    Chicken Katsu apparently??
    Ye L.

Our vegetarian friends warned us that they ordered from this place mainly because it's cheap for veggie rolls. I'm not sure why we decided to try it out as well. The food was not great. The shrimp roll we ordered for take out got mixed up and instead got a salmon roll which wasn't particularly fresh. The chicken katsu somehow ended up being more like chicken nuggets but even smaller instead of a filet. The prices weren't even particularly low. When we called to complain about the wrong order, they took ages to understand the issue and didn't offer a refund, instead making us come back to get a shrimp roll. Not sure how this exists in an area with plenty of better options.

I haven't been here in a while but it is a convenient spot when nothing is open or craving OK Japanese food. I don't know what is wrong with their staff though. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bowl but they were takeout only, 9 pm No problem. When I asked for a to go cup for water, though, they handed me a small, lidless clear cup. When I asked for a normal to gp cup that I could actually use in the car ( I have a long drive), the cashier shook her head vehemenltly lime I was about to rob the register. I said, you are to-go only so why won't you give me a to-gp cup? You can watch me fill it up if u r that worried about me stealing diet coke. Like, there were literally two staff people staring at me not more than 5 feet from me. LOL. Still she shook her head like a total weirdo. So I cancelled my order and had them refund my money. Not gonna pay someone for food when they won't give me water. WTF

    Spicy Tuna and Chicken Katsu

Good amount of food for the price. Spicy Tuna roll was quite tasty, though the texture of the tuna was on the mushy side. Chicken Katsu was a very generous portion, not the best but a sold decent katsu. Staff was great, food was fast. They even gave me extra ice for my ice pack (driving home after surgery in LA.) Solid 4 stars up and down.

    Spider Roll

Fast, tasty, filling, and great price. We went in to grab some food to go, and ended up ordering a combo and a spider roll. Definitely go for the combo!! It's such a good deal, especially for the Santa Barbara area. The combo was amazing: miso soup, a california roll, and a chicken teriyaki bowl all for $13!! What a steal. And pretty solid all around!! The miso soup was my favorite part, as it was just a perfect warm comfort on a chilly night. The spider roll was alright. Loved the soft shelled crab; it was perfectly crispy and delicious. But the wide roll was cut into slices so thin that everything would fall apart upon picking it up, making it a bit messy and frustrating to eat. The side salad it came with was great though!!

This is the Chicken Katsu... more like Chicken KatsuMediocoreNuggets. Also my spicy tuna roll was mostly avocado... Would not come here again

No flavor on the bulgogi bowl. I ordered seaweed salad and they put it ON top of salad mix??? Like I've never seen that before what the. Very mid food and not worth the pricing honestly

Not really a sushi place. I ordered two rolls. Had a hard time finding the fish. Might be a good place if you don't want raw fish.

The tonkotsu ramen is the star. I always get the Kuro with the black garlic oil, which is hands down my favorite. The broth is incredibly thick, rich, and full of flavor. You can really tell the quality of the pork and the care that goes into the broth every single time. My dad usually goes for the classic tonkotsu with garlic, and it is just as solid and comforting. I always add extra pork, corn, scallions, a little spice, and extra black garlic oil. That black garlic oil takes it to another level with this smooth, garlicky, creamy depth that is unreal. Portions are generous for the price, which makes it even better. Service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and quick, from taking our order to refilling our drinks. We felt taken care of the whole time. If you are in the Santa Barbara area and looking for a reliable, high-quality ramen spot with amazing broth and great service, this place is an easy recommendation.

I found it really odd to not even be told to use the QR code to order or be informed of anything. Stewed beef noodles with Ramen- 9/10 My husband ordered this and I tried some. The broth was delicious. Rich and flavorful but not overbearing. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the meat was tender. The bok choy was a needed touch. My husband ate the whole bowl and wanted a second because was so good. Certified Angus Beef hot pot- 8/10 I ordered this with the tom yum broth. I didn't know it was a creamy version of the broth until it was served. I'm not mad about it but it wasn't in the description in case others are dairy sensitive. The broth was flavorful and really delicious. I will say that the beef was tough and it a typical cut that overcooked very quickly in the broth. I'm not positive it was Angus beef grade. I just now realized it was missing the lotus root but gave me zucchini instead. I was also missing my quail eggs. If I didn't read the description to know I was supposed to have them, I would've missed that too. Overall, the food was delicious but the service was 1 star for sure. We were never checked on and the waiter only appeared if we pushed the call button. If you can overlook the lack of customer service, the food is really delicious.

Personal preference but, I believe it is a crime to not have brisket when serving pho. The only options left were dry, tougher cuts that felt very mediocre. Regarding the broth, it was overwhelmingly bland. It was extremely clear and had minimal fat. Again personal preference but, it seems they had extracted all of the fat after simmering the beef and that left the broth so lackluster. We also got the Thai tea and my girlfriend thought it was delicious. Regarding the ambiance, I think Noodle City tries their best making use of their limited space. However, it wasn't very clean: the spoons were a bit dirty, it seemed like the floor isn't cleaned often, and the utensil/condiment holder on our table was a mess with the chopsticks about to fall off the table. As for the service, they had plenty on their hands tonight as a ~12 top came in shortly after us and they a line out the door until right before we left. They checked in multiple times, however, we did have to mention our thai tea was forgotten and got it AFTER our pho came out. It also seemed like there was an altercation with a male server and the party of 12: orders were confused and he yelled "well figure it out". Overall, I've been to Noodle City for ~3 years and I think they have GREAT rice dishes. However, their pho is pretty mediocre, service is often fast but not friendly, and prices are always CHEAP.
