What a candy lover's dream!! The aroma on entering is incredible - you can smell the chocolate being made in the back. There are walls and tables and cases full of chocolates of all shapes and fillings, and some store-made goodies like sour patch people too. Pre-packaged boxes, a counter where we can select our own chocolates to fill a box in whatever size we choose, a special Rhode Island themed corner (maps of RI, sea shells, sailboats, lollipops, etc), holiday selections, and cards to go with your gift. I grabbed a few Halloween peanut butter pumpkins that had been marked down this week. The store is amazing! Service was a bit slow (the person who waited on us was clearly proud of the product and happy to wait on us, but was just a bit slow moving at the register). The chocolate is very very tasty. My only complaint is that the peppermint patties had too much yummy dark chocolate for the filling - things didn't melt in my mouth at the same rate - lol. I didn't expect that the sour patch people to be as good as the name brand version but I thought they were actually better, and that says a LOT since those things are a major food group in my house! And, oops, no pictures from this visit because I was too busy running around collecting things I needed to buy and try! I WILL return, and soon. read more

Just driving around and saw the sign "Chocolate" it beckoned me. It was on the other side of the rotary by time I decided to go...Yep, made a U-turn! The Chocolate Delicacy looks tiny from outside and there isn't much for parking either. Inside it is surprisingly bright, airy and OMG the smell of chocolate. I think I wandered around looking at everything for half hour before I even thought of what I wanted. Staff is courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I had a LOT of questions. They have various bags and boxes of chocolate ready to purchase. After thoroughly perusing everything, I decided on turtles. I wanted both the cashew and traditional pecan turtles so had to go to the case of chocolates. Big mistake, NOT...I picked out my perfect turtles and added in chocolate covered rasberry jelly. I'm from MA and typically buy Gowells candy in Brockton or Philips Candy House in Dorchester. I made the mistake of selecting mixed rather than milk chocolate. It was a gift for my husband and he doesn't like dark chocolate but I do so won't be wasted. The chocolates are good and reasonably priced but not as good as Gowells or Philips. Easy to order online and pickup . Email said I would receive email when my order was ready but I didn't (maybe because it was Christmas time and very busy) so I called and they said I could pick up next AM. The parking lot is awful. If you park in front, you risk your life backing out to leave. It's right by the round a bout. I didn't go inside because I don't think they were allowing people to. I asked about nut free selections but they only had pops because of the pandemic and their supplier. Overall decent candy shop. read more

This past Labor Day marked my sixth wedding anniversary, and, according to tradition, gifts for a sixth wedding anniversary are candy and iron. I got the iron part covered riding my wife on my motorcycle (see my review of the Woodstock Fair), and Chocolate Delicacy covered the other part of my gift. On the Saturday before Labor Day, I drove through downtown East Greenwich because I had remembered a high-end candy and chocolate shop downtown from a few years ago, but it apparently is no longer there. So, I did what I should have done from the gate - used the Yelp app on my phone to find a good chocolate shop - and thus redirected, I went to Chocolate Delicacy, which, fortunately, wasn't too far away. Located right on the outskirts of Apponaug, near the new traffic rotary at the junction of routes 117 and 115 (Centerville and Tollgate roads, respectively), the business is very easy to find and reach. On the outside, it almost looks like a residential, ranch-style house, but once you walk through their doors, it's chocolate nirvana! Everything is nicely displayed and organized. You can either buy a pre-packaged box of chocolates, or pick your own selection of chocolates (I chose the latter option, since it's more personalized), and they will gift-wrap the box for you. Service was friendly, too. One of the items I chose was a pecan turtle, which was the first item my wife went for after she unwrapped the box, and it was excellent, she said. Although this was technically her gift, of course, I sampled a couple pieces, and agreed, the freshness and taste were both excellent. They are most definitely worthy of a 5-star rating! read more

Terrible stale turtles on Valentines Day and awful customer service. I was the only customer in the store at the time. There were several workers busy, but chatting amongst themselves for a good long period of time before they recognized me and asked if they could help. i was not offered gift wrapping (Valentines Day) and when I asked for it, she grudgingly wrapped the box and left off the ribbon. I ordered chocolates for my friend's birthday. I love that they let you pick a box that is mixed or all milk or all dark. That's great! And then I had thought the shipping was maybe a tad expensive when it came up but what they don't tell you (and FYI they totally should promote this) is they're using 2-day shipping. See if I knew that then I'd know the shipping price was totally reasonable. Anyway the package arrived across the country in 2 days and my friend loved loved loved the chocolates. I will definitely be purchasing from the Chocolate Delicacy again!! They also do curbside which is what I'll try next. I'll update my review after that. read more

Beautiful store full of delicious chocolates and candy treats, but horrible customer service. Stopped in to pick up some Valentine's Day treats for my husband and kids and was not even acknowledged with a simple greeting by the 4 associates, one of which was the owner. They in fact walked by me several times and there was no hello or how can I help you. Instead the owner and one of her associates whispered in a corner which is very unprofessional. I almost walked out without purchasing anything, but I went to the register and waited there for another 2 minutes before any acknowledgement. Other workers saw I was standing at the register, but failed to let the person who had register duties know. Then finally when an associate came over, she asked if I was all set, to which I said yes, because I thought that meant, yes I am all set to get rung out, but instead she took that as I am all set and helped the person behind me. I am just flabbergasted by everything that occurred there in a matter of minutes. Chocolates and other candy selections are great. HOWEVER, front staff is extremely rude. The female owner and other older blonde front end female have zero patience and horrific customer service skills. They have on multiple occasions seemed put out when help is needed of them. I don't understand how anyone could give this any less than five stars. We went in just to try it one day, and I honestly couldn't have enough. There were so many selections that sounded amazing! This place is definitely expensive, but so worth it. We recently got a pound of chocolate covered strawberries that would have came out to be $21. It was the end of the day, it was getting dark, and a man (didn't catch his name) came out of the kitchen and told Kyle, the adorable and kind boy waiting on us, do give us $10 off. I don't think I've ever gone anywhere like that where I was given a discount because "it was the end of the day" or anything along those lines. Their products are adorable, unique, and absolutely delicious. It may be the best chocolate I've ever had in my life, and I'm not exaggerating. Ordered 50 Chocolate covered Oreos for my daughter's baby shower. They came with a "baby" symbol on them (diaper pin, block, etc). When ordering, I requested no baby symbols that were only in blue or pink....since we don't know the gender of the baby. From our conversation (salesperson, owner and myself), my understanding was this could be done for me. Unfortunately, I didn't check the order before I left the store. When putting them out at the shower the next day, I found out my requested was not honored. Called the store and spoke to the owner. I thought I would relay my disappointment...I wasn't looking for any compensation. Well, I was told it was "a miscommunication" and I received what was discussed. The owner was not very nice...actually found her to be rude. I usually like to support local businesses, but this is one business I've crossed off my list.
