First visit to this divey old school joint in at least 15 years. My last visit way back then wasn't that great, but I'd been hearing rumblings on local boards that the chef/owner of the more highly acclaimed Silk Road in Marlborough is now manning the kitchen here, with positive reviews. A Tuesday night visit was chaotic servicewise, but the food came through. Got a fixed Dinner Combo of Sweet & Sour chicken, Boneless Ribs, and Pork Fried Rice. I added "an order of egg rolls." They only gave me one, but only charged me for one, which worked out better. Egg Roll: Very crunchy. Minimal flavor. See photo for composition. Sweet and Sour Chicken: Generous serving, very crunchy, slightly better than average meat-to-batter ratio. Very pleasant golden sauce with some tang and complexity. No pineapples, no cherries. Boneless Ribs: Very thin, some were dry, some were moist. Good flavor with not only the glaze contributing but also some additional seasoning, possibly five spice? Pork Fried Rice: Superb. The right color, texture, and flavor. I partied like it's 1979. Visit 2, a week later: Smaller crowd, less chaos, but a little less wow factor. Dinner Combo with Shrimp & Lobster Sauce, Chicken Wings, and Pork Fried Rice; I added on an app of Boneless Spareribs. Shrimp: Pale, slippery, not undercooked but close. Juicy. Lobster Sauce: Very soft, slightly gelatinous, slightly garlicky, very faintly sweet. Not that warm. Chicken Wings: Three of them on the combo, scorchingly hot, pale, faintly five spiced but not much flavor. Pork Fried Rice: Again excellent, good color and texture, loaded with pork nuggets and onions, slightly smoky, good flavor overall. Boneless Ribs: Thin slivers, nicely coated with red glaze, mostly moist, slightly fatty, occasional gristle. Overall: Not in the elite class but with the right order can be a contender for that next level. Though uneven, there's enough promise to keep going back, and if the rice is this good every time, it's worth going back even if only for that.

4/21/18 It's been nearly a decade since I've had East Coast Chinese food. The food out in Cali is so much different and very bland. We went here on a whim and decided to give it a try. We started off with a bunch of drinks and I tried the Pineapple Passion. it was so good i had to get another! Our server was Denni or Dinni? She was awesome. Full of spirit and a fun person as well. She was joking with us and the food came out rather quickly. We ordered a bunch of plates and the chicken wings, Potstickers, spare ribs were awesome! The Teriyaki steak was a little tough but still had great flavor. The rice was very good as well. Tasted like it was just made and full of flavor We went on a Saturday and the entire experience was wonderful. This was our last meal until we headed back to San Diego. We're coming here on our next trip back!

Generals chicken with fried rice. Ate less than half the dinner special. Couldn't get past the "chicken" that was about 70% breading.

My family raves about this place and have been coming here for years! I've been three times so far and love it. It's very small and basically do most of thier business via takeout. I always order the same thing along with the mini potstickers. The teriyaki sticks are the best in town! The rice is to die for as well. The Lobster sauce is really good too! The young lady that always helps me is sooo nice. I love coming here and wish they had places like this out here

I was…read moreparticularly fond of the authentic Szechuan dishes, such as the Honey Crunch Fish, Twice Cooked Pork, Braised 5-Spice Pork, Spicy Boiled Fish, etc. Unfortunately, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the chef-owned business changed hands and those amazing dishes are no longer offered. My view of the current establishment may be tainted by my mourning for the wonderful restaurant this used to be. Now, it is a perfectly decent takeout restaurant, but does little to standout from so many run of the mill Americanized Chinese restaurants. The quaint and homey dining room has gone downhill, and it is no longer somewhere I would "dine-in" as the room is mostly used for preparing takeout orders. The lunch special I tried recently had only 4 shrimp, but a really nice mix of fresh vegetables in the sauce, including yellow squash, zucchini, carrot, onion, bell pepper, snow peas, and broccoli. Personally, I loved having these veggies, particularly given the soy sauce laden fried rice lacked any vegetables.

They have a lot of lunch options and different combination plates. The lunch options are under $10. They include soup or a soda. Pork Fried Rice or White Rice. Choice of an appetizer and an entrée. A great value for the money. I got the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce, Pork Fried Rice, an Egg Roll and Hot and Sour Soup for less money than fast food restaurants. The Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was absolutely delicious, and I'm extremely picky on this dish. It had four jumbo Shrimp in a delicious sauce. The Pork Fried Rice was light in color, strong in flavor. It was delicious! The Egg Roll had a nice combination of celery, pork, cabbage and the right seasonings. It passed my no duck sauce needed taste. The flavors were great. I tried the duck sauce, although it looked like, it had that great New England apple flavor. The only item I wasn't a huge fan of was their Hot and Sour soup. I felt it lacked flavor and was missing some old school ingredients. Overall, this was a great lunch stop with a lot of value for your money. I will definitely return!

Two of my favorites are the Mandarin Delight and Beef & Broccoli. The sauces are light with just enough flavor that doesn't overwhelm and drown your food. I ordered spare ribs and specifically asked that they not be burnt because I really can't stomach charred ribs. When I got home, I discovered they had given me boneless ribs instead. To make matters worse, they were burnt to the point of being inedible. I called the restaurant, but instead of acknowledging the mistake, they insisted I had ordered the wrong item. The only solution they offered was a refund if I drove back and returned the burnt boneless ribs. After already making the trip home, wasting another 20 minutes just to get a refund for their mistake wasn't exactly customer service. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing memorable. It's hard to enjoy the meal when the order is wrong and the restaurant makes fixing it your responsibility. I know quality Chinese takeout options in the area are limited, but there are still other places I'd rather support. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Wantes to try another Chinese food place. This was down the street from where I was staying…read more It's my perfect style like hole in the wall which tends to make some great food. I started with the Potstickers and Teriyaki skewers and egg roll. It was freshly cooked and the employee was very nice. 10 mins later I was at my hotel. The Potstickers were amazing!!!! They were some of the best I've had! The Teriyaki steak was very dry and not much flavor. The Eggroll was very good!! Overall i give it a 4 out of 5. When I come back I will be here again no doubt!!! I also took pictures of the most recent menu as of Dec 8.

I've had the shrimp with broccoli combo a few times, and is consistently pretty good. We placed a…read morelarger order recently, though, and were really disappointed with the food as 2 of the 4 dishes were not enjoyable. The beef with scallions didn't seem to have any scallions - just yellow onion - and the beef itself was an undetectable cut of odd tasting meat that mostly wound up in the garbage. It was also supposed to be "medium" spice and we all thought it was extra mild. The pineapple chicken was very saucy, but oddly bland. A little sweetness from the pineapple, but otherwise a watery, artificial tasty, unappealing sauce. The seafood delight was the dish I preferred the most as the shrimp were well cooked and the vegetables were fresh and crisp. There was a lot of what appeared to be imitation crab meat that had a starchy, noodle like texture. It was unexpected as the menu description indicates scallops, shrimp, and vegetables, but it added "volume" to the dish. Lastly, the crispy white meat chicken with broccoli was decent. It seems the star item at this restaurant is broccoli and they consistently cook it so it remains crunchy, but softened. They were also very generous with white rice as each dish came with it's own small white rice. The order was ready on time and well packaged for takeout.
