There are reviews that have commented on their prices, but I believe it is reasonably priced for the amount of sushi grade fish you get. If it were any cheaper I would be sketched out by the raw fish. I really enjoyed the freedom of getting unlimited toppings! The tempura crunchies are a must! The only thing stopping me from giving five stars is that my bowl turned out to be very salty. I dressed my fish with the ponzu sauce and the chili garlic shoyu, along with some other sauces. In the end it was pretty salty so I think whoever prepares the food could be more mindful of the amount of soy-based salty sauces they throw into the poke. This is always our go to for quick dinner dates! I don't think anywhere else in SB compares to this poke place. You start off with your choice of a small, medium, or a large bowl. I always pick the medium bowl that allows you to choose 3 proteins. You choose your base (salad, rice, sushi rice, or a mixture of both), choose your 3 proteins, choose your sauce, and your toppings which are unlimited. To create a bowl like mine do: Medium bowl with sushi rice double orders of tuna and 1 order of spicy tuna. I always ask for a combination of spicy mayo and ponzu. I love poke! I really like the concept of half poke and half boba tea house. It provides a great place to grab food (healthy) and also sit down to get some boba with friends. I have been waiting for SB to open a place like this!! They are very generous with their poke (all fishes and the sides and toppings). My personal favorite is the House Ponzu sauce and Spicy Mayo ~ delicious! I also love the unlimited toppings you can get with your poke (seaweed salad, cilantro, masago, green onions, fried onions, jalapeños). The boba are made fresh daily, i know because you can taste the difference! The tea selections are limited for now due to their soft opening, but I can't wait for the full menu! When PokeMee first opened, I was excited for the new poke shop that SB/Goleta was getting! It was probably the first poke place in the area, so I had high expectations for it. I was pleasantly surprised with how clean the restaurant is! Seating areas are many and was also surprised of the boba bar on the other side of the restaurant! So you know I had to get both. The poke itself was good, it was fresh, and was made well. The toppings and white rice were good, but the rice was a bit weird to me (I think it was kind of hard) but good none the less. The price points were fair, but they're different from the last time I came (I think it's $9.99 for 2 scoops and I don't remember the rest). Sometimes they are stingy, so I would look out for that. The boba is the best in SB! The only problem is the prices are relatively steep for their milk teas. The tea is strong and kind of sweet. It's a great mix. Have been here many times through the past 3 years, but I think the management (??) or maybe just the staffed workers has changed and decreased the quality of service and food at Choppa Poke. Service was real straightforward & blunt; no smiles, just scoop into bowl, tell you how much it is, and no goodbye afterward LOL but it's chill Ordered a small bowl, which was heavily drenched in sauce (maybe ask for less sauce), so much that even the rice at the very bottom of the bowl was heavily soaked. They don't give very many pieces of fish either :( Ordered a drink (an Oolong Milk Tea with Boba) that ended up being nearly $5....fell so short of expectations. :( I'm from the Bay and am also a frequent visitor in LA/626 where boba is plentiful, and this drink tasted like water + sugar (no Oolong flavor at all so idk what happened there wahhhh) Definitely doesn't taste like the Snocrave up in South Bay Area, so maybe tread cautiously when ordering drinks. I honestly come here at least once a week, whether it be for poke or for a boba drink. The quality of fish is pretty darn good considering that we live in SB. The price is definitely pretty up there so I wouldn't recommend it if you're on a budget. The main reason why I give it 3 stars is because the customer service is usually awful. Half the workers if not all are local college students who really could care less about your interaction within the store. Some of the workers don't even have a clue about the products they are selling. Most of the time you can see the guys behind the boba bar on their cell phones. It's pretty frustrating because you can go to a McDonald's and get ten times way better service. Of the 30-40 times I've been here there was only one girl who had amazing customer service. I wish I got her name so I could shout her out but every time I've been back she wasn't working. So if you're craving poke and don't like human interaction, this will be a good place for you. The most striking thing about this place is how fresh the food is. There isn't a single smell or aftertaste of fishiness in the poke. When it comes to the rice, it is subtly sweet with a good chew and void of any mushiness. The seasoning in the toppings and fish are pretty plain which allows the freshness of the ingredients to stand and shine on their own. Not many poke places can do that without you feeling a little worried for your stomach. You can really taste the quality here. The innate flavors of the ingredients are so individually flavorful that they create a harmonious cacophony where each bite is uniquely different. I've been here a handful of times now, and this is a SOLID poke place. There are plenty of protein option including non spicy fish and spicy mush version. What makes this place stand out is the array of sauces. The spicy ponzu is my absolute favorite, alongside the wasabi mayo--something I haven't seen elsewhere. Mix one of those sauces with the fish and some cucumbers and you're in for a treat! This has been a 5* lunch spot since opening, until today. We are loyal here, at least once a week but likely won't be back anytime soon. Prices have gone up, you are now over $15 for a single bowl and food quantity has gone down. Less scoops of protein (4 scoops now vs 5 previously) and more expensive. Sure they throw in the imitation crab for free now, but TBH it ruined the bowl. All you taste is the imitation crab. This is sad, because that slight price increase will turn away many people who are looking for an affordable lunch. One time, the employee dropped my egg (tamago) and so he gave me a new one free of charge! And guess what - I came when they were closing and after he dropped the sweet egg, he was out in the tray in front of him. So he went to the back and had to open a new package and slice a new one. Great food but HORRIBLE customer service. The employees barley know any English so it was hard for them to understand what I wanted. They got my order wrong so I tried to see if I can get their manager to help. The employees could barley understand me when I was telling them my order was wrong so they just gave me the restaurants phone to contact the manager. the "manager" said she couldn't remake it or refund me and kept interrupting me over the phone. I then asked if she knew the owner of the restaurant and she said it was her. It's great. But they really should have Wild Salmon so people can eat here everyday. They use farmed Salmon which is incredibly high in mercury and PCB and not recommended more then once a week. Looking forward to seeing a Wild Salmon option! read more
