My better half orders chicken Pad Thai often and found the taste off compared to many. I found their special noodles rather bland. The vegetables were small and overcooked. Specials on the board were the same as posted in other posts for the last several months and seem expensive at $30-50. All appetizers/desserts were $10 with their special dessert $15. I cannot explain how much I love this place. Absolutely amazing place, great food always warm and delicious, and they recently started adding edible flowers again. The family who owns this restaurant is spectacular, along with the other staff. They are so nice, stylishly dressed and always so welcoming. The atmosphere is amazing with warm lighting, soft pillows and cute decorations. I cannot recommend this place more, if it helps me and my sister usually come here every year for our birthdays as well as special occasions. We were looking for a lunch spot after going to Wormsloe. Saw the great reviews Chiriya was getting and decided to try it out. Chiriya is located a few miles from Bonaventure cemetery (another place to visit). The restaurant is well decorated with a lot of Thai items. We came in after the lunch rush and was seated right away. Believe she is the owner and was friendly and sociable. We started with Tom Yum Shrimp. It was good although a tad sweet. Cook may be from South Thailand where dishes are sweeter in general. Plenty of shrimp for us to share. Ordered the pork basil and was good. It had some edible flowers on top. Nice touch. My wife ordered the pad Thai. This is one of the best Pad Thai I've had. The egg on the pad Thai was amazing even better than the chicken. I had originally mistaken it for chicken as it was in big pieces. Tasty and crunchy all at the same time. In short, make sure to order Pad Thai when you visit! read more

Absolutely outstanding food quality. Maybe the best Thai we've ever had. I had the Drunken noodles, chicken, medium. Medium is right on the edge of hot, for me, but it was an incredible taste. Plenty hot (temp) too as it was fresh for sure. Wife had noodle special, chicken, medium. Hers wasn't quite as spicy and had a more sweet overall flavor than mine. We ordered takeout from Chiriya this weekend after deciding we did not want to venture downtown for Thai food. Staff member who took our order over the phone was super helpful and pleasant. She gave us her personal recommendations and made sure to walk us through spice levels when choosing a dish which was super nice of her. We got the Steamed dumplings, drunken noodles (Hot) and Yellow Curry (Medium). Steamed dumplings were good, with a thick filling. Hoisin sauce did could definitely use some chili oil or something in there - it was plain. The drunken noodles were delicious and vegetables fresh, but even ordering hot it was not spicy for us (we LOVE spice, so a normal individual may think it's quite spicy!). Highlight for me was the yellow curry, which had a fantastic heat level. The potatoes and vegetables were cooked perfectly. We also ordered a Thai tea, and if you've never had one, order one. This was only my second time eating Thai food some I wasn't sure what to get. The waitress kindly walked me through the entire menu to help me decide on what I wanted. I ended up going with the Ginger chicken Stir-Fry. It was sooooo good. The combination of ginger and chicken was splendid. It was a very hearty and refreshing meal. We went here for the first time. I wanted Thai food. The larking gets a little difficult, but the restaurant is super cute. The service was really great. We ordered the spring rolls to start. Also got the Thai tea, which is good, but whipped cream is not needed. I liked that they cut them to let some of the heat out because they were still scalding hot. We order the atom Yum and Tom Ka soups, which needed to be a tad less sweet in my opinion. I ordered the social noodles, and was disappointed when I got them and 1. They were very sweet and that is not indicated on the menu 2. I asked for Medium spicy and there was no spicy in them. We sort of stumbled across this place while gassing up our car a couple of doors down. It was lunchtime anyway, and we were en route between Tybee Island Beach and Wormsloe Historic Site. We visited around 11:45 a.m. on a Friday. They seemed to be at about half capacity. There was one lady serving all the tables but she kept on top of things. The menu seemed fairly standard for Thai places. I got the drunken noodle and it was good; the portion size was not overwhelming and I didn't have leftovers. My wife like her dish as well. This was the better of the 2 Thai places we tried on our visit to Savannah. read more

The place seemed to be doing a booming carry out business but not many other tables dining in. We also ate at an off time. Our server was nice and we were seated right away. I felt safe here given they seem to be taking COVID seriously, mandating masks and keeping things clean. I ordered wontons for an appetizer. They were very good and stuffed full of fluffy cream cheese. Three of us ordered pineapple curry. It was really just the red curry with pineapple chunks. The curry was good, but it didn't have much chicken. It did have a good level of heat for me. A friend ordered the pad see ew, and it was made with red curry paste which is unusual. It was almost like she got the red curry with noodles instead of rice. Some of the specials sounded good, lamb massaman and duck curry, but they were close to $30, which seemed expensive. Took some friends here for lunch today. Everything we got was fantastic. The menu is clear, and the lady who took our order was knowledgeable about the dishes. We had a vegetarian in our group and she made sure the chef knew and didn't use anything with fish sauce in it. There were at least 10 other people eating and no one was talking because they were enjoying their meals to much! I usually the Thai iced tea but this time I wanted to try something different so I selected the Hawaiian ice tea which was so delicious. If you love ginger and mint then this is the drink for you. It probably would even taste better with rum in it. Started out with the veggie dumplings which were good but I probably will skip next time. I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted not because I'm blonde but I was torn between two dishes and I decided to get both. I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu and I also ordered the Pannag curry with tofu. The person I was with ordered the Kalua pork with cabbage which was cooked in banana leaves. The food was amazing and the dishes were so flavorful. There is no question I will be back. I order both my dishes medium. Chiriya Thai Cuisine is actually in Thunderbolt, a community just 15 minutes outside of Savannah. We knew things were promising from the moment we walked in. I visited Chiriya with my mom on an early Saturday afternoon. Atmosohere: The decor is pretty cool with red walls and eclectic art. They have a chalkboard wall with the specials on it. There's also a small bar area in front. Covid: They do adhere to social distancing guidelines. The tables were very well spaced and the waitress wore a mask. Food: I ordered the pineapple curry with tofu and my mom ordered the chicken stir fry with brown rice ($3 extra ). My mom did not get the brown rice as requested. Taste was amazing but food was lukewarm. I doubt if I had 3oz of tofu and my mom had a whole serving of chicken. There was more sauce than anything else. I work in foodservice and understand the importance of consistent serving sizes but they really could serve at least 3oz of protein and add more vegetables. Maybe they could rearrange the plate differently to make it look fuller. Service: I only saw one waitress working the floor. She was really good despite having to manage the front alone. Only once did I have to get up to ask her for something. Overall: The food was good just not enough of it. I would not come here if I was really hungry. This place is great! The first time we ordered was during quarantine so we could only have take out. The owner was kind and made sure I had all the utensils and sauces I wanted before leaving. We had the Huli Huli chicken (which could feed a family of 4 easily). It has so many unique flavors and comes with rice. It is hard to find larb in this part of GA (if you haven't tried this appetizer it can be a meal in itself) it's quite literally a meat salad and good for low carb diets. We got the scorpion hot and thai hot and this was the first time we've had something where it was ACTUALLY as spicy as they said it was. Most places say its spicy, and we get let down since we were expecting it to be spicy. The food itself was very good, tom yum is a favorite with us and there's was very tasty and clean tasting. I sat beside the Chiriya land line phone just in case the 1970s called. I dialed my childhood home number and I didn't remember it taking almost 10 minutes for the rotary wheel to go around and back--but that's what it seemed like. Almost hypnotic to listen, watch and feel. We didn't get touch tone phones until the 1980s. I don't know why there is an old rotary phone in the dining room at Chiriya. It might have belonged to the owner, Mrs. Moore, when she got her from Thailand by way of Hawaii in the mid-1970s. All I know is that Thai food was completely unknown to me growing up. I like to think I'm making up for lost time. I started with Tom Yum soup which has a lemon grass base with mushrooms, ginger, and lime juice. Refreshing and zingy and it just tasted fresh. It was almost like warm lemonade but that's way too chunky of a descriiption and doesn't exalt the subtlety of the lemon and lime. If something warm can be refreshing, Tom Yum is it. My cashew nut chicken was all the right flavors--but good Lord--I like carrots but the dish shouldn't scream carrots at me when its presented. Bugs Bunny, I'm not. I want the cashews and the chicken. I reordered my forkfuls so I almost could get chicken, carrots, green beans, and broccoli with each bite, but I wasn't dextrous enough. I resorted to my Tom Yum spoon. That's a bunch of whining. My inexpertness did not detract from my enjoyment. Besides, when the 70s called, it was quick to remind me that the only Asian food I had growing up was that La Choy chop suey stuff in a can. read more

Nothing great Thai food and satisfied appetites coming from this joint. Nice cozy little restaurant that, I feel, does not have the credit it deserves. A friend from school told me about them about a year ago and finally we decided to go. It's right off Victory drive past Whole Foods so you don't have to deal with parking troubles, paying to park, or any of the downtown madness you can have at times. It's tucked away and rather hidden so make sure you don't miss it! Walking in the first thing I saw was the 2019 Best Connect Savannah plaque for best Thai food so I was definitely assured we were at the right place then! We started with a small cup of Tom Ka. Never had this before so I have nothing to compare it to, all I know is that it was delicious, packed with flavor, and I wouldn't be upset if I had this every day of my life. Very sweet flavors with hints of lemongrass. For dinner we chose the Pad Thai (bc it looked amazing) and I took the recommendation in the Massaman curry. I'm a biggg curry guy so of course I was going to try theirs. I was assured that it was made from scratch and not a premade processed paste like some places use (you can tell a difference), and it was clear that they made their own. It tasted fabulous. Great flavors all around, mostly sweet and nutty. I wouldn't have complained for the spice to be a little more but I think she was trying to accommodate for my fiancé's palate more than mine lol. Their Pad Thai was top notch. I think it's the best I've tried in Savannah thus far. Once again just full of flavors and each bite just makes you crave more!
