I have been a loyal since they were on Greenway. I have never had a bad meal till 6/7/26 at 3:45 PM, I ordered Corn Beef Hash, it arrived at my table and it was black. I have never seen Corn Beef Hash like that before. The Hash Browns were burned too. I talked to the waitress Kennedi, she said it was burned, why would they serve hash that was black??? The color is supposed to be pink. I miss Lovey, she would always talk to me, she would recognize me, she would not have allowed this food to be served. Service was great, food not so much. I got the Eggs Benedict with Lox. It was so humongous it was hard to eat. The bread was barely toasted. There was a full sliced onion on each piece and tomatoes were a little too thick. The eggs were cooked decent but small. Sauce was ok. I ended up eating the eggs and lox only, and hash browns. I have grown up in the Valley all my life and have been eating at Chompies for as long as I can remember. Sadly, this last time may just be our last. My husband and I waited to be sat in a practically empty restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes before receiving waters or acknowledged period. When we finally placed our order he waitress seemed annoyed with us! Just being there... We ordered 2 pastrami sandwiches and 2 sodas. That plus the tip was $71!!!! This is a picture of the $16.99 crunchy munchy chicken wrap my upgraded side was a $1.49 cup of soup. Boy have time changed I put the pepper shaker behind the wrap to show the proportion. Each half of the wrap is approximately 2"tall. With 3 small pieces of chicken. Nevertheless was extremely unhappy with the wrap. The Mushroom Barley soup and service was great! It's not easy to get Barrio Bread out our way, so I was very excited that they and Chompie's teamed up on a few varieties of bagels. I tried the Focaccia style and it was loaded with rosemary and smelled so good upon opening the bag. Toasting them really brought out the flavor. I don't believe they are a boiled bagel so if you are looking for that true NY shiny outside style, these are not them, but the dough itself is unique, so read about it on Barrio's site. They are c. $2+ each and sold in a 1/2 dozen bag, so yeah, they are pricey, but they are a really tasty treat and you are helping two great local companies and more. In 1997, our family pulled into Scottsdale and began a new life. We settled into the 92nd and Shea area and started to explore the neighborhood. We found Chompies and it became a weekly treat. The food was amazing! The pickles on the table could only whet the appetite. It stood apart from other restaurants. Fast forward a quarter century. We are now grandparents and our closest Chompies is at Arrowhead Mall. We have introduced it to many friends. Alas, I have decided to no longer go to the restaurant. My husband will have to get his Monte Cristo elsewhere. Why? The management of the Arrowhead location has boldly and consistently failed to make their restrooms clean. I have stood in puddles of questionable fluid to relieve myself. I have had dresses and skirts made wet. It is disgusting and shameful. The tiles and stalls are filthy. The photos below show streaks on the walls. I ran my finger over one and it smeared. It's not stained. It's FILTH. Is this where the staff go? Do they stand in puddles and touch the walls before they deliver our food? Why is this acceptable? This location should be inspected for e coli wherever employees frequent. It needs a professional cleaning and a plan to change, or lock the doors because they stopped caring. read more

I have recently been coming to this location to get the bran muffins. They are so decadent and just the right amount of sweetness for you. Love their egg salad and the coffee from here too. We frequent this location quite often. And every other experience has been so good. Unfortunately, this morning was not as pleasant. After we were seated, our server (Eric) came over several minutes later after saying he would "be back" and then checked on five other tables before taking our order. That was the last time we saw Eric until the very END of our dining experience and it was only after I went up to ask another server about getting our check. I know that he wasn't busy enough to check on our table because the entire dining experience Eric went to every other table at least twice more after their food had been delivered and making jokes and laughing. This is where I go for the BEST pastrami, let alone the Chicken Matzo ball soup. Both are perfectly done and very consistently good. They are in the mall, and I tend to think if they had a little different location they would do so much better, but they have been there forever so I guess they must be doing OK. Chompie's is always a good experience. The staff are friendly, the food is tasty, and its location is great because you can walk off your food in the mall once you're done eating. My go-to entrees are the Jewish Sliders and the Breakfast Sliders. My partner usually goes for one of the sandwiches - which are massive by the way. I've never ordered something off their menu which I didn't enjoy. They have a lot of unique offerings which you won't find on most restaurant menus. I do wish they had some more appetizer options however. The front of the restaurant has a pastry counter with lots of tasty treats - you'll be hesitant to say no to dessert here! read more

Meh. I have to say the location at Shea in Scottsdale is far superior. I happen to be on the west side and getting bagels for my family. I ordered three onion bagels, toasted with the following toppings - lox spread, capers, cucumber, onion, and tomato, Well it was missing the capers for start which I was charged for. The onion bagel was tasteless. And also very overcooked. The entire wall of bagels in the basket looked overcooked. Service was OK. I'm not sure she understood my second request when I wanted a half pound of nova lox. She couldn't find it on the register, so I opted not to get it. Now I like a bagel with inappropriate amount of cream cheese however the amount of cream cheese was excessive. Overall, the bagel was just average. I know there was a lot of toppings on it and it was quite messy. The bagel itself was huge. The last time I had this at the other location it was probably one of my favorite bagels. This one was a little bit disappointing. This is at the arrowhead mall. There's parking out. Front can be a little difficult for handicap. I would have assumed the Borenstein family could spare a few dollars to fix the disgusting restrooms in this location. We have enjoyed the food at various Chompie's locations for decades, and the food at this location, for the most part, is good, and most of the servers are excellent. But using the restrooms makes us wonder if the staff even uses them to wash their hands. Other than being dingy and needing cleaning and paint, the biggest turnoff is the faucets squirt water all over and don't provide enough water to wash your hands. I wonder how often management checks them or some Chompie's executive does an inspection of the various locations. Maybe they just care about the sales at each location. read more

Whenever we are in the area, at least once a year- we make it a point to stop at one of the Chompie's locations. This one is in Glendale at the Arrowhead Towne Center Mall. It has an entrance right inside the mall's entrance. We always get the Chicken with Matzo Ball Soup. It's so delicious with its savory broth, veggies, and matzo. We shared a Knish and that was great as well. My BF got the Pastrami Sandwich which is piled high with meat and his favorite. I tried the Beef Brisket which was also good, especially the side of au jus. Our server was great, she was friendly and checked on us often. We went to their bakery and got some Black & White Cookies as well as some Italian Cookies to bring back with us. We had another great meal here. read more

Located in Arrowhead Mall, with a bowling alley-arcade nearby, it's a perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a flavorful meal with family or friends. I particularly love their variety of side options. A typical omelet comes with fruit or potatoes, along with your choice of toast, an English muffin, or the famous Chompie's bagel with your choice of cream cheese. As for the bakery, we visited on a Sunday when purchases with a meal were discounted by 25%. A Western omelette with home fries and a English muffin. A Broadway Brisket sandwich with Hot brisket, sliced bacon, two fried eggs, cheddar cheese, potato pancake, onion strings, and BBQ sauce on an everything bagel . Everyone enjoyed the meal. One little thing about my omelette. Could have had a little more turkey . I only tasted one piece of turkey. Our waitress was very friendly and took care of us very well.
