Chinollo is very unique because it's the owner is Cuban born, Peruvian raised and of Chinese heritage, so the menu is a mix of Latin American and Asian fusion. It is located in a small plaza across from Galaxy Park which makes it great for post-workout or if you want to walk around a bit after eating or just casual eats. There's also a great dessert place in the area (Ken's Ice Cream Parlor). It's self-serve, but when our party got there the kiosk wasn't working (they did fix it after we ordered). The menu prices online when we searched through our phones are outdated so when we ordered at the register food was pricier than expected. However, the food was really good. -Edamame wontons are a new favorite for me! I'll have to keep an eye out if I ever see them on a menu. -El California Burrito: For some reason this took the longest to make, but not sure why. The chips were warm so maybe they made them fresh? Overall service and food was made pretty quickly. My friends got the got the Korean Tacos, Groovy Burger, and Pork Belly Banh Mi and everyone seemed to enjoy the food. They have everything from salad bowls to burgers to burritos to soups to matcha lattes. They seem quite popular even on a Thursday at 2pm as there was a steady flow of take out orders. To order: There's 2 ordering kiosks as well as 2 cashiers to take the order & payment. Then they bring your meal to the table. They let you customize the bowl base with rice, raw greens, garlic noodle, or even 1/2 and 1/2. I tried 1/2 raw greens (10/10) and 1/2 garlic noodle (5/10, not garlicky enough for me, but maybe it's meant for the white American palate). There's a water jug with lemons if you would like to drink water but their drink menu is extensive from lemonades to teas (milk tea, fruit tea, hot tea), crafted pops, and lattes. With 6 tables of 4 inside and 2 tables of 8 as well as 4 tables of 2 outside, there's plenty of seating. Parking: shared lot for the strip mall Got the: 1. Honey lemonade: 9/10, even though they let you adjust the sweetness, it was the perfect level of sweetness at regular 2. VIP Poke bowl: 9/10, it came with a decent amount of tuna, although there were 2 pieces with so much tendon that I had to spit those out. You could tell seaweed salad was frozen as it was still icy in the bowl, but the day was so hot (they didn't have AC on inside) that by the time I was halfway through my meal it had warmed to the perfect temperature. Tried a sample of the curry chicken at a yelp event and really enjoyed it. I wanted to try other things on their menu and brought my coworkers with me. I ordered the pork belly Bahn mi and it was amazing. It had big chucks of flavorful and tender pork belly, plenty of vegies and the right amount of sauce. I especially appreciated the fact that the bread was toasted just right and ensured the sandwich didn't get soggy. I elected fries for my side and upgraded to truffle fries. They were nice and crispy and lot of cheese and truffle flavor. For my drink I tried the strawberry matcha. It was a great value, got 25% sweeet and it was perfect for me. Very refreshing. One of my coworkers ordered the El California burrito. It was pretty big and he couldn't stop raving about the huacatay crema. He even went up to the counter and asked for extra. Other members in my party ordered the Baja Bowl, Thai Chicken Curry and Saltado Peruano. Evryone loved their dishes and mentioned they cant wait to come back and try something new. I ordered the Big Wave smoothie, it had pineapple and banana, it was creamy and refreshing and feels like a tropical vibe on an island. I ordered the El Gogi burrito and it had free-range chicken, sriracha-chipotle-mayo, sticky rice, furikake, kimchi, gochujang, cucumber, cilantro, green onion. I was pleasantly surprised how flavorful and not as spicy it was. It was so good I finished it in one sitting. The regular fries were okay, nothing to special but the sweet potato fries were so yummy. It had a bit of sweetness to it which balances right with the little spice in my burrito. The only thing wish the meat was cooked more well done it was medium and very chewy in some parts. I didn't see an option in the kiosk to ask how we wanted it done. I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of matcha drinks which was cool bc I'm not a big coffee person although they have good options for that also. Recently tried Chinollo for the first time prior to going to a Galaxy game and I must say I liked the clean interior. The staff was friendly, and service was pretty fast. I came with a group of 6 and although I absolutely fell in love with the groovy burger that I got, there were mixed reviews. My burger however was so savory and delicious. The burger has many great ingredients such as caramelized onions, mushrooms, arugula, grass fed beef, provolone cheese, etc. I really loved the burger. If I'm in the area I will get this burger again guaranteed. The fries were good too, very crispy. The reason I held back on a better rating is because the decision was split with between like and dislike. My husbands opinion is the one that matters most since I ended up sharing my burger with him to make up for his dislike of his burrito. The flavor of the California Burrito was just not there and lacked chicken. I took a few bites & it definitely needed some more seasoning and definitely more chicken. A couple other negatives are that my strawberry lemonade lacked flavor, & my husband's zingy pineapple drink was disappointing. This drink should be called a ginger refresher because we could not taste any pineapple. I ended up giving him my strawberry drink because I can handle ginger. My suggestions would be to name the zingy pineapple drink to a ginger drink, add a little more sugar and strawberries to the strawberry lemonade, add more chicken & seasoning to your California burrito, and DO NOT CHANGE the groovy burger. Had a great lunch at Chinollo with the fam. We ordered a burger with truffle fries and a bowl with chicken over white rice. They don't have regular soft drinks here so we ordered two iced teas (no refills, fyi). Seems like a lot of folks order for delivery or take out. They have some outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. There's two unisex bathrooms and.some self serve water available. I will say that the overall cleanliness of the tables and the bathrooms leaves a little to be desired. The tables smelled sour like they didn't sanitize the towels after cleaning and the bathrooms had a mildew smell. So I ended up wiping down our table with an alcohol cloth before we ate. The food was perfectly seasoned and proportioned. The service could have been friendlier or more helpful. Between the cleanliness and service, I had to reduce my rating in consideration of this. Overall, the food was great and moderately priced. For the price of the iced tea, one would expect refills but that is not their policy here.
