This is one of those rare times when I look something up on Yelp and find that my own experience has been SO much different than the reviews. I do dislike the Riverhead Tanger Outlets overall- 99% of this stuff is low quality merchandise that was produced for the purpose of being sold at outlet stores at a fake "discount"- but this West Elm location is the one exception. I absolutely love this place. We have gotten some amazing deals here in recent months- I.e. 50% off on current-season furniture that is not even noticeably blemished in any way. But it's the sort of thing where you have to get lucky and stop in at the right time when they happen to have something that works for you. I stick my head in here for five minutes about once a week and it has really paid off. The employees are great and will wrap and help you load stuff into your vehicle. (They do offer delivery too, although I have not used that service yet.) This location is also pet-friendly and my dog is well-aware of the fact that they have treats at the counter... PS- The store maintains an instragram account (@westelmriverhead) where you can kind of get an idea of what is in stock that week. read more

Every time this store is visited... Looking around the whole place.. can't find anything of good quality or value. Not a rug, table, couch, towel... I keep trying and something about the items look not quite right.. like maybe Euro modern, not sold somewhere else, beat up a bit, shipped here, higher priced than should be for the outcast feel it all seems to have. When out here always feel inclined to look again and try. And will. If I find one thing I must have ... just once will raise the stars. read more

I've been going to Tanger Riverhead outlets for years now but I've never set foot into this West elm outlet store before. Finally the day comes when I enter and I gotta say I'm disappointed. I walked in, browsed and then left. I'm used to browsing West elm online, especially when they have a good sale. I like their styles and selection of products, but going to this outlet in person is just disappointing. Where do I begin? It was difficult to find anything here. The furniture was just laid out, the prices are still pretty steep for being an outlet. Some of their merchandise is damaged and the price is still pretty high for these items. They have some vases, paperweight and object knicknacks, and a kitchen section which is not as large as I would have thought. The space is large but it is not well organized. There are rows of furniture on display- just rows of chairs, rows of desks, making it difficult to navigate through the area without completely walking down the whole row. Toward the back there are some boxes leaning against the wall which I thought was hazardous and unsafe. Some areas are hard to walk around as the space narrows due to boxes or merchandise being there. At one point it felt like a maze. I was particularly interested in seeing if they had the duvet covers/shams I was browsing online that was on sale on the website, but sadly they were not available in this store. However I went home and found the same vase I had seen in this store as online. It seems like there is not much of a system as to what gets shipped to be sold at the outlet and what isn't. Product selection is limited here. Toward the front by the cashiers were discounted merchandise either in bins or on some shelves, a random collection of sorts. You couldn't really tell what the merchandise was, nor should you waste your time sifting through it. I visited on Labor Day weekend and there were only a few customers in the store. The parking lot layout is poorly planned. There is no way to reenter the Tanger Outlets without driving in a circle (meaning you have to exit the outlets and then reenter again). It's confusing and frustrating. It's good to know I didn't miss anything by not entering this store. I will continue to shop on their official website instead and save myself the headache of this store. read more

We needed a couch and we found one. The trick is to be open and willing to kind of take what you find. You'll find a lot of good things but they may have a defect. It will be impossible (almost) to find a pair of anything or a complete sectional couch so don't bother with that. But if you're looking for single items, e.g. couch, coffee table, arm chair, etc. it is a good choice. read more

I recently purchased a townhome in Country Point in Yaphank, NY. One of the reasons I purchased was because the staging of the homes were so beautiful and I was told some of the furniture was purchased at West Elm. My husband and I had an opportunity to visit yesterday the store in Riverhead, NY. As expected the furniture and just about everything in the store was beautiful. I wanted it all!!! I was about to purchase two beautiful night stands and a dresser (40% off). I notice two of the dresser two of the top draws were not working to well. I was advised by the gentleman who asked if we needed help to speak with the front desk. When my husband and I approached the gentleman at the front desk, I greeted him and passed him the three tickets for my purchase, as well told him that I notice two draws on the dresser were not working properly, if he would consider taking an additional off the sale price. He quickly said "no" that's the reason it's priced at such. While standing listening to him, my husband asked to use the men's room and was told by him (i.e. "C") that they were about to close that he can go next door to pottery barn and ask to use their bathroom. Once I got in my car, I started thinking about what just happen and was applaud. I'm about to spend over $1500 dollars in your store and your going to send me next store to pottery barn because you about to close? How rude and unprofessional is this? Just to add, we got to the store at 6:15-6:30pm. Also while we were leaving another couple and a child entered the store. I had an opportunity to call West Elm today and spoke with the store manager Robin. She was very attentive and apologize for our experience. and said she would speak to the store manager from yesterday evening. Who I'm just finding out was the store manager. How pathetic and unacceptable, unacceptable this behavior. Robin went on to explain how items are priced and how the store manager could have taken a walk with me as the potential buyer to see if additional could be taken off. Sadly the store manager from yesterday didn't even offer, flat out said no. Nonetheless, I share my story so that perhaps someone else does not experience what we did. Again, this manager lacked people skills, yet he will not stop me from visiting and purchasing from West Elm. What I'm happy about is that I had an opportunity to speak with Robin the store manager, who was helpful and had a good listening ear. As well confirmed that she would speak to the store manager from yesterday, which I'm glad because he needs to know his actions were unacceptable. I'm sure West Elm management team would not be impressed. Lastly, cultural diversity is so important and should be a training for all managers and staff in all public businesses. It truly helps those who have not been exposed to people that don't look like them an opportunity to learn about other cultures so that our individual perceptions can be broaden to understand other people differences. For starters, I want to acknowledge that this store moved some time in the past year. It is now located next door to Pottery Barn and William Sonoma where the old OfficeMax used to be. The new store is a lot larger than their previous location and has a very large selection of furniture. If this is your style of decorating and you are in the area, this is definitely a store worth a look. Now on to the reason for my two star review and why I will NEVER purchase furniture from this store!!! While I was browsing today, I noticed a woman waking a small dog on a leash. I have problem with people bringing their dogs shopping with them. I'll just put it out there right now. It's not that I don't like dogs. I love dogs. I just don't like dogs when I'm shopping, especially when their owners let them do whatever they want including jump on me and jump on the furniture. Not ok!!!! So, I watch this woman walking her dog around the store like it was in an amusement park. The dog was on the furniture digging into the cushions and rubbing it's parts on the upholstery. That's ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! I thought to myself, what would I do if I was an employee? My response, I would have approached the woman and asked her if she'd like that couch wrapped up? She had no intention of purchasing it. That was clear, so she didn't care how her dog was treating it. Apparently, none of the staff cared either because they saw and said nothing! Now, some poor unsuspecting person is going to purchase that couch, final sale, and be stuck with it. Hopefully they are not allergic to dogs. I don't get it. If I, a human being, had jumped on that couch while shopping with my mother when I was a kid, I would have been reprimanded. But for the dog, it was a free for all. Keep this in mind if you ever consider purchasing furniture here. And to the employees of West Elm, if you are going to allow customers to treat the furniture in this manner you should offer a LOT LARGER discounts and disclose this on the tags. I teetered with the idea of one star or two, and decided to give this store two stars for their large selection and friendly staff. I like walking around for the nostalgia factor. It reminds me of my grandparents home. But, I will NEVER purchase anything from this store!!! If you do, maybe limit yourself to their non upholstered items and definitely steer clear of their rugs! read more

Like Janice, I was so excited when the store opened a few months ago. I went out there and saw many of the things I have bought at a large discount. When I walked up there was a rack heavily discounted and I scored a clock I've had my eye on for under $15 normally $79 dollars and now I don't think they even carry it. It was in perfect condition and completes my living room. The great part- aside from saving a lot on things including headboards, is they also have the same sales i.e. an additional 20% off side tables this week. I looked this up because I want to go out there again and get some. I took my mother and sister who had never been in WE prior and it was the highlight for everyone. Love this place!! We bought a rug and a dinning table for a fraction of the regular price, nothing can beat. But bear in mind though, these discounted furniture or rug or others are from past seasons, or has some flaw or slightly discolored, ONLY if you don't mind. To me, for the big of a discount, I can live with a small dent or small scratch, as they will be scratch anyways in the future. By the way, there are many selections to choose from! Staff there are very helpful and friendly! West Elm outlet don't offer in-house delivery, but they have affiliation with some delivery company with extra charge (I live in Queens, two item will cost me $145, final price is still good though!) If you have or friend has a big truck, that would be helpful, save some money on delivery!! Definitely come back again for other stuff. :) read more

Delivery service is a NIGHTMARE. The company servicing Bronx delivery is HORRIBLE. JDF is the name. The person who schedules deliveries goes on an instant rant if you cannot be available the first window she suggests; then, guess what--they only deliver to the Bronx on the first and third Saturdays of the month. After that it is $100 week to hold the piece! They also will not schedule a window--you will be notified the night before which your p.m. choice being any time between Noon-7pm. The Riverhead store is okay; most items seem full priced with a small discount, maybe 20%. Best time to go is when entire categories are on sale--like nightstands 50% off. They did move into a bigger store so there is a wider selection than you may have found previously. In-store staff is very helpful. read more

This is totally my fault...I dragged my bf to this furniture outlet which was an hour and a half drive from where we live. In my mind and from where I come from (Florida) the word outlet means great affordable deals. Apparently that is not the case here in the north. I had such high hopes that I would be able to find some key pieces for our apartment (we just moved to NY and we need everything) we even rented a trailer and attached to our car and drove an hour and a half only to be sticker shocked! I could not believe how expensive things were in this "outlet store". You're much better off getting furniture online from places like wayfair or overstock.com not only is it affordable but they deliver it for free (as long as you spend $50). Lesson learned no more outlet adventures for me. read more

While I love West Elm furniture and love getting it at a bargain. The lack of customer service at this store is enough to make me think long and hard about trying to purchase there again. Every "manager" - how many managers (I spoke with 4) can one store have?! - gave me a different time frame for which they'd hold a piece of furniture.. All were pleasant, except the last who clearly didn't know a thing about customer service being the key to retaining good customers. FYI don't expect to ever get a call about an item you put on the "wish list" they flat out admit not being able to tend to it. read more

I frequent this area of Long Island as much as possible and was super excited to take my S.O. (+ our small dog) to the west elm Outlet and sister stores next door. I do not live close to the area by any means; however, I've personally been to these outlets over a dozen times and accumulated thousands of dollars of great furniture pieces and decor. That all changed this past Friday, March 24th, 2023 just around 1pm when my S.O. was kindly granted permission to use the bathroom by a west elm Outlet employee at the front checkout counter. He went ahead to the bathroom, I waited for him to finish up so I can go in next. As I approached the bathroom, I was stopped by an elderly female employee who (if her hands weren't full) would have absolutely wagged her finger in my face but thankfully all she did was aggressively tell me off in public in the most degrading of ways. I felt so disrespected and embarrassed by that experience that I'll never be back here again and I'll make sure everyone I've recommended this store to knows about this. Excellent outlet store. I had been looking at the 82" Harmony sofa and was going to purchase from the West Elm website. However, the website was showing that they were no longer in stock in that size, so on a whim I called the outlet store and they had the exact sofa I was looking for, and instead of it costing ~$2200 inc. tax & shipping I got it for ~$850 total! Managed to strap it to my roof rack for the 100 mile drive home, which was slightly stressful but turned out great. Awesome customer service and friendly staff. Store itself is unlike a normal west elm store, it's basically a warehouse and pretty bare bones. Definitely need to call before and make sure they have what you're interested in, assuming you're looking for something specific. Otherwise it has a fairly eclectic selection of what seemed to be old stock, returns and display items. Will definitely return. read more

Zero customer service. The outlet has a "no-touch" policy in place due to COVID-19, which makes it harder to shop, especially for things such as bedding or towels. I was frustrated by the fact that the employees were not helpful. Every time we wanted to purchase something in a different size, we had to walk all the way from the item to the register and then the employees wouldn't be too happy about helping us, saying things like "if you don't see it there, it's not there". read more

Customer service in here is great and you can find some deep discounts on open box items. However the delivery is nightmare - they hook you up with a truck driver, who came 1.5 hours later than he promised the same morning, despite me telling repeatedly that I had to leave at a certain time. He then somehow couldn't find the address on the right street, asked me to come down, and when I make it down he is already in the docking area unloading, without bothering to tell me no need to come down anymore. And of course I wouldn't tip after causing me missing my very critical meeting but hey they are not a cash registry so he takes the 25% more than the fee and slams the door in his way out. Wow, after having had to drive 2 hrs to get here, I expected so much more, boy was I wrong!! What a waste of time!! Within 2 mins I had already realized I made a mistake & I should've listened to the other poor reviews I had read about this place. They just don't have anything worth being a discount warehouse quite frankly. Their selection of furniture pieces was very sparse, and a lot of pieces were damaged beyond what should be allowable to sell on a sales floor! If you live close by, hey it's worth a pop over for a coffee & a stroll vibe, but if you're any kind of driving distance away, like more than 15 mins, honestly don't bother, unless you have a very specific piece in mind and call ahead. And truthfully, the discounted price was misleading as if you truly keep up w their website, you'll notice you're better off just ordering what you want when it's on sale bcuz there is not that big of a price diff between their sales prices vs their outlet prices. Recently moved and heard about this outlet through a friend. We've been here a bunch of times in the past month and bought a dining table, media console, entry table, coffee table, and a sofa from here. I was a little skeptical based on some of the reviews here, but I can now confidently say that the prices and the customer service are unbeatable and we are seeing more and more new items in boxes at this location, which makes the deals even better. We had the sofa and dining table delivered with no issues, and loaded the rest into our car spaced out over 2-3 weeks. Every single employee we met was sweet and helpful. Outlet prices are not that great but some discounts are better than nothing. Definitely saw a few big piece items on sale that were in the original store showroom in Manhattan. Be sure to check for damages or missing parts. It's literally like a warehouse where you have to dig through items especially in the back of the store. But at least they're in order. read more

Very disappointed with their bedroom furniture pieces. They use to have a large selection. Most of their dresses were severely damaged and there was not a large selection. This outlet mall is old and has lots of empty stores so I assume this West Elm is not getting the "good stuff" sent to them. This outlet store indefinitely worth heading to! They have a large selection of current merchandise on sale!! I bought a gray flannel pillow cover that was originally 79 dollars for 11 dollars and the insert pillow was 5 dollars! Wow! Also bought a throw blanket-just sorry I didn't buy the silver tree branch bottom side table that was on sale-but I will certainly be going back there- truly worth the trip! read more

I received the worst customer service in this West Elm Outlet. A few months ago I bought four dishes from the clearance area. They were being sold individually for $4. Each. They said they were microwave safe but they clearly were not. The first time I heated something up on the dish it cracked. It was not that hot. So I went in to browse the store yesterday and found the same dishes in the regular part of the store being sold as a set of four for $16.99. They were not packaged as a set. They were all stacked individually. When I told the salesgirl the story of my broken plate and asked if I could just buy one to replace the one that broke she said ,no, they are only selling them in quantities of four. When I asked if she could ask the manager she told me she was just going to say the same thing. I asked her to please ask anyway. She did begrudgingly, but first asked the manager another question while hiding the plate behind her back! End of story....they would not sell me a $4 plate. They would rather loose a customer .....which they did. read more
