We ordered the chicken lumpia as an appetizer, which were probably some of the best spring rolls that I've ever had. For entrees, my wife and I shared the Bistec Tagalong. We don't eat much and had a beer each, so we were satisfied but I would recommend it for one as it's not a large portion. That being said, it was very tasty! My son had the grilled Liempo if memory serves, which was incredibly tasty and a large portion. It's perfectly cooked pork belly with rice, pickled onions, and tomoatoes. Finally, we finished with the halo halo that is a must try if you're an adventurous eater. I had to take a picture to share because it's like nothing you've seen anywhere! Such homey and cozy space to be in for dinner! The service was phenomenal, we were greeted, seated and take orders within minutes. The waitress was also very attentive and giving us recommmendations and check back on us all the time. She also brought me chili oil because we told her I like it spicy! I had dinner here to wrap up my travel time in Savannah and ate their ox tail kare kare, a savory peanut-based stew with veggies and bagoong (shrimp paste). I loved the taste so much that I ate the entire serving--it had me thinking of my mom's cooking and life and I honestly almost cried in there lol. I enjoyed my meal with a San Miguel beer and would've loved desert if I had eaten only half of my meal and taken the rest of the kare kare to go. I also ordered a bowl of sour soup with my meal, which was delicious too but ambitious--I took that to go. Hazel, who took my order, was very friendly and made sure I felt welcomed. I enjoyed conversing with her and another regular during my evening there, and also enjoyed the layout of this restaurant. I loved learning about the history of this place and knowing that the Filipino community here has a spot for their food in this area. Also, they sell Filipino pride clothing--I was especially surprised to see a barong tagalog on display! For dessert we ordered halo halo and it was actually really good with just vanilla ice cream which surprised us. They were out of ube ice cream for the halo halo and out of cassava cake which we were hoping to try too. We had a positive experience and next time we will try the lechon kawali. We could hear how crunchy the lechon was from the table behind us. The customer service is excellent. The waitress checked on us often and the chef stopped by for our feedback on the food. I work with nurses from the Philippines and am quite familiar with the food, especially pancit. I have never seen or eaten pancit with soy sauce, and what I ordered last night was drenched in it. It was incredibly salty. The menu photo looked like pancit I've eaten at work, and it did not at all match what I received. My husband received a skimpy portion of adobo chicken. For food we got some salmon sinigang. Its a sour and savory broth soup. This is one of my favorite filipino dish. They have pork and salmon option. It has spinach and other types of veges. We enjoyed the this soup a lot because it has its unique kick. Try it! We also got the bicol express. They make it different here. They make the pork crispy like the lechon kawali dish (deep fried pork) then they add the coconut milk. Honestly this is my less favorite dish in everything that we ordered. I know its not the authentic bicol express and I get it but I the way this was cook is not really my cup of tea. I can barely taste a bagoong (shrimp paste) in it and the coconut sauce don't really have so much flavor. I'ved tried this dish in any type of cooking style and I can also cook it so I will rate this dish 4 out of 10. We also got their pancit and it was actully one of the best pancit I've ever had in any filipino restaurant. It was full of ingredients like pork, lots of veges and they add some egg on top. Thrilled to find a Filipino restaurant when we visited Savannah this week! It was a very unassuming spot located in a small plaza and well worth the visit! The ambience was lovely and the food was delicious. We had traditional dishes like lumpia and pancit. The inasal grilled chicken was flavorful and juicy.
