This place has been mine and my boyfriend's FAVORITE Poke spot for years, my favorite for even longer. We absolutely LOVED Yabee and Johnny (the two workers at the front) and were treated very well throughout these years. However, today my boyfriend went back there to pick us up a poke bowl. It has been about a month of us not eating here (we got busy). Unfortunately it doesn't seem Yabee and Johnny are working anymore which is a huge bummer. He came home with a said "large" poke bowl that he paid $35 for. For the base he asked for light mixed greens, and for the protein and toppings he asked for salmon, tuna and imitation crab. When he came home, I immediately noticed there was a SIGNIFICANT decrease in the fish portioning, especially for the "large bowl". The only reason the bowl was filled, was because it was mostly lettuce. I kid you not when I say our bowl was filled with about 90% lettuce and greens and about 10% actual fish and toppings. We have NEVER experienced this before and for the price we paid, I would expect anyone to be treated to MUCH better portions of fish. The bowl didn't even remotely fill either of us up and we were both left just as hungry as before. I wish I had taken a photo of what it looked like when we were done, as the bowl was STILL filled to the brim with lettuce. I'm not sure if we were just personally jipped this time but I sincerely hope this isn't the new way this place will be handling their business. I am pretty bummed about this. read more

Really good joint overall! There's a ton of variety and a desert restaurant right next door which is pretty dope. We came around 8:30 pm, 30minutes before closing, and the staff was super duper nice, welcoming, and accomodating. We got three regular scoops with two tuna, one salmon for one bowl, and three regular scoops of spicy ahi tuna and tuna for the second. The staff was super nice and gave us extra fish. We then got some edamame, fried onions, masago, shredded seaweed, cilantro, hot Cheetos, and pineapple, which the staff piled on. It was overall tons of food for the amount we paid which was really nice of them, especially since we bothered them so close to closing. The location is a little bit outside Santa Barbara which is ok, but this is the best poke joint in the area as many have said! It hits right, the food was a bomb, and the staff is super duper nice. Generous portions of protein, there are cooked and raw choices, and all the sauces are different and good. Service has been quick and they typically have all of the choices. The ambiance of the restaurant is basically what is expected from a poke take out spot. There are a few tables but it is nothing to write home about. I never eat there so can't comment too much. For me, that means 2 scoops of fresh ahi and 1 of spicy tuna. Like all poke bowl spots, be careful if you order any mayo sauce options as you will quickly be asking for poke with your mayo. I like some ponzu sauce and a touch of wasabi mayo to go along with almost all the toppings + extra ginger. It's always fast and mostly polite service. I do feel compelled to dock a star for the prices. A medium will run you $20 with tax. Considering it's delicious and healthy, I'll splurge every now and again, but I'm just not sure how long it can survive. So far so good and I'm glad it's there. This is by far the best poke in SB/Goleta! I've never seen a poke place be so generous with the fish and I love it. Their small bowl is 2 "scoops" of protein plus toppings for $14.95, but for each protein choice they always do 3 scoops, so you actually get 6 scoops of protein! The fish is always so tasty and fresh; my go-tos are ahi tuna, salmon, octopus, spicy tuna, and spicy salmon, but they have other options too such as yellowtail. What's also nice is they don't overload your bowl with rice, unlike most poke places I've been to. Here I mixed brown rice with mixed greens and added many delicious toppings: masago, seaweed salad, initiation crab, edamame, ginger, corn, tempura, cucumber, and cilantro. They also have a variety of sauces... I like it spicy so I go with spicy ponzu and spicy. Lastly, the service is always friendly and the restaurant is clean. What better post-Costco run than a poke fix? Choppa Poke is doing takeout or dine outside with limited seating. Service was really quick when I went on a Saturday afternoon. Portions are HUGE. Really happy with this spot opening in Goleta! Not only is the fish super fresh, but the portions are generous for even the smallest size and the toppings are so diverse. I loved being able to mix different sauces and include all the toppings I wanted. I ordered a small bowl with ahi and salmon with a bunch of different toppings, ponzu and spicy mayo, and then perfectly cooked white rice. I was very happy with it, but I will say that I was a bit disappointed by how high the prices are.
