Ate lunch here even though it has lower stars. I usually only do 4 and higher. After we ordered the lady at the counter tried giving us the wrong shrimp. I told her that wasn't what we ordered. She was a bit argumentative with me. I insisted she get us what we ordered. My friend and I shared an order of tacos and 1/2 pound of shrimp. Probably wouldn't order it again, slightly bland and a bit on the sweeter side, most likely cause of the crab. Clam chowder - good, liked it a lot more than the crab chowder. This little restaurant/hut is located right behind the Fisherman's Warf sign. There's two sides to this place. One is more of a order at the window and find a seat. And the other side has a full bar, fire pits, and tv's. So if you're looking a quick bite or have a few drinks with some friends then this is the place to go. I go recommend checking out the bar side because they have a happy hour from 3pm-5pm of food and drinks. I actually stopped by there three times in a span of five hours. The clam chowder bowl inside the sour dough bread was amazing! We ordered multiple bowls. The service is fast and friendly with many seating options. Came to San Fran for the views, the beach, the chowder and to get out of the Sacramento valley and the walls of my house. I've never been so excited to take a a little road trip in search of some good clam chowder! I will say it was weird to see Pier 39 and that surrounding area with so few people but it was really nice! We walked across the street toward the water and found some benches to sit and eat our grub. The chowder was pretty good plus they actually gave us the sourdough bread bowls separate so the bread wouldn't get soggy. The calamari was a generous serving that came with fries. They also provided ketchup and tartar sauce. I enjoyed this meal immensely! Stopped here for lunch, it was cool they had a glass box to show you all the meals so you could visually see it which was neat and easy to help you decide. We got the clam chowder soup and peel and eat shrimp. I would say you get what you expect from a tourist location. The clam chowder was more potato focus than clam and the shrimp was tasty, just a big process in trying to get the shell off and eat it. You hands will get messy! So be sure to wash them afterwards. Lousy service and rude ass servers! Terrible treatment of customers didn't even bother opening the fire pit. Told everyone there was a 30-45 minute wait for food. There were seats available but turned alot of people away I guess they were understaffed but didn't warrant being rude to customers. Came here during fleet week w a few friends. The line is speedy and they call your order on the intercom when it's ready. Service isn't the friendliest. But I assume they get all kinds of tourists in this area so the wait staff could be snappy. The fried fish sandwich was fine but oily and kinda greasy. Walked in excited to try some San Francisco seafood with my family for the first time, but the excitement was quickly gone after we made contact with the SINGLE staff member on the floor, which I will refer to as Tweedle Dee because of his bald round stature. I asked if we seat ourselves which he replied rudely "yes just sit wherever" and then immediately bumped into me walking past. We sat confused for about 5-6 minutes until he finally brought over menus and walked away again. The menus do not say what comes with each meal, or the price for drinks. After the second time we asked what a certain meal came with, he started rolling his eyes. When we asked how much a drink was he replied "uhh, I don't know. Maybe like $4 or something". The food was super expensive and tasted very bland. After paying we saw ourselves out, no goodbye or farewell or thanks for coming from anybody. We all got tired of strolling down Embarcadero so we opted for a sit down restaurant instead of the food stalls around the Wharf. At the entrance, there was a display sample of the goodies they offer here. We checked the price and thought it's reasonable enough to treat us all with more than a clam chowder. Altogether we feasted on a Hotdog, Burger, Fried Shrimp and of course, Clam chowder. It's a self-serve restaurant where you place your order in a window, pay and wait until your order number is called. Order didn't take long. We visit this grill every time we come to San Francisco. Their food is great at better prices than the surrounding locations. Their outdoor seating are has tables and chairs which are comfortable metal chairs and tables. Some create surrounds around gas fires for warm relaxing times with small groups for drinks and food. We spent the weekend staying near Fisherman's Wharf. We tried several different places. We stopped in while waiting for the ferry to Sausalito for a drink and snack. We didn't want to eat so we could eat in Sausalito. Drinks were actually relatively inexpensive here and we loved the outdoor location. Monica was so great and personable and let us taste the crab chowder so we would return which we did the next day. Everything was wonderful again except the bartender Had zero personality. Had he served us the day before we would not have returned. Luckily we had Monica first and she was awesome.
