We've been making a habit of going here every weekend recently, as we are having a great time when we go here. I've liked the coffees (we are mocha drinkers), the small town ambience of the place is nice, and the live music is pretty enjoyable. Plus they have mimosas on Sundays! We just kick back for a couple of hours with our computers and take a break. I love it when a coffee shop can give me a bagel with eggs, and not just cream cheese. Definitely not modern, but they do have free wifi and lots of electrical outlets, which count for a lot. read more

Getting better! I have come back quite a number of times since and the service seems to have improved since they hired friendlier staff. Also, tried their white chocolate mocha a few times and YUM! There is something to be said for the number of wall sockets to charge your computer as you work as well; very little sharing is needed. read more

eehhh, not so good at making coffee drinks. I advise you coming in before noon to get quality coffee, after that time it just taste burnt. Also the pastries are not too great. And the counter people are not that polite I must say, the View is gorgeous though! They just need to update the atmosphere or do something. I will add to support your local coffee shop. read more

Nice cafe with a relaxed vibe. Prices are high for a cafe but you do get a good amount of food. Sandwiches are big. I got a pastrami and cheese; barista forgot my chips though. But the chip stack includes Fritos, Cheetos, and plain Lays.... Not exactly a good selection. Refillable water cups available and the wifi power is strong. read more

The sandwiches aren't very special, and aren't worth the $6 they charge for them -- I got a cheese and avocado, and the avocado didn't taste ripe and the cheese tasted like a Kraft single. Also, the sandwich was really small... My friend compared it to Lee's Deli, where we could get the same exact sando for $2 tops. I just took my sandwich to go, but it seemed like a friendly enough place where locals like to hang out... Maybe I should have tried the coffee and made my own sandwich instead. read more

Today is my 4th time I come to chit chat cafe and by far I haven't been disappointed. My sister and I love the Pacifica special sandwich . They have great coffee, but rude employees. I came in 30 minutes before closing and the barista looked and acted pissed that I was in there.

Prepare to wait if more than two are in line to order. Be watchful when ordering a Lotte as the ingredients are not always what's ordered. Pastries are brought in and with a limited offering. This is a neighbor's dream place if you're from that hood. Staff like to chat with the clients and between themselves so be very patient and accommodating. The staff is a bit young and snobby sometimes. The decor is nothing to write home about. But--great location! It's across the street from the ocean. It's nice to walk here on weekend mornings and get a chai and bagel sandwich and read the newspaper with my husband. Having a coffee shop right across from the ocean, and around the corner from my apartment seems like a good idea...until you go into the chit chat. The staff are RUDE and every drink I have had from the chit chat is horrible. I guess something about working in a no-name coffee shop for minimum wage makes some people snobby. The one star is for the ice cream the chit chat serves. Having a nice scoop of rainbow ice cream on a warm day while watching the ocean is the only saving grace this place has. read more

I went in for a snack really quick before an appointment. Got charged over $9.00 for the drink, when I asked for a refund she refunded me and then without me knowing recharged me for the drink. I thought i saw her do something odd.. So I re inquired to her whether or not I got charged again for the drink. She said no. I checked my bank account later and she definitely did over charge me not once- but twice. A total of $13.30 spent on nothing. Terrible to disappointing. Positives: Friendly staff, convenient location (there's nothing else around the pier that I saw), and an extensive menu. The guy who made the drinks was fast & accurate. Negatives: The process of ordering and receiving food. We ordered our food and they wrote it down. Over the next 20+ minutes, they proceeded to ask us 10+ times what we had ordered. And we repeated it. And they asked again. And they prepared the wrong order...again. It was like a Monty Python sketch. The cake we ordered from behind the counter never showed up either so we had to ask (I notice others had to do this as well). Something is broken in the system - big time. read more

Service goes a long way. I like their bagel sandwiches and the coffee is decent but if you're a regular joe drinker like me, it's usually luke warm. The food and coffee is nothing to write home about. The reason for the 1 star is this: If you don't like people or refuse to pretend to like people, customer service is simply not for you. I used to come here at least three times a week but I've gone on a hiatus from this place over the last six months because it's the last time someone rudely shouts out my sandwich, leaves it on the counter and turns around without so much as a thank you. If you're not slanging 5 star food, you better improve your customer service... I feel like I'm unwelcome in their little clubhouse by the beach when I walk in the door and don't get a hello or even a smile. If I'm unwelcome, that's fine. If you're appreciate a really good cup of coffee and friendly servers, go around the block for a cup at Colombo's deli. If you're looking for a nice, no pressure hang out to play an engaging game of chess (games are provided), read a book, or work on your laptop, then Chit-Chat is a good place for you. Friday evenings they have live local bands that come in to play. I've never stayed for this, but the place seems to be pretty popular when bands play. After walking in the blast of wind for almost an hour, we feel so appreciated that there is a place that we can sit and drink coffee. The place is the only place in front of the pier and looks very small. Once entered, there is a line of stool you can sit and watch the waves hitting the beach through the window. It is warm and quiet inside. The latte is very solid and warm. Very tasty but never too sweet. The clam chowder help to warm you up also. The food is not fancy but solid. Very good place to take a rest before continue hiking back. read more

We arrived at 8:30am to a fully packed place with one unhappy guy behind the counter. He was rude from the start and we were confused by his attitude problem with us. As we started ordering we were told there would be a long wait. I said maybe you need additional help and he said "there should be another person but they aren't here". Ok well it is Sunday morning and the wait is understandable being that full of customers. I'm sure this will be worth the wait I said to myself. It is packed in here and a nice atmosphere other than his attitude problem. Thirty minutes later I received my cold egg, bacon and untoasted wrong kind of bagel breakfast sandwich and wrong size latte with zero apology and my partner still waiting on his breakfast sandwich and cappuccino about ten minutes later he received his cold bagel, cold eggs and cold sausage. No cappuccino. The unhappy employee who took our order told him he never ordered it. I was right there when he did in fact order it. Instead of an apology the guy behind the counter yelled to our table "your going to have to pay for that"... my partner agreed and said please just make the drink I ordered and I will pay for it". The other patrons at this point had all canceled or changed their orders from espresso drinks to regular coffee to be more accommodating for him or just walked out. We received zero apology once again for his mistakes with our order and now another employee finally shows up and is just as rude. It was shocking that he expected us to pay for a medium latte and received a small and offered no compensation but rudely yelled that we would need to pay for the cappuccino he failed to write down or make for us. This is 45 minutes in now. When we asked to have the price adjusted for the latte both employees just said take it and go! With the most sarcastic goodbye. Wow!! Are you people serious!?! That is some horrific service and the sandwiches and drinks were terrible. Never again! read more

As a coffee enthusiast, I tested the staff and tried a latte, cappuccino, macchiato, and mocha, even a hot cocoa! Every one of the drinks were perfectly drawn and foamed. Exactly why we returned so often and I got to try such a variety. The bagels alone keep many coming, I had several myself. I tried the everything bagel, my favorite, as well as a regular. One day I even tried a sandwich with chicken bacon and avocado that definitely wasn't pre-packaged and thrown in a toaster like some coffee shops we know. Slack service and filthy counters are standard. But the coffee's good and the view can't be beat, so I go there. This morning was no exception. I get ignored at the counter, finally pay for my coffee, and there at the coffee station is the usual disgusting mess. Every time I go to this place I want to grab the employees and tell them to wipe down the counters once in a while. But it's pointless. Nobody on staff cares. read more

I would probably never go to the other place, even though it is much closer if this place were open later on nights other than weekends. I think it closes at 8 during weekdays-Actually that is why a lot of people stay on this side of town, it isn't the gas, it isn't that they don't have coffee and food just as good of not better + these guys have the views, it's just the early closing. read more
