I heard about the Chocolate Expo through News12. It was a spontaneous decision to go on my part. There was no planning involved whatsoever. I literally saw that it was happening on the news, purchased the ticket through EventBrite, and drove to Secaucus. That's how much I freaking love chocolate!!! My GPS got me exactly where I needed to be. The signs (or lack of signs I should say) sucked. I drove around for awhile to find where I could park before I realized there are plenty of spaces, and the garage is attached to the Expo Center! The event itself was very nice. There were plenty of vendors to choose from. I went to every booth and picked up samples where I could. Then I did a second round, where I was more selective with the products I wanted to buy. Had I not done this, I would have spent at least a hundred bucks! The great part about the expo is that there were non-chocolate booths sprinkled throughout. I could see how this place could give you chocolate over load syndrome (even for chocoholics like me!) if there was solely chocolate and nothing else. Other products you can purchase include donuts, macarons, spices, oils, lotions, cheeses, etc. I've heard that if you go during the last two hours of the expo, vendors start slashing prices. I probably should have gone later, but I didn't want to drive in the dark. That's my own problem. To give you an idea of what I spent here: Ticket - $16.82 Goodies - $37.00 Samples - loads of them! Parking - Free Tolls and gas - $7.00 Total: $60.82 Time spent: 1.5 hours

Could this event be organized better? Absolutely. We arrived early, hoping to skip the lines to enter, however they were already huge by my arrival. At 11am they line started to move, but after a few minutes I heard the man at the entrance yelling that the line is only for people who pre paid for tickets and waiting to pick them up. If you need tickets just go up and buy them, there was like 5 people online to buy tickets. After I bought tickets I went right in, skipping everyone who was waiting to get their pre paid tickets which in sense were supposed to make it quicker but in reality resulted in unnecessary wait time. Anyway moving on to the actual event. Once inside the area was filled with chocolate vendors and all of them were very generous giving out samples of their products. The wait times and crowds were massive, but due to the large variety of vendors no one really waited for more then a few minutes to sample a product and to make a purchase. They all kept everyone moving. I loved the chocolate fondue, you could also mix the fruits and the marshmallows if you wanted to just had to ask them. The truffles were great there too, as well as the pickle and olive vendor. Also, toward the back the Gelato station with so many flavors was excellent. Entrance fee was a bit steep, but for the amount of samples and experience it was worth it. I stayed only a few hours, but it was enough to sample and purchase everything that I needed too. Also, parking is free which is a huge plus as that alone can run up to $20 for such events. I'll be back next year hopefully they would get more organized.

This event was a major disappointment and a wast of money. $20 entry fee to get hit with outrageously over priced food and products.

I've never eaten anything that I didn't like. My faves are: milhojas, breakfast croissant sandwich, and any and every cake with dulce de leche filling. I only tiny, minuscule complaint I have about this place is the lack of signage for the pastries and cakes. It would be nice to know what I'm looking at without having the ask. Absolutely zero gatekeeping here. Please everyone keep patronizing this establishment. I need this place to continue to exist in my hood.

So get anything fresh, like made to order cakes or things you see come out right when you're there. Otherwise you run the risk of getting old stuff, which sucks that they don't manage that at all. On a Sunday afternoon lines moved quickly and we were able to find seats. This is a cute cafe that offers plenty of savory items and lunches, plus drinks like matcha, cakes, pastries and cookies. There is also a bathroom! The women behind the counter were all nice and patient with my questions, they also kept the line moving and were quick. I had high hopes for the Alfajores as this is an Argentinian bakery but unfortunately the ones given to me were stale. The cookie was very hard. Also the Dulce de leche was too sweet and burnt tasting to me. I also got a chocolate covered one and the cookie in that was also hard and dry. The strawberry croissant was amazing. Never had anything like that before. Not too sweet and very flaky. It has a ribbon of red on the outside which gives it a unique look. I would love to come back and try savory items. I'll continue to stick with the cakes and croissants for desert and make sure it's fresh!

I tried the pistachio and rose flavor, and the sponge-like, moist texture was so good. It would have been perfect and super absorbent with a cup of tea. These are definitely specialty donuts that feel handmade and would be great for events like a birthday or a wedding, something with real significance. The service was excellent. The owner of the donut stand, when I saw her at Holi Seaport (downtown Manhattan), was very nice and humble. Even though she was working a packed station, she still took the time to serve me personally. She sold out all her donuts, which tells you just how amazing they are. The ambience depended on the event, since it was just a stand -- I didn't go to her actual shop in Weehawkens. Given that she does a lot of events between New York and New Jersey, the vibe will vary depending on which one you attend.

We got both vegan options they had that day (tiramisu kulfi cardamom and spiced chai latte), and they looked great for our snack. We didn't see the prices before ordering (not my usual MO, but it was busy and they brought over the unit to tap our phone), and when we saw the charge later, we were floored. Smorgasburg pricing is always kind of ridiculous, but this was so high that we thought something went wrong with the order. Over $30 for TWO donuts after taxes and fees? I'm all for supporting small businesses, but for two small donuts, that's kind of outrageous. For the price we paid, I'd expect the best donuts I've ever had in my life, and while these were fine, they were not that. Since the flavors are Indian-inspired, they're flavors that are not common at other donut shops, which is great, but the pricing is just completely off. Pretty donuts, but can't see spending this much again.
