For a movie screening of My Neighbor Totoro I coordinated for my friends, I wanted to give my friends a customized chocolate bar with Totoro as a party favor. Immediately I knew I wanted to ask Chef Aura if it was possible and if she was available to make them for me. She always responds promptly and told me she can do it! She sent me pictures of the progress and I couldn't wait to see the final product. When the bars were ready, she sent me pictures and it looked so good. How have I never been here before?! Rhode Islander, chocolate lover, local /family owned business supporter.. I am BLOWN AWAY! I walked in and YUM!!! The warm aroma of chocolate and magic swirled around me.. I was in heaven!!!! Such a cute and cozy shop. Well organized, everything is labeled and displayed very nicely. They have many options / flavors , something for everyone, vegan options as well.. the designs are so precise and unique , I felt bad eating it and destroying this artwork!!! (not that bad though because it was delicious LOL) I will definitely be back again - for gift cards, gifts, (for others and myself) and also looking forward to booking an event/class here ! We came in and got a bar and some little chocolate squares that were by the checkout. While her chocolates are more on the expensive side, you can taste the quality and the difference. The chocolate is so rich and flavorful and really taste like it's made by hand. Yum! Thank you again! read more

We often stop at independent chocolate and/or candy shops during our travels and to have one in our own 'back yard', we had to stop in and give it a try. Located on a side street in a small strip mall, the older building outside does not at all reflect the new, curated inside. The business shares a small parking lot with the other businesses in the strip mall. There is one small step up onto the sidewalk where you access the shop and I do not remember seeing any dedicated handicapped spots in the lot. However, if you park to the left, you can get up onto the sidewalk w/o the step from the grassy area nearby if I remember correctly. Once inside, it doesn't look like a store at all. Lots of open space and a couple of wooden shelves and cloth covered displays. We were greeted by Aura's mom who immediately greeted us and walked over to tell us about the available inventory. After a thorough going over of the variety of products, she took us to one side where they have samples available and a classroom area. This chocolate sells itself! You most definitely want to try the samples. The dark chocolate is the smoothest we have encountered. I'm not a big fan of white chocolate and this one did not change my mind but the texture is much more creamy, smooth and flavorful than any white chocolate I have previously had and can only imagine if you are a white chocolate fan, you will definitely want to try this one. We ended up buying soooo many different types of chocolate. They had 11 small sized flavors, we got one each, plus a bar of another flavor not available in sample size, plus more! Yes, we are all set for chocolate for quite a while. They offer large chocolate 'sculptural' pieces that when cracked over, smaller chocolates fall out. Like a piñata I suppose. Hearts and Turkeys for the upcoming holiday were available during our visit. A variety of flavors and shapes like their ocean collection of shells and starfish and the chocolate roses each with a different flavor were also available. These would both make wonderful additions to gift baskets. They offer classes and you can reserve the classroom area for birthday parties, showers or just a private event to make chocolate with your girlfriends! I've been a fan of Aura's chocolate since she first started popping up at Hope and Main, but it was lovely to get to see the brick and mortar shop! Aura is the sweetest chocolatier, and I hope she gets to visit Belgium someday (better than France, imo) and learn among the greats. The chocolate she uses is sourced from her home country of Venezuela, and you can taste the difference! I love her flavors, from the traditional dark chocolates to chocolate raspberry and more creative, like coffee milk. The biggest problem you'll have is deciding what to buy! Had another great Yelp Elite experience and an equally AMAZING host for the Truffle Rolling instructional class at Aura's Chocolate Bar. The shop is so clean and well setup. Imagine walking into a perfectly curated museum of handmade chocolate all set inside glass and mirrored display stands. But....it's a museum of delicious morsels you can purchase and take home to enjoy at a later date OOORRRRR (hear me out), buy some chocolate FOR your shopping experience and nibble as you peruse the merchandise. Strike up a conversation with the "Chocolate Queen of Cranston" (I made that nickname up just now). Aura is Johnson & Wales University graduate and brings authentic Venezuelan twist on some of the best chocolates you'll ever taste. She's a vault of knowledge and very helpful when choosing which flavors to grab. I recommend the "Coffee Milk" or the "White Chocolate Lemon Sea Salt". "Choc" this one up as a WIN!!! read more

There's a new chocolatier in town! Her name is Aura. She uses a unique blend of Venezuelan cocoa with local ingredients to create delicious works of art. Aura's Chocolate Bar is a small but delicious smelling store in Cranston. I had never been in so I bought a variety of beautifully crafted candies. Including chocolate roses in various flavors including coffee (delicious) and raspberry as well as peanut butter cups. I was shown around and given the history by the owners mom who just happens to be named Aura as well. The chocolate is magical. She uses a small part of the store to showcase other artisans creations too. Stop in soon, who doesn't need a delicious chocolate treat! read more

I am basing this review on one absolutely perfect chocolate bar that I purchased from them. I have not been able to get to the location although I have been anxious to do so. I know that I will before the holidays. They are very flexible about their hours and if you call they will actually open for you so that you can look around and shop. That is pretty nice of them. A hidden gem with a welcoming atmosphere. The clerk welcomed us into the store and took the time to explain every chocolate choice available. We purchased many pieces ranging from delicious chocolate with champagne and a dessert wine to lime & salt to rose pedals to crushed coffee bean on the bottom of the chocolate bar. Delicious. A burst of sweetness! I was so impressed by the blend of flavors all combined. It was edible art!Unique, fresh, tasty! I tried the white chocolate, lemon lavender bar. I really wasn't sure if I would like it... but dear Lord, it was delicious! Light and bursting with flavor that wasn't overwhelming. I also purchased a coffee milk bar. Of course unique to Rhode Island's autocrat coffee milk. It was light and delicious. I purchased a dark chocolate, dark sea salt bar for my husband who adores dark chocolate. So many interesting flavors and all different shapes and sizes. They also sell a lot of local foods as well. Unlike most other artisan chocolate shops, this was much more reasonably priced and even had free samples! The mom who runs the front was soooo nice and inviting! read more
