me, not once, but twice. She didn't even have the decency of fixing my hair. I called a friend for anyone who could see me and Jaimei rescued me: I made the appointment at 8am and I don't know how I got into her fully packed schedule, but I am ever so grateful. I will always see her, no matter the distance I have to go : I know you think I'm sounding dramatic, but my hair was literally breaking off and dried out. Omigosh JaimeiMark was doing my hair for 10 years in Hawaii before she left me for Washington state five years ago and let me just tell you, it's been a lonnng, hard and rough five years. I am so glad that I was able to move here and am finally able to be back in her chair and have her put her magic hands on my truly troubled tresses. Now, I make the hour+ drive in traffic from Frederickson, Puyallup to see her in Queen Anne, Seattle because she is worth it! I arrived in Seattle yesterday and desperately needed a haircut. I called the salon to see if they could take a walk in. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman who took my call - he was so kind and helpful in finding me a spot that works for me. He was also quite patient, even explaining how to get there. I arrived very early. I was tired and frazzled. They invited me to sit, brought me water, and took great care of me while I waited. Then Cameron cut and styled my hair and did such an amazing job. He really listened and gave me the best haircut I've had in a long, long time. His whole demeanor is quite friendly, but also laid-back and easy to be around. He also made a couple of product recommendations for me, which I purchased because I could see the difference they made on my hair. As I was getting my haircut, I couldn't help but overhear the conversation between the stylist next to us and her customer. I've been going to Chroma specifically to see Tristan for a little over a year and could not possibly recommend him more. Tristan is my go-to in Seattle for cut/color/blowout for my bi-racial hair. He is a true perfectionist and puts a ton of love and care into every style. During quarantine, I did what we all do - bleached my hair. I WRECKED IT, and Tristan was my saving grace. While making me feel safe during COVID-19, he also made me feel cute again and we laughed the whole time. I am super happy to have found a salon that is open on Mondays. Thank goodness! my experience at Chroma Salon was wonderful. Upon arrival, I was pleasantly greeted by the owner (I have seemed to have forgotten his name). It was nice to have finally found a salon where they don't just brush you off once you've been checked in. Once I was in Jessica's seat, she took the time to ask me what I wanted with my haircut-- I told her that I just needed my bob reshaped and whatnot. I am not going to lie, I am always hesitant when I get my haircut, because not many hairstylists in Seattle have the patience to deal with cutting my thick Asian hair-- even if it is just a trim, it's a long process to get it all cut (haha). Jessica was super friendly and professional. It was refreshing to have someone who took the time to carefully cut my hair and thin it out. She made sure that every layer of my unruly hair was attended to, and that is something that I really appreciate. I also found out that there are complementary bang trims in between cuts-- which is also awesome since my hair grows so quickly. I'm from California and was in Seattle for work- I wanted to get a trim because my hair was so dry at the ends and it had been about a year since my last cut so I stepped out of my comfort zone and walked into this location hoping they would take walk ins. I contacted the salon for a last minute appointment to get my hair curled before a fancy event. I have long, thick hair that is slippery when clean and doesn't always hold curl well as a result. I came in with my hair two days unwashed so that it would be easier to style. My stylist used a special oil distributing shampoo that would pull the excess oil away from my roots and down throughout my hair so that it would still appear clean. She did a wonderful job curling my hair and let me know how to "drop it" just before the event so that it would look more natural and less "ring curls." I absolutely loved being in the salon - multiple people came over to fawn over my long hair and I felt gorgeous all night. Docked a star because the Aveda suite of products don't protect as well as others against humidity-related frizz, and my curls didn't hold up quite as long as I'd hoped. It was sprinkling on the way over to the event and my hair frizzed up and was a little worse for the wear. Still, I appreciated the experience and would gladly go back - maybe for a blowout next time. read more

I went to Seven salon for years, then Vain for years, and last year discovered Chroma as I needed an appointment at the last minute and my stylist at Vain was all booked up.
