I have grown up in the Valley all my life and have been eating at Chompies for as long as I can remember. Sadly, this last time may just be our last. My husband and I waited to be sat in a practically empty restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes before receiving waters or acknowledged period. When we finally placed our order he waitress seemed annoyed with us! Just being there... We ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches and 2 sodas. That plus the tip was $71!!!! And when she flipped her iPad around the tips started at like $20% and up! And the sandwiches seemed smaller then usual. Absolutely terrible experience at this location! Never again! Such a bummer. I should have requested a refund it was such a disappointment.

This is a picture of the $16.99 crunchy munchy chicken wrap my upgraded side was a $1.49 cup of soup. Boy have time changed I put the pepper shaker behind the wrap to show the proportion. Each half of the wrap is approximately 2"tall. With 3 small pieces of chicken. Nevertheless was extremely unhappy with the wrap. The Mushroom Barley soup and service was great! Not sure we will be back!

Fast friendly service. The sandwiches were freshly prepared and so big. The Lox & Loaded I ordered was piled so high I could not get my mouth around it, so I had to half the half to eat it. The flavors were incredible. The Neil sliders were juicy and flavorful. This location has a casual feel and located by the mall. Delicious New York deli flavors.

It isn't New York and it is still missing something but if New York had a little half cousin in the valley this would be it. I order corn beef and pastrami sandwich. It didn't make me swing my feet or wiggle my toes but I did do a head nod of approval. The sandwich was good. I still had better. Try it for yourself you may like it!

Barrio Bread collaboration with Chompie's is a great addition

UPDATE May 2025: Yay for now selling the Barrio Bakery/Chompie's bagels! It's not easy to get Barrio Bread out our way, so I was very excited that they and Chompie's teamed up on a few varieties of bagels. I tried the Focaccia style and it was loaded with rosemary and smelled so good upon opening the bag. Toasting them really brought out the flavor. I don't believe they are a boiled bagel so if you are looking for that true NY shiny outside style, these are not them, but the dough itself is unique, so read about it on Barrio's site. They are c. $2+ each and sold in a 1/2 dozen bag, so yeah, they are pricey, but they are a really tasty treat and you are helping two great local companies and more. The flour comes from Hayden Mills, BKW Farms, and other items are also sourced locally and benefit groups such as San Xavier Cooperative Farm on the Tohono O'odham Nation in the ancestral village of Wa:k.

In 1997, our family pulled into Scottsdale and began a new life. We settled into the 92nd and Shea area and started to explore the neighborhood. We found Chompies and it became a weekly treat. The food was amazing! The pickles on the table could only whet the appetite. It stood apart from other restaurants. Fast forward a quarter century. We are now grandparents and our closest Chompies is at Arrowhead Mall. We have introduced it to many friends. Alas, I have decided to no longer go to the restaurant. My husband will have to get his Monte Cristo elsewhere. Why? The management of the Arrowhead location has boldly and consistently failed to make their restrooms clean. I have stood in puddles of questionable fluid to relieve myself. I have had dresses and skirts made wet. It is disgusting and shameful. The tiles and stalls are filthy. The photos below show streaks on the walls. I ran my finger over one and it smeared. It's not stained. It's FILTH. Is this where the staff go? Do they stand in puddles and touch the walls before they deliver our food? Why is this acceptable? This location should be inspected for e coli wherever employees frequent. It needs a professional cleaning and a plan to change, or lock the doors because they stopped caring.

Soup! Sandwich and Slaw $13.99 Matzo Ball Soup: I am in heaven, transported to NYC , pure comfort food Jewish Slider: potato cakes, sliced tender beef and gravy. The challah is sweet, but I wish it was toasted. Mona's New Jersey Slider: Good, but I miss Pastrami from Katz Slaw: Light and flavorful

Chompie's is always a good experience. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and its location is great because you can walk off your food in the mall once you're done eating. My go-to entrees are the Jewish Sliders and the Breakfast Sliders. My partner usually goes for one of the sandwiches - which are massive by the way. I've never ordered something off their menu which I didn't enjoy. They have a lot of unique offerings which you won't find on most restaurant menus. I do wish they had some more appetizer options however. The front of the restaurant has a pastry counter with lots of tasty treats - you'll be hesitant to say no to dessert here!

Outstanding food and eating-in experience…read more Their KRISPY KRUNCHY FRIED CHICKEN is FAR better, MUCH more highly superior, to any of the other fried chicken chain outlets we've tried before. Cooked just right. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Excellent, fresh flavor! As it is prepared to order, expect about a 15 minute wait time for the chicken... but WELL worth that wait, as it turned out. Fries and Onion Rings sides were PERFECT, and tastier than most. Interesting, varied menu, too! Very generous portions... and the chicken pieces were real, actual sized pieces of chicken... not like the canary-sized tidbits served up by today's fried chicken chain outlets! Although the seating area was VERY small (store front operation,) the facilities were bright, clean and well maintained. The staff was welcoming, patient and most helpful as we worked our way through their surprisingly large, and varied menu! Reasonably priced, too! Overall... a happy find... and now one of our go-to favorites! Just wish they had a LOT more locations closer (to us!) Surprise/Sun City areas would benefit from having closer access to Outta Bronx sandwich/hot dog/wings/Krispy Krunchy chicken locations! I think it would catch on in no-time... assuming today's quality, and value, remained the same, of course. I'm, generally, hard to please... but Outta Bronx/Krispy Krunchy chicken seems to hit it on all cylinders! VERY pleased. Mark us down as huge fans!

I have been wanting to try A Touch of European Café for years and I finally had the opportunity…read morerecently - though not soon enough. I now wish I had! On a recent outing, a day trek to visit the historic downtown Glendale I got my wish, so there we went. Not at all unhappy, the complete opposite! As a Foodie and connoisseur of world foods as a whole, especially wholesome, down-to-earth, Eastern European and family traditional, A Touch of European Café filled the bill. We went all out to try as much of their offerings with our first visit as possible - or that our bellies could tolerate. Meeting the lively Malgorzata and good-natured Waldemar Okula (Chef) the owners was a thrill - a pair of the most down to earth and friendly folks I've met in restaurant eating in a long, long time, as well as he the uttermost fantastic cook. We definitely splurged on old world cuisine there. These folks bring to the Valley of the Sun the magnificence of Eastern European, more specifically Polish, Czech and some Russian homey, familial and delicious old country comfort foods. My heritage of Euro decent has long given me an affinity and love for all these foods and the Okula's have made it possible to have the real thing. I started with my all-time fave Borscht. A tradition beet soup with exquisite chicken broth with plenty carrot, celery and potato, in with hearty tomato with an apropos offering of just the right herbs and spices - fantastic! My Wife went for the overall eats which was equally magnificent. For the unfamiliar, or to anyone who desires tasting more than one particular dish, I highly recommend they're sample platter which gives you great tastes to be had including Pierogis, zelná rolka (cabbage roll), a wonderfully hearty and delectable lovecký guláš (Hunter's Stew), and a whole-heartedly hefty Polská klobása (Polish Sausage). All of which I must emphasize were magnificently prepared, homey aromatic and luxuriously flavored. Not to mention filling. While we were at it, we also enjoyed the best Pork Schnitzel we both ever had the pleasure of tasting... anywhere! Tender and juicy meat, while coated with a perfectly tasty and delicate breading. We also enjoyed their incredible cabbage rolls stuffed with finely ground and perfectly seasoned pork and white rice - Wow! I might also mention, every year each summer, they offer Foodie and Cultural tours to their homeland of the Czech Repulic and Poland, sometimes the surrounds. Hotel, food and tours included - we put it on our bucket list! This is a restaurant which has wall-to-wall history, vibe and heritage, owned and operated by a loving and vibrant couple from the old country who not only cook and serve the real thing, but they and their food open the door to another world. Needless to say on our return we're heading for the Guláš (Czech Goulash), more Borscht and their Pierogies. Meanwhile, we'll enjoy both the leftovers and extra meals we took home with us! As you may have noticed, for me this was an exciting review to put together because Mr. and Mrs. Okula gave us a piece of their heritage, a taste of their magnificent food, their love, and A Touch of European!
