The Club Sandwich
Leland L.

Good sandwiches but a little overpriced. I was impressed by the amount of meat and I liked their pickles! The sandwich comes with a dill spear and 2 bread and butter slices and also came with a bag of chips. If the sandwiches were cheaper I would come here often, however, it wasn't astounding enough for $15. I did really like that the club has prosciutto instead of bacon! Inside: Definitely grungy and a local spot. Cool place to pop in for a drink but a little slow when you order food (the waitress explained that they can only fit a few subs in their tiny oven at the same time). Better place for a small group rather than a lot of people.

Amazing food + beverage

This place is so amazing. I am from CA and a Ruben lover. I was so curious if this place was gonna prove the reviews true. ...little to say it did. I am going to be dreaming about this place. Food + drinks = fire. The bartender was amazing. She was the reason I am writing this. The place was set up in a Halloween theme (my fav). Just an amazing vibe and music through. I hope to come back and visit Virginia just for this establishment.

Made in Turkey Sub
Wael D.

I've driven by this place thousands of times and I'm beating myself up for not trying it sooner. Staff is super friendly and cool. I ordered a "made in turkey" and it was awesome. I loved the flavor of the meat and the bread was ridiculously good. I'll definitely be back more often for my lunch breaks and highly recommend this place for anybody looking for amazing sandwiches packed with flavor.

Lunch

Rainy day in Richmond calls for an easy lunch situation so we stumbled upon this sandwich shop after strolling in Carytown! We walked in and the waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted and we picked a booth in the back. The place has a nice bar and a chill vibe. The menu has all sandwiches and subs which was great. We went with two clubs which was the best choice. The sandwiches came out fast and they were huge! Highly recommend stopping in.

I have never heard of this place but it was somehow on my yelp list to try. This place is located in the Museum District of Richmond. The location can make parking a challenge as it is all street parking. So availability can vary. We went for a late lunch on a Saturday and parking was not an issue. This place is kind of a dive in looks. It is down a few steps from the sidewalk to gain entry and is not very large. There are some tables and booths. It was fairly empty when we got there... maybe 4-6 other people. They have some craft beer available and a decent selection of sandwiches. My wife got the heated club sub and I got a cold Dagwood. The heated one was better but both were good. These are also large sandwiches!! Definitely enough for lunch! There was also some cool old Football posters of people and items from the area. Pretty cool place to give a try

I randomly came across this spot while driving through Richmond to Norfolk and every time I'm in Richmond I have to go. We went early on a Sunday most times and the service was quick, atmosphere was great and sandwich's were top notch. Highly recommend.

Reuben Sandwich
Menghai T.

I got the Reuben sandwich and it was loaded with meat. I like the dill pickle and the butter pickles that they included with the sandwich and chips were just a generic utz bag nothing fancy. For ~$16 it was a more on the expensive side. Service was pretty bad. It took 10 minutes for someone to get our order and another 10 minutes for drinks. The food took another 20 to 30 minutes to come out. We didn't get any napkins and had to take it from another table. The lack of service really hinders the overall experience, overall its a 4.4/10. If you just care about the food it's pretty decent. I probably would not come back.

Go here for inexpensive but good sandwiches. Don't try to be fancy, just get a sailor and a pitcher of beer, and you'll leave happy.

House made Pastrami was delicious-go with the 1 lb (buy the pound) Pastrami sandwich -at least 2 if not 3 sandwiches in one. Corned Beef was also tasty and some of the best we've had. Latkas and Dill potato salad hit the spot but the Garlic Dill fries stole the show-one of a kind and not to be missed. For dessert, we saw they had Hamantaschen and got one of each-both very good with rich fruit spread topping. Service was engaged and patient (given our questions and recommendation requests) as our order was being placed. An extensive menu with everything from Beef tongue sandwich (Jewbano) to Chicken Liver as well Hot Dogs and Smoked Salmon and Whitefish. We wanted it all! My wife had the chopped chicken liver appetizer and the potato latke appetizer. The food was very good and the service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely go again. They close at 3 pm and are NOT open for dinner.

It is VERY loud inside, there is nothing in the restaurant to absorb sound. So it is hard to talk to anyone at your table if there are more than 3 parties inside. The tables were small and wobbly. The chairs were hard, uncomfortable, and small. The restaurant is mostly tables with chairs like this so there is no where to put your purse but on the floor. We ordered a beer and they handed us a tall can with no glass. We had to ask for a glass and they didn't pour the beer for us. This was the manager, might i add. I will not be going back here.

Our server was Braxton, a delightful young lady. She was witty and a diligent server and all the things...and she did not steer us wrong when it came to the food. My husband and I both had a taste for ordering an Italian sub and Braxton said we would not be sorry if we ordered it, and we were not. I was literally moaning with almost every bite. I am a potato salad connoisseur. I will not eat it unless it is freshly made. I don't do any of the grocery store type of potato salads. (Gross!) I asked Braxton about it and she said that in general, she doesn't even like potato salad, but at this restaurant, she absolutely loves it and highly recommends it. Knowing it is freshly made on site, plus her recommendation, I decided to try it. Oh my word! This potato salad is straight from the portals of heaven. Sooooooo good. This might not seem like a big deal, but it's a very big deal to me. I like freshly brewed tea. Nothing bottled. Nothing out of a soda machine. (Disgusting!) I asked Braxton if the tea was actually brewed there and she said yes. Tea is not the same everywhere. Sometimes it's so weak, you don't even realize it's tea. Not here! It was perfect. This makes a huge difference to me as when my beverage is perfect, I enjoy my meal a lot more. The entire meal was top notch. The service was absolutely excellent. We loved having Braxton and would ask for her again. A DJ was setting up as we were eating. We learned that they have karaoke and trivia nights earlier in the week as well as dance nights on the weekends. My husband and I mentioned that we would definitely come back and bring friends. I loved my experience here and it could not have been made any better by anything.

They have a seating section in the back that is cozy and humble, and another seating section in the front that looks like a tea room to me. As we were waiting for our food to come out a sign at the deli caught my eye, it said: if you're hungry and you can't pay for the food it's free. My eyes welled up with emotion seeing such a kind gesture at this business, it shows you they have good hearts (as well as good taste). The market itself was tantalizing, so many marvelous things to pick from, and foods that you can't easily find around here. Much of the products made in Palestine, Lebanon, Turkey, and America. What to get: A Prosciutto sandwich with Fresh Mozzarella added, maybe What else: Expect an upcharge to add Fresh Mozz How to improve: Don't upcharge so much for Fresh Mozz (sigh) Nick's is a little run-down grocery store which sort-of feels like walking into a check-cashing shop or an urban convenience store that just happens to have a wonderful old-school NY-NJ style Italian deli inside. The deli itself is great, and makes a lot of awesome sandwiches for decent prices. As I said, I don't like the weird upcharges for certain ingredients, but so be it. It makes the prices of a sandwich soar from decent to ridiculous. The sandwiches aren't altogether authentic Italian NY-NJ style, but they are very good. I loved the parts of it that I had fresh, however when I had the rest of the sandwich a little later it had gotten extremely squidgy and soggy because they use a regular loaf of bread rather than anythng hard or Italian. Again, makes it less authentic but still very tasty. Despite these remarks, I haven't had a sandwich this good in the Richmond area before, so you should give it a try. And if it were Niche Produce, then they'd only sell unusual and hard to get hipster vegetables and sandwiches. Whereas if it wer Nix Produce, it would close down soon. And if it were Knickers Produce then I would have torn them down a lot more quickly and intensely than I did in this review.
