Nice, clean restaurant. We had a group of five so it was best for us to make a reservation. They welcomed us right away and we were seated pretty quickly. It wasn't full in there so that helped too. Our server was great. He was patient and attentive. He checked on us throughout. The beef legume was my main dish and it was delicious. Very flavorful. My only concern was the amount of oil that pooled at the bottom of the legume bowl. The Fritay was good. The akra could be a bit crispier than what it was. I made a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate my sons birthday on the 4th of July. I received a confirmation email four hours beforehand reminding me. When we get there at the time of our reservation THE PLACE WAS CLOSED. I only made the reservation because their website said they'd be open. I don't normally do reviews on places that I've already been to, but I think this place definitely deserved it. I came here with a friend of mine and we decided to sit down and dine. First things first, when I made my review a few years ago, they definitely change some things around as far as the menu was concerned and certainly change the etiquette for what could be worn when entering the restaurant. So we sat down and we ordered some food, the bartender was definitely overbooked and busy with a lot of other tables so I only got one drink, unfortunately. But I must say that this was probably one of the best drinks I've ever had in my life, it tasted Devine and I wanted that taste to truly last forever. I wanted more but I guess I'll get more when I visit New York again. I decided to go classic and go with the jerk chicken with rice and that tasted like everything that I missed in life. It was truly delicious, the salmon bites the the same and so was my friends griot. This restaurant has certainly redeemed and outdone themselves, and I'm happy. I don't drink alcohol and wanted a mocktail, they didn't have any on the menu, I was told just order a drink and they'd leave the alcohol out, I did and was charged $15 still (the price of the cocktail) At first I was excited to see the place empty, but later on realized why. It's over priced, with mediocre customer service, no WiFi and just okay food. My cousin had the salmon and mashed potatoes I had the shrimp and lobster platter. With the coconut shrimp to share. My platter wasn't for the weak, extremely spicy (not noted on the menu) but flavorful, my cousins salmon looked great but unfortunately had a freezer burned flavor. Sitting here sitting ready for my bed. I am stuffed and happy. My cousin and I both ordered the glazed salmon with sea food fried rice. The portion size was enough for 2 ppl but thank the heavens I ordered my own and I have some left for lunch tomorrow. I am more than satisfied. I have no complaints with the taste. It was absolutely scrumptious. We both had 2 rum punches but unfortunately they didn't have wray and nephew but instead our bartender mixed in Haitian rum and boy was it hitting. This will be my second visit to Chloe's for dinner under the Haitian management team. The group that attended with me all have a special love for Chloe's food, but unfortunately NOT their drink. Once seated we all decided on the calamari and wing appetizers and it did not disappoint. We actally don't need the menu to make our decisions on their food. Some of us frequent more than others. Yes it did take some time to get the food, but it was well worth it. I had the seafood rice with the honey salmon. There are not enough adjectives to truly tell you how good it taste. The rice was not hard, but perfect. The salmon was not too sweet, but again perfect. You will taste the seasonings and the love the chef uses while cooking. It's almost like eating home cooked food. I could not finish it because the bowl was full to the brim and so was my stomach. I did not regret coming here for dinner or enjoying the music. My only regret was thinking because they had a new bartender things would change in the drinks. No such luck - still gross! The service, food and music is what keeps me coming back for more. Came here last Sunday with my mom and son around 1:15. They didn't have lambi which dampened my mood. After much deliberation I finally ordered the Tassot (fried goat) with black rice and my mom with rice and beans. Ny son ordered the chicken pasta before us but, somehow got his food when ours came out. Ths waitress was nice, and patient but, the kitchen was slow. even though it took us a while to order, the food took long and literally no customers were there. All in all the food was delicious. I had a 5 star experience here-despite previous reviewers' experience. Checked this place out on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm, which was pretty empty at the time and was seated right away. Appreciated the layout of the place. A pretty decent size bar across from the dining tables and an area presumably for a dance floor in the back where a DJ was currently spinning some good tunes (at the time old school R&b and later on newer music). Ordered the chicken and waffles and rum punch (I'm Haitian so I figured I will avoid any haitian dishes that day). However a friend of mine ordered the Tassot meal (fried goat), once I tasted it realized I made a mistake not ordering it. Tassot was fried perfectly, succulent, juicy and flavorful-Well seasoned, not greasy. It came with rice and beans-also amazing, pickliz (Haitian spiced cabbage) and fried green plantain. Portions were generous. Definitely a winning dish. Chicken and waffles were also divine. In lieu of hot sauce for the chicken, I recieved pickliz...which worked well. Waffles were soft, fluffy, came with strawberries and berries. Nothing extraordinary but still really good. Rum punch was outstanding. Pretty strong but flavorful, one of the better rum punches I've had. But the most impressive element of the dining experience was the service. Typically, we expect poor customer service at Caribbean restaurants, but my experience here was contrary...our waitress (dont remember her name) was extremely attentive, kept checking in on us, gave us updates on our meal time, and was genuinely nice. Chole's just started serving a Pre-Fixe Brunch for $15.99 with unlimited Sangria or Mimosas for $10 a glass. There is no excuse why it wasn't perfected. I ordered the Fish & Chips with a Caribbean Grilled Chicken Salad. I declined the dessert. The Fish was under seasoned. The breading was a nice, thin coat but had no flavor. The fries were crinkle cut which lacked seasoning as well. The Caribbean Salad was good minus the dried up grilled Chicken pieces that was in the salad. We were served White Wine Sangria that had to be sent back. It was dry & tasteless. The diced up fruit was no match for the tartiness. The waitress rectified the issue by serving Red Sangria instead. The Pre-Fixe Brunch needs major work. I put in a order for the Fried Chicken because it looked juicy. The Chicken had the right balance of spice but when I took a further look I realized it was undercooked. When in the restaurant industry food needs to be throughly cooked. First time trying this restaurant. Didn't feel like cooking after a long day's work. I decided to give this place a chance. The food was burnt and tasteless. I called the restaurant to give some feedback, and the person was short and abrupt. Only telling me to come for another meal. I was only looking for an expiation and an apology. I received neither. I do not plan on having another meal there as I have lost trust in them. My 1st trip to Chloe's was a very positive experience. They were throwing a private affair and the DJ was spinning great tunes. The back portion of the restaurant, lounge portion was used. The staff was very welcoming and accomodating. The food is deliciously seasoned and cooked to perfection. This place fuses haitian cuisine with all of the West Indies. This is a rare find ! The decor of the restaurant is very modern and chic. Very warm and inviting. A great venue to cater an event! I ordered the Griot (fried pork) and rasta pasta. Perfect combo of spice and texture. I recently returned for brunch and was not satisfied. They recently introduced the brunch menu featuring a $15.99 Pre Fix menu. I wish they featured more caribbean items. Saltfish was the only item. Brunch comes with 1 dessert item. Unlimited Sangria & Mimosa is $10 additionally. I ordered the Chicken and regular waffles. Chicken was seasoned amazingly but undercooked. Frying chicken is a talent. Especially the more meatier parts. Breasts must be cooked thoroughly. We returned the chicken to the manager and Chef Wayne recooked pieces and visited our table to ensure we were satisfied. We had a good time enjoying the live DJ, who was very skilled, despite the mishaps. As well as the private bungalow seating near the door. If you like terrible customer service, long waits for your food, and sub-par food at that, welcome. I recently ordered their shrimp Alfredo pasta for myself and salmon Rasta pasta for my sister. My meal was okay, but her salmon was BURNT, CHARRED, BLACK. I suppose there was a last minute change to the menu. Nonetheless, I believe in giving chances so here I am again sitting in the restaurant waiting for my to-go order that I placed at 10:27pm. An order of two seafood pastas, honey garlic salmon with mashed potatoes, and a credit card payment later and I am still sitting here waiting. I'm hangry and this is unacceptable. When I finally asked about my order (because no one has approached me with updates) the manager was rude, brushed me off, and couldn't even give me a quote time. She said that salmon takes long to cook, I guess she's never cooked fish before. Oh, and to put the cherry on top the bouncer tried to charge $20 a person to get inside the door forms to place an order. Luckily, someone came to their senses and realized that was ridiculous. I'd usually go there for their parties because they're always soooooooo good, but lately I've been going there for the food. I myself am Haitian so I'm very critical when it comes to Haitian food, but OMG you guys, CHLOE'S FOOD IS OFF THE CHAIN!!! Security guards had amazing personalities and did not have attitudes (unlike most establishments you visit and the security guards are mad for no reason) There was one waiter so the food and drinks took forever to come. We opted for the back. As we were trying to get situated, a woman began screaming from across the room that she needed to see our ID and vaccination card. Music Great Food Great The Event Didn't Make Sense: For a performance on EventBrite, they made people pay money for something that was opened to everyone. So they were people who paid and people who got a free performance for just showing up. Performances: Only 1 out of the 3 performances actually performed. Chloe's restaurant has disappointed me beyond belief. I called the restaurant around 6pm and explained that I had a party of 15 people that would be arriving at 9pm. They said, "no problem". We arrived at 9:10pm and were not seated until after 10pm. There was no issue and they were not waiting for any party to leave, they just took forever. Without complaint, we sat down when they told us our table was finally ready. Once seated, we reviewed the menu and were ready to order. No one approached us to take our orders. We had to flag down our waitress, Shaniqua or Shaquana. When she took our orders she explained that black rice is only served on Sundays. We did not complain and most people requested rice and beans. The waitress also explained that there was no Akra available. Still, we did not complain; we simply adjusted our request. After placing our orders, Shaniqua/Shaquana came back and said the fish is no longer $25 but now $35 because they only have the big fish left. We said okay to the $10 difference. Shaniqua/Shaquana approaches the table again and says, "there's only two fish left and it has to be fried. There's no more Gro Sel". We asked how come we can't have two fish, one fried and one Gro Sel to accommodate everyone. She explained that they are only making fried fish. She then stated that there is no more rice and peas; there is only white rice. The time is now 11pm. After waiting in a restaurant for two hours, we thought that it was absurd that we placed orders and now there were multiple restrictions on what we could and could not order. Where were these restrictions when we ordered? The only two things off limits were Akra and Black rice. It became apparent that the chef did not want to accommodate all of our orders and decided to shorter the menu to make things more convenient for him. We told Shaniqua/Shaquana that we wanted to speak to a manager. She went to the back area and came back and insanely stated that the manager was "too busy" to come and talk to concerned customers. We were blown away by this response. Collectively, we decided not to dine in at Chloe's lounge. I spoke with Shaniqua/Shaquana on the side about the reason why the manager would not come and speak with us. Disturbingly, she stated that they were understaffed and the manager was not in the right headspace to speak to anyone right now. I asked her if the manager was not in the right headspace then why would she be at working? More importantly, as a manager? I asked Shaniqua for her name and she said Jaynice but everyone calls her Jay. Isn't it implied in the duties of a manager to deal with concerned customers while dealing with the background issues that the customers can't see? Isn't this the primary question asked on interviews? "How can you handle situations under pressure?" When you try to support black businesses and more importantly, your own kind, it never goes right. The chef was lazy and simply wanted to give us what he felt like giving us. He, Shaniqua and JaY wanted to manipulate a crowd of 15 people. They provided us with a take it or leave it situation. So we left with the $700-$1000 they would have gotten from our orders. I wrote this yelp review because I know that the chef, shaniqua, nor Jay Will explain to the owners what took place and they must know. I do not look poorly on the owners; however, their staff is inadequate. They are unprofessional and "are not in the right headspace". I have never been to a restaurant where a manager could not make it to the table. The taste of the food is important, the Dj is important, but what's most important is the customer service. On top of that, when I asked for my refund, the cashier had an attitude, like she was more upset than I was. The customer service of the restaurant is out of control.
