I love home decor. I like changing pillow covers/pillows seasonally, sometimes rugs too. Bedding,…read moreas well. I have had to rely on stores like HomeGoods for kitchen gadgets, flower pots, garden stuff, sheets, towels, etc, since Tuesday Morning closed their stores. HomeSense has a large selection of furniture, lamps, art, and other accessories, as well as kitchenware. This particular time, I was on a mission. I needed a fabric-covered lidded box in navy and white. The search had so far proved fruitless. Marshall's had one box, in sage green with peach flowers. I went to HomeSense, and they had a blue and white lidded box! They also had gluten-free Italian pasta! I looked at the framed art, because I need a frame (not art) in a particular size for a canvas painting, but there wasn't one in the size that I needed. It's generally less expensive to buy framed art on clearance, keep the frame, and donate the art, than it is to buy an empty frame elsewhere. Strange but true. On a previous visit, I found two battery-operated wall sconces, which were exactly what I needed for my dining room. I also found some pink flamingo things, which were inexpensive and irresistible. I was also looking for one tier curtain, but they only had floral sets. I may have to sew one myself. They did have a huge selection of curtain panels. I spoke with one associate and the cashier, and they were both very pleasant. Prices are generally very reasonable, and they usually have a great selection of almost everything. It's similar to HomeGoods, but has much more furniture and lamps. There were some beautiful leather club chairs, which I may be able to use in the future. Hopefully they'll have some when I go back.

It's hit or miss and requires multiple visits to find things that fit the bill. As far as I'm concerned, spending time in a store like this is like being consigned to one of Dante's circles of hell. I'm not the target audience, though. If you like cruising and schmoozing and are patient, go for it. They should have a husband's area that serves stiff drinks and shows sports on big screen TVs.

Did not find any expired foods although I don't recommend anybody shop in a dollar store for food. Lots of cheaply-made items. No wonder they cost only $1. Example: a corkscrew got stuck in the cork of a wine bottle. I rushed out and bought a good one from the local wine store. Another example: a sink plunger did not dislodge the source of a clogged drain. I headed straight to Home Depot to buy an effective one. The Dollar Store is good for the purchase of seasonings. My chicken comes out so flavorful when I season it with Supreme Tradition Seasoning Salt and Italian Seasoning. Discard all bottles a few months after purchase, or else they will get cake up or/and get stale. This store is excellent for the purchase of birthday, anniversary and holiday cards. They also have a ballon center, gift bags and plenty of decorations. Lines move quickly except around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Large parking lot surrounds the building and fits about 40 vehicles. Most staff wear masks. Overall, I am satisfied with this store for some of my shopping needs.

I received my contact lenses by mail three days later. My optician was Howie, who told me that his resume includes over two decades of experience working for LensCrafters and Davis Vision, so I valued his opinion on each frame that I tried on. I purchased the one that he said looks best on me. The out of pocket costs were considerably less than what I would have paid at LensCrafters or Davis Vision, where I have been going for over 15 years. Both retail chains have gotten way too expensive even though I have premium vision insurance. My out-of-pocket costs for a luxury brand pair of glasses with progressive lenses are at least $300 now at LensCrafters or Davis Vision. At Costco Vision, I paid about $150. The only negative is that Costco Vision does not have an anti-fog option.
