If I could give zero stars I would. After eating chicken at Chompie's, my friend and I both came down with food poisoning! Mine was bad and his was minor (he ate a piece of my chicken and thought it seemed off). FYI for people who aren't familiar, food poisoning takes 2 to 8 hours to kick in. Stomach flu takes 24-48 hours. That being said, about two hours after eating there, I felt nauseous and sick to my stomach. Half an hour later I started throwing up and within minutes, I had horrible diarrhea. I continued to throw up, have uncontrollable diarrhea, chills, an upset stomach and a fever the rest of the night. This went into the next day and I'm still recovering (two days later). When my mom called to speak with the manager, Michael, he was dismissive and rude. He tried to tell her that food poisoning doesn't happen that fast (it DOES) and argued that the food was not expired. He was rude, dismissive and wouldn't even address the fact I got sick there. While I understand that businesses aren't going to take ownership for giving someone food poisoning because they're afraid of lawsuits, he could've been respectful and said how can we help the situation? Something along the lines of "While we aren't admitting guilt, I'd like to refund your daughters bill"... Anything that shows customer service and concern! Instead, he was incredibly rude. My friend went down today to complain and the manager was again rude! He gave my friend a number for a lawyer and told him to pas it on to his sister. I'm not the sister and clearly the manager wasn't listening to my mom or friend. When I called to get the number for corporate, the "owner" gave me a 602 number that does not link to corporate, it links back to the Scottsdale and Arrowhead locations. At this point I will be filing a report with Maricopa county, CDC, and going through corporate. What could've been a simple "we're sorry your daughter is sick" has now became a heinous, dismissive, unprofessional restaurant refusing to take ownership or even acknowledge that they could've just killed me. read more

This place is awful. There's nothing New York about it at all. I tried it twice and will never go back; I was physically sick after eating there on both occasions. Other than the disgusting food, the wait staff are unfriendly and not attentive whatsoever. Husband and I decided to stop at this location and eat. We have never been to Chompies before and after our treatment I dont know if I ever will again. Sad enough it wasnt even the servers. We came in through the bakery side and the gentleman told us to go into the restaurant and find a seat. So we walked around and we sat down and the hostess was so damn rude. I told her we could move to a different table, she slammed the menus down on the table and told us to just stay. We sat at the table closest to the register and bar. She started yelling at the servers and the gentleman who was cleaning the tables. So much disrespect of an individual in this location I assumed she was a supervisor. The way she spoke to her colleagues was out of line and I feel bad for the staff that has to listen to and take this abuse. We only stayed because our server and the other staff made us feel welcome. She on the other hand does not represent your company well. And if this is how you allow your associates to talk to other, I will never step foot in this place again. The food was amazing but not worth having to listen to her yell, complain and be disrespect to others. In my opinion she makes this place a hostile environment. Someone needs to remind her she's replaceable but apparently she believes shes not. The star rating is not based on Anastacia, she woundnt get 1 star from me. But the 5 star is from the rest of the amazing staff you have here. They deserve it. She deserves the un employment line. Maybe she will learn how to treat her coworkers. Side note - A lady named Sarah was your manager tonight. Had it not been for her, we would have left. This is my absolute favorite bagel place anywhere! They've got a dozen or more different flavored bagels, my favorite is the spinach everything bagel with their veggie and southwestern cream cheese. The cream cheeses are ridiculously good. So full of flavor! They run a $4.99 special with pancakes and eggs, worth every penny! We have never had an issue here, whether it be eating in at the cafe or getting a bite to go. The staff is very friendly and helpful and willing to give a recommendation if needed. My husband chose Chompie's for his birthday lunch. He'd been there a while back with a friend and wanted to go back and try other things, I thought Chompie's was just bagels. Oh no, my friends! There is a full menu of all sorts of lovely deli and other items. So much choice, in fact that we'd gone through the free pickles and our waters before we had gotten around to choosing. I had cheese blintzes that were perfectly filled and fluffy. My husband had a side of latkes and a side of kishka. My daughter had sliders with latkes and brisket. We shared. There was so much we had to take some home. I haven't had brisket in years. My mother used to make it for holidays when I was a kid and although Chompie's had it on the menu, no way was I going to try it. It couldn't be as good as the memories. But, there ya go, if you're lucky, you learn something new every day. The brisket rocks!!!! The latkes were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. My husband said the kishka was good. I can't speak to that 'cause I don't care for kishka, I know. I'm sorry. If you like kishka, I'm sure Chompie's is excellent. For dinner, for a small lunch -- this is the place to go if you're at the mall. I went here with my family for my 19th birthday and so far it's been one of the best birthday meal I've ever experienced. The staff is nice, friendly and helpful. Wasn't very impressed with this location. I ordered the Long Islander sandwich with French fries. The roast beef that was on the sandwich was VERY dry. So dry, that it was inedible. The turkey and the bread however were great. The fries were also very good. I also ordered a small slice of carrot cake which was fairly moist and flavorful. That being said however, the almonds and frosting had an obvious stale taste. They also offered us a tray of pickles to snack on while we waited. The pickles tasted terrible and were very inconsistent. Some were very sour, others weren't pickled at all. The only reason I gave three stars instead of two is due to the service. I had visited another location when I just moved to phoenix a few years ago. I saw Man Vs Food and I was enticed into trying the Jewish Sliders. I wasn't that much of a fan. I found it to be too much carb and not enough meat. The gf and I were wondering around at the mall and wanted to eat something different so I revisited Chompies. We could tell by looking around that the serving sizes were pretty generous and it was lunch so we didn't want to be incapacitated for the day after a food overdose so we decided we'd try to share and see how it went. We settled on Classic Grandpa Rubys, we opted for the corned beef. We were both impressed with the size of the sandwich and glad we decided to share. Between the fries, which were also pretty solid, and coleslaw we were satisfied. The corned beef was really good and I'll say it was some of the best corned beef I've ever had. That being said the prices are a little much in my opinion. It's 16.99 for one sandwich which satisfied us but for two people wasn't that much food. For that I give it minus a star, but it is what it is. We both wanted to come back and try some other sandwiches. read more

They seated us right away (we did call ahead & let them know we were coming), & we had a fantastic experience!! Our server BRANDON was FANTASTIC! He (& the kitchen of course) made sure everyone's food came out together, kept waters, coffees, & mimosas full, anticipated all our needs, & everyone's food was so tasty!! Went in this morning after looking online at the menu. The online menu states that you have Orlys Gluten Free French Toast. I was told by both the Hostess and the person working on the Delu side that there is no such thing. If this is true REMOVE IT FROM YOUR ONLINE MENU! Been here once and order a tooon of food delivery from them (through Doordash). We had just discovered this place shortly after moving here as they have gluten free items. We usually order the gluten free everything bagel sandwich with roast beef and it's always delicious (they give quite a bit of meat)! The best part is that they have a gluten free peanut butter brownie that is to die for! We have only had an issue twice where the bagel wasn't what we had ordered (the receipt did list what we had asked for). If it's a different gluten free one then it's fine but there was once when my boyfriend couldn't eat it because they had given us regular instead. For the most part it has been good hence the 4 stars. If you aren't gluten free then I recommend the Monte Cristo (batter dipped-deep fried sandwich). I love that this place is in the mall because I can entice my boyfriend to spend an extra 20 minutes shopping if it means we can go here after hehe. read more

So we love Chompie's in Tempe and wanted to try this one since it is closer. Though in a mall they do have plenty of seating in and out side. The bakery side allows you to order a bite on the go or some yummy bakery items. Pros- same traditional menu and the servers are really nice. The place is mostly clean and the outside seating area is heated in the winter and cool in the summer. I love the spinach everything bagel with veggie cream cheese. Cons- the tables are fit for 4 but the can move stuff around for larger tables. There is no full booth seating. While we were sitting at the table the busser cam out and added another table and chair to ours in prep for another large party. Please wait for the first party to leave before preparing for the next. The western sliders were delivered cold. Timing of the food needed to be better planned. read more

We've been going here for a number of years-great sandwiches, soup etc. however the place has gotten progressively dirty, especially on the patio. Dirt and litter festering in the corners, tables left unbussed, tables dirty, birds all over and at times picking at leftover food on the tables. We were so embarrassed when we brought friends there for the first time. Staff is not enthusiastic and not well trained. Also, the bread was stale--extremely disappointed. We have loved visiting Chompie's and decided to go check out how they are doing with the pandemic safety requirement. We had a great visit. The tables are distanced, salt and pepper come in tiny packages, menus a were wiped down and our server Brandon wore a mask - PROPERLY! And wore gloves. So we felt very comfortable eating there. The Brunch was delicious - The Breakfast Burrito and Breakfast Tacos were a lovely change of pace. We will return soon. It is great to have a safe place to eat out. read more

I suggest taking a look at it before going to the restaurant to decide if you want breakfast from the all-day breakfast service, a deli sandwich, traditional Jewish fare, or a hearty dinner. My husband went for the pastrami sandwich, while I ordered the Jewish sliders plate. It came with three sliders on challah bread, with brisket, potato latkas, cheese, and brisket gravy for dipping. They were delicious and hearty. My husband said his sandwich was just OK, and the pastrami was in need of salt. My brother ordered the spinach omelet and also said it was just ok, and a little tough. He wasn't a fan of the omelet ingredients being piled on top of the eggs. Chompie's also has baked items galore, from loaves of braided challah bread to iced brownies. My niece got a decorated Minion cupcake and I took home a brownie. I would return to try other menu items. read more

My only complaint is that prices have increased and the pea soup which is terrific was not served with bagel chips as was the norm and now is served with saltines. But this is our favorite place for breakfast, service is friendly and attentive (this applies to most of the employees). -Except for one time that they wanted me to throw away my drink from Starbucks, they said we couldn't have it in a Starbucks cup and wanted us to cover it up or throw it away, I didn't understand why but that was the only time this happened- Besides that incident i wouldn't have any other complaints. If you get in early you will usually get a free sample of their breads or muffins which are always yummy. They have a large selection of items and everything I've tried is good, just know that most of their entree's can be quite large (which is not a bad thing) so most dishes can be shared. We just got home from a very unpleasant experience with an assistant manager named Billy at Chompy's Deli at Arrowhead Mall in Glendale, Arizona. A confrontation arose over my wife giving her service dog something to eat. We had been informed by the General Manager John that we could not order an food expressly for my wife's service dog but she had to order food for herself. We had frequented this establishment for many years with not a single issue. The food came to the table. This Assistant Manager Billy stormed over to our table and in a rude arrogant voice said we could not feed our dog. He informed it was against state law which I accepted. He then proceeded to get in my face when I told him I objected to his tone of voice. He then proceeded to escalate the situation by again getting closer right to my face. I told him to back up and proceeded to ask me what I was going to do. The incident then degenerated into a shouting match as he proceeded to dare me to get physical with him. The General Manager came over and intervened I requested that Billy leave the area so I could talk to the General Manager, which Billy refused to do. I asked him three times to leave the area and he just stood there with a glare on his face. Finally the General Manager ordered him to leave. All that needed to be done was to approach us in a respectful manner instead of a demeaning, hostile one. Our service dog is registered and trained. He was in a special cart and was not creating any disturbance. I wish to thank General Manager John for helping defuse the situation by ordering the disrespectful employee to leave: we had them box our food and we left. I will be filing a complaint with the ADA. We have eaten in this establishment for years. Sadly, we will not be back. read more

Excellent lunch. Although this location in inside the mall, with an entrance both from the outside and from inside, the restaurant itself is nice and spacious and we were seated quickly. Huge menu with tons of options. They tend to be on the more expensive side as far and sandwich prices go, but they don't disappoint with portion size. Meats, breads, and sides are all fresh and just about worth the price tag. They also have a gluten free menu (as well as a GF kids menu). I had the Rachel Motown (corned beef) on grilled sourdough instead of rye. It was huge but I managed to eat the whole thing. It came with a large side of fries and I substituted the coleslaw for potato salad because there is slaw on the sandwich. After doing that I realized that I now had two potato items. The potato salad is good but I should have kept the slaw since there was minimal on my sandwich. Kids had a grilled cheese with fries and a burger on a GF bun with fruit salad. Both enjoyed their meals. Even if you aren't spending your day at the mall, I would still recommend coming here to eat...fairly easy to get in, park, and leave when you are finished. If you are mall walking, this is definitely better than anything you are going to find in the food court. read more
