I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture of the food. It was delicious. I had a breakfast taco which it was perfect for me and my partner had a BLT. However. A little bit of nostalgia for me today. Before CMR, the Dandy Lion Coffey Shop was there - which I had visited several times many, many years ago. I spoke with my waitress and she informed me that CMR are the new owners and that there is no connection to DLCS. Today, I got the Traditional Breakfast with coffee. Everything was delicious. The bacon and hash browns were crispy. The eggs were light. The coffee was a nice medium roast. Service was very friendly and prompt. Dining is available both inside and outside with a couple of tables. No issues with parking since CMR is located in a large shopping center shared with Sprouts Market. There is construction going on in the parking lot, but the place its self is fine. We were seated relatively fast. Deciding what to eat was hard. But we eventually settled on a breakfast burritos. We were excited about this place, however were unpleasantly surprised. The food was just OK. What really made the experience unpleasant was the service. There was a gentleman that was working his butt off cleaning tables and working so hard (he's the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars and not just 1). Then there was our waitress. Half the time we were there she was on the phone. She never came to check if we needed anything else, to refill coffee, nothing. She brought my husband the wrong plate, forgot my daughter's tortillas, and we didn't get a chance to ask for a correction because she never came by our table to see if we needed anything. I've been recovering from chemo so I haven't been able to eat food for quite a while. I bought some menudo bcuz I believed I could tolerate the broth. The wait staff was extremely kind and understanding of my request and I think the menudo is delicious. It was just the thing I needed and I'm so happy I was able to enjoy it. This unassuming little diner that closes at 2pm is truly a gem! If I lived near by I would be coming here regularly. It's unfortunate that the strip mall has everyone under construction. We almost didn't go in based on the outside. Inside looks like a little dressed up diner, complete with plant walls and neon signs. Service was fast and friendly, but it's the food that shines! I've had plenty of shrimp and grits, but this was unexpectedly lovely! I got it the straight up "normal" way, but apparently some people ask for it with cheese and onions. What surprised me was how many big fat shrimps were on top, and they were not overcooked! The Mexican style preparation was delicious! If you are afraid of spice, you'll be ok with this. I didn't think it was spicy at all, but my husband felt it had a little. I hold t make up my mind, so I also got the Menudo. Normally Menudo is only served on Sundays at a lot of restaurants. But here they serve it every day! It's tasty, and comes with your choice of flour or corn tortillas and they give you lime, cilantro, and onions on the side for you to put in as much as you want My husband went for a more traditional breakfast, with scrambled eggs and a waffle. It all looked good. He also got some oatmeal. If you do not like a lot of cinnamon on your oatmeal, make sure to say so. They automatically put a big swath of cinnamon on top of the oatmeal. They served it with brown sugar and raisins. We like cinnamon, and felt the oatmeal was delicious and soothing. That's definitely a plus! Restaurant started to pack as our food arrived at our table. It seems like it's quite popular for the locals. I think you can guess what I ordered, shrimp and grits! My husband had Huevos con chorizo without the beans. Probably not really the right place for shrimp and grits, but won't say it was bad. It's good, but just not the bold flavor I was looking for. I could say the same for the huevos con chorizo. Was not a fan of the salsa. We've tried a better one before. I saw they have menudo in the menu and noticed some people ordered and enjoyed them. One of the best Mexican/American diners I've been to; hands down. Me and my wife both got chilaquiles, one green and one red. Food is full of flavor, and the service is exceptional. Our waiter was attentive and polite, and our food was out fast. The place is small but with enough seating. In a side strip of a strip mall under renovations we found it Really no clear signage. My husband ordered the Huevos Mexicana, I ordered the Hearty Omelet. Both were delicious. We ordered a coffee and hot tea, both were served hot. The service was excellent too. Definitely recommend it if you are in the area. Stopped by here to do some work and grab breakfast. I thought it would more of a cantina style but was more of a modern vibe. Has a bar, bunch of TVs, open space with plenty of seating. Very clean. Service was excellent. I was promptly seated and my order was taken a few minutes later. Food came out very quickly. Crowd was light at around 9 am. As for the food, it is a mix menu of Mexican style breakfast as well as American style. I was tempted to get the the A La Mexicana burrito but chose the California omelette. This was an interesting find. My fil took here after picking us from the airport. The humbleness (almost sketchy ) lol of their frontside is definitely different from the nice faux wall of greens inside. I like the simple, yet modern vibe they try to incorporate in a small space of maybe 20 max? Food- I had their chiliquilli with over easy eggs- the eggs were perfectly cooked and runny! I like the crunchiness of the friend corn tortillas, and spicy red sauce. I do wish they have pork chops or an another hearty meat on the menu. And maybe some fresh juices, instead of bottles. This was a recent discovery close to work, and I went two times with two different vibes. One, during a weekday (like a Wednesday). It was very mellow, good food, I got tacos. But my most recent visit, on Friday, it was busy! AND people were enjoying bottomless mimosas...brunch, it was a fun atmosphere. Here, I got the shrimp and grits, and it was delicious! I tried to bring hubs with me once, to try their chilaquiles (see our search for the Great Chilaquiles lol), but they were closed. Their hours are morning and afternoon only. It's a small place in an unassuming strip mall next door to a convenience mart. Plenty of parking and close to the LA Galaxy stadium (Dignity Health Sports complex). So, I found this place on Yelp. It's in a little shopping complex with ample parking. However, it's next to a liquor store and I saw a man drinking beer in the shared parking lot. The restaurant is warm and cozy. They have three tvs showing various sports. The server/hostess was perfect! Kind, attentive and very much a "can do" gal. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette which was the fluffiest I've had in years and it had a TON of ham in it. Delicious! Here's the best part, you can substitute the potatoes, for grits. GRITS!!!
