They have lovely cakes, but I only use this bakery as a "back up" if the Macaroon Shop in Avon is closed. The cakes are lovely and decorated beautifully. The staff are "polite", but not overly friendly. Certain things are extremly expensive as extras, so you may want to ask what your cake includes first. I saw the Waterview Pavillion uses the Chocolate Carousel as their baker now. When we were married, it was the Macaroon Shop. Not sure why they changed venues, but like I said, overall, they are not a bad bakery. Everyone is still raving (200+ guests) about my wedding cake. We selected a 4-tier yellow cake with pineapple and vanilla mousse filling with whipped cream icing for our big day, and it was amazing. MOIST (you NEVER get that with wedding cake, as most bakeries make them days in advance. Yuck!) and just delicious. Just the right type of light, airy cake we all craved after a gluttonous big wedding dinner! This place is great, in that they believe you shouldn't eat "stale frozen cake" on your one-year anniversary. They can re-create the top tier of your cake for your first anniversary celebration. All I can say is WOW! We were married on 09.01.2018 and order a cake through Chocolate Carousel per our venues request. Normal wedding cakes are really just for looks and the actual cake is not good but not the case here. We went to the tasting in July and even then everything tasted wonderful we were so pleased. Then our big day was here and after our ceremony I happen to walk into the reception and the cake was the 1st thing I saw. Even my husband said WOW! Then it was time to eat it and I could believe how moist and fresh it was. Our guests are still talking about it to this day. If you are on the fence with what to do I would say go with Chocolate Carousel you will get what you are looking for and more. I wish i could leave a picture of my cake on here to show you all. I ordered my son a cake for a college graduation celebration. I went in to the store and explained that I wanted a 'wow' factor. Something that really stood out. I told them I would send them the college logo and they could be creative with it. I sent my husband to pick it up thinking it would be no problem and would look good. They literally printed out the logo and put it on the cake. It was the most underwhelming thing I have ever seen. I gave them a couple of weeks notice, went in to the store so there would be no misunderstandings and this is what I got! I could have got the same thing at Wegman's for a lot cheaper. And everyone that ate a piece thought Wegman's cake actually tastes better. When I called to complain about the design, the owner told me to bring the cake back and she would have it fixed in 15 minutes. Not sure how a 15 minute design would have looked, but regardless we had the full day planned and did not have the time to go back to the store. The cake was a lost cause. Worst cake ever. I am writing this review more based on the attitude of the workers/owner. The cake for our wedding was included from here so we had to go with them, otherwise I would have walked out the day of our tasting. First we did not know the tasting would have been set up like a "speed dating service" where couples just grabbing one of the four tables to meet with the next available worker. I was expecting a one on one type appointment. So, we stood there for a few minutes before we were even acknowledged and then was told we had to wait for the next table to open up. When one finally did, we sat down waiting for someone to come over. I helped myself to a wedding cake book that was on some shelf and started looking through it. Once someone came over she gave is a sheet with different flavors of fillings, cakes and icings to taste. We picked out a few & received a tiny plate of what we wanted to try. Once the worker sat with us we told her what we liked best and what shape of the cake we wanted. We wanted basic and simple with only purple ribbon around each tier. She then writes up the BILL and says OK that will be $20 for the ribbon. It was not the money that was my problem, it was the fact that we were not told that certain things were going to be an extra cost. Some cakes are very decorative & extremely fancy, what if we had picked out a way more fancy cake without knowing it was going to be an "upgrade"? I think there should have been some communications about what was included before we actually started looking through any cakes. However, this wasn't even my biggest issue with this bakery. On our way out of the store, the owner was kind of blocking the front door while helping another couple. I said excuse me, she literally had to move in order for us to get out of the door. She did not say a word. Not a "thank you",not a "have a good night" nothing. As someone who works in a family run restaurant I know being polite is important. Because you want your customers to come back again and again. Then I remember seeing photos on the wall of the owner with some famous cooks & bakers. I guess she is already well known and doesn't feel like she needs "small time customers" This type of attitude extremely bothers me and that's why I do not recommend the Chocolate Carousel. read more

I'm not sure what people are eating here. I was planning to get a baby shower cake here, so I went today to get some cupcakes and try it out. The service was, at best, not good. The woman who helped me needed me to point out every single item in the case as she had no idea what or where each product was. Then she walked away to help another customer before she rung me up, without saying anything. Someone else started to help me, but she rung me up wrong. It took four people to figure out how to remove an item from the register so she could continue. Once I got home, the cupcakes had rolled all over the box, as it was too big for 6 cupcakes. They looked decent, a little smashed but not terrible. The taste, however, was sub par. The frosting was so thick and sweet, I could have been eating a cake from a grocery store. The cake was dry and crumbly. Very disappointing, especially for $20. I will certainly be getting my baby shower cake elsewhere. read more

Absolutely disappointed in our experience. We used chocolate carousel for our wedding as it was the vendor of choice that came with our venue and included. We opted to add many additions to our cake and stressed how important this was for us as I previously have had a cake business. I layed out details sent pictures and paid extra. I was assured that it would be as I described, it was not. I called the vendor following the wedding and like others received attitude and was questioned harshly. Bottom line it is not what I asked for. The cake was fine, but the additions were a waste of money as they did not come to fruition and costumer service in the end was horrendous. We can't recommend Chocolate Carousel enough for wedding cakes!! We (and ALL of our guests) loved our wedding cake and many commented that it was the best wedding cake that they'd ever tasted.. some guests even tried to take others' slices! They made the whole planning and tasting process super easy and were very flexible on our availability, given that we were planning our wedding from out of state. The discussion that we had in planning the design was not stressful at all and it came out even more beautiful than we could have imagined! I only write a review to rave about my favorite spots, but I'll make an exception for the Chocolate Carousel. I am truly disappointed with their execution and customer service. Our wedding cake design was not what we ordered. Our anniversary cake (which we paid $25 for) did have the correct design but wrong ingredients. When the issue was raised we did not receive a call back and after finally speaking with someone we were told that we were incorrect. What?! We only used this bakery because it was affiliated with the venue, I strongly suggest avoiding using their services. Plenty of other good bakeries in the area. read more

This review is for our wedding cake tasting experience. The actual wedding cake review to follow in March. We looked at CC after seeing all the great yelp reviews, as well as the recommendations on wedding wire and the knot.com. My fiancee was also told by a friend that they have the best butter cream she ever had. We were more or less convinced this was the place and we were ready for a tasting. We booked well in advance and were advised the estimated price per slice and that we would be charged a tasting fee if we decided not to book them. Well, it was worth the risk knowing what we already knew about them. We were immediately greeted upon entry and told them we were there for a tasting. We were given complimentary coffee and water and were seated in the common area to await our tasting. Before we get to the tasting, we were pet much settled on birch tree cake because of our theme, so all we needed to choose was the cake type and filling. It was a done deal with the cake. It was brought to us warm and so, so delicious. We were kind of stuck between the raspberry moose and the raspberry filling. We choose the raspberry filling, kind of a fresh preserve to compliment the chocolate and yellow cake. After we left, we were kind of sad that we have to wait over 60 days to eat it. The great part of the wedding cake is that you don't have to freeze it for your anniversary, they will make a mini cake for you. Totally recommended! read more

Terrible experience. The colors used were off. Doesn't have the courtesy to email or call back a very unhappy customer. Would've looked better if I made it. I came upon this treasure of a bakery by chance, our wedding cake was included in the package at the Waterview Pavilion, (also 5 stars!) From the minute we met I felt like my cake was going to be my dream cake, I had a pic from a magazine like many brides I'm sure. Five layers, a different flavor in ever layer. She made sure it was amazing. We tasted and tasted, and my husband made sure he tasted more. Well since then Chocolate Carousel is THE ONLY bakery we use. We entertain quite a bit. Safe to say I do not bake. I trust them with gifts for colleagues, friends and family. I order all cakes for birthdays and family celebrations from here. Lisa and John are part of our family now. We were delightfully directed by our wedding coordinator to contact Chocolate Carousel for our wedding cake last year. We were pleasantly treated to various samples all of which were outstanding. We were given very courteous service during the taste test, and there were very ample samples and designs to choose from. During our wedding, I can not state enough how many compliments my wife and I received on the wedding cake specifically; on both it's appearance and of course, the taste! It is now our 1st year anniversary, and we are going back today to pick up our "Anniversary Cake" which is a replica of the original one we had during our wedding day... to be shared with our family and friends one year later! And, it was made fresh, instead of the old-style way of freezing your wedding cake and eating it a year later.
