I have been in the store for baking supplies a few times but shame on me for not trying their chocolate until 2021! I admittedly am not big on celebrating Valentine's Day, but my family bought a custom chocolate box from here this year and O M G. This is not your basic Russel Stover prepackaged candy. This is the real deal. Absolutely the best assorted box of chocolate I've ever tried (and yes, I tried a bite of each). 1. Their chocolate is amazing, both the milk and dark 2. Their fillings are unique and made with quality ingredients - think real fruit, fun creme flavors, etc 3. The box was beautifully packaged, although I wish it had a card listing on which flavor was which (but the element of surprise was pretty fun) My favorite were the raspberry creme, cherry creme, and one that had a fruit and nut mixture. Again, SO much better than any candy box you'd buy at a large retailer and very much worth every penny. A chocolate box from here is thoughtful and artfully crafted. Stopped in to the store today to pick up a Halloween lollipop for my granddaughter. The holiday candy is always so cute, fresh and delicious. Over the years I've bought character cake pans, icing, food coloring, there are many chocolate molds, cookie cutters and so much more! For a little store he stocks it well. Now I couldn't walk out without some chocolates now could I?? So I got a pound box, picked all the chocolates out and it was a hard choice. I really, REALLY love this place. It's like a candy lover/bakers dream! I was making cake pops for the first time and needed to pick up some additional chocolate melts, sprinkles and extracts/emulsions. They have a huge selection of cool sprinkles that come in different shapes and colors, sanding sugars, edible glitter, caked toppers, candles, molds, fondants, buttercreams, emulsions, extracts, chocolate melts, candy, and the list goes on. I've walked by this place several times, but never actually went in until last week. From the outside, this place looks like a chocolate lover's dream. I decide to give it a go since I was looking to get something for my wife's birthday. I decided on a box of truffles for $50 (not cheap!!). However, when I got home and my wife opened the box, she noticed that half of the chocolates were moldy. I went back the next day and demanded a refund, but the owner/manager claimed I probably purchased the item a few months ago and refused to give me a refund or replacement. He then started to yell racial slurs at me demanded that I "Get Out!" Absolutely appalling. This is unacceptable by both customer service standards and as well as human decency standards. Came in with a Celebrations coupon that I received in the mail for my birthday. It was for a 1/2 lb of gourmet chocolates. When I showed the worker the coupon, he abruptly said all he "had left" was a box of peppermint bark and that too many people came in with the coupon. Didn't make any sense since there was a counter full of different chocolates. They obviously weren't adhering to the promotion they sent out. The whole point of the promotion is to PROMOTE a business. This gave me ZERO glimpse into what this business offers and I have no reason to return. What a disappointment. read more

Where do I begin? I purchased a Groupon for the cookie decorating class a few months back. I called 3 days in advance to book a spot in the friday night class and was notified that there was one spot open so I should be ok. Then I proceeded to re-schedule because of a conflict. I called more than 24 hours in advance and was met with an unbelievably rude and unaccomodating response. The man on the phone was unnecessarily loud and insolent. He berated me and all other Groupon users because apparently many were canceling and re-scheduling. How was that my problem? Of course, it was not. If you are a merchant and do not wish to actually gain customers then proceed precisely as this man did. I spent over $100 in this store on roughly 13 lbs of colored chocolate, molds and sticks, well guess what only four pounds of that chocolate was useable! The chocolate was either expired or just some crap brand, mind you I melted all the chocolate the same way, in a double boiler on a low simmer, the owner, the bald gentleman is so disgustingly rude it's offensive, clearing he doesn't care about sales or returning customers, I will be going back to the store to get a refund for my money. I wandered in here after a school visit in Bay Ridge. It was my first time being so far down on fifth ave in Brooklyn. For the bakers out there- they have a fairly large selection (lots of WIlton products) in a small space. I saw tons of cake/cupcake molds, tons of multi-colored sanding sugar, fondant, cake toppers and much more. They also sell a variety of chocolate including sugar-free chocolates, which are usually hard to come by! Also, they have a small space in the back where they offer Wilton cake decorating classes throughout the year. They also have some ad-hoc cookie decorating classes as well. The owner was really friendly and helpful and the prices aren't any more expensive than the Cake Shop in Manhattan... I'll definitely stop back in the next time I'm in Bay Ridge. read more

They have every color sprinkle and food coloring dye under the sun, walls and walls of chocolate molds, cake decorations, fondant, cake trays in a variety of shapes, and candy. They have a few mixes and kits and sell their own candy and party supplies. Good stuff! Prices are what you expect from a local store- not the cheapest, but no price gouging either. OMG!! I used to come here with my mom growing up to pick up molds and chocolate. We used to make chocolate lollipops every holiday so this really brings back a nostalgic heartwarming feeling for me. Every year I give the kids in the family a play date on the second Saturday in January, in lieu of more toys and stuff at Christmas. This year we took them to Choc Oh Lot to decorate cookies. What a great time they had, boys and girls. Ages three through nine. They each got into their own zone, and let their creativity flow. There were sample cookies that they could copy, but mostly they did their own color combinations. Amy was there to help them through it, she is very patient and showed them what to do. And of course the kids were very proud of their creations, and looked forward to sharing with their family. Amy baked the gingerbread cookies, and brought the icing colors. Really a great setting for a kids gathering. And I understand you can book adult cookie decorating events too. This store is a neighborhood treasure, and I'm glad I'm the one that got to introduce the kids to it. read more

Everything is neatly organized, unlike Michael's where things are scattered all over the place. But yes, prices are not the cheapest but it's a small business shop so they can't compete with prices like Michaels or Amazon. I think I was more impressed with their vast and unique selection of sprinkles and embellishments, which you seldom find elsewhere. Needed last minute fondant and was so happy to find this place so close to home. This place has everything you need to make "professional" looking cakes and chocolate lollipops. Also, the owner (?) was so helpful. He told me what I needed to do to "assemble" my fondant covered tooth cake with filling (various fillings sold there too). The cake was a great success! It looked amazing, especially since this was my first time working with fondant, and was delicious! EVERYBODY was really impressed!
