I have been eating this Chinese food for over 25 years now. I could honestly say I was only disappointed once and that was when I pulled up on a Monday only to realize they were closed. That was the only time I love this place I turned my husband onto this place and he in returned turned me on to their shrimp egg foo young. I always order the chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli and 2 egg rolls, now back in the day the egg rolls were huge, they since then have gotten smaller but still the best. He now stay wanting their shrimp foo young extra shrimp, orange chicken and egg rolls. The service is always great has always been the same man for the last 20 years at the window. He's friendly quick and always polite. There is no need for ambiance when it's a to go place, they have their lunch menu on one wall and their all day menu right in front of you. They have a ball machine and some candy dispenser for the kiddos. You really don't need to much Will always stay returning to this place. Moved away and I still return not as much as in use to but when I was done real good made to order Chinese food this is my go to place. I have tried the rest and this is the best. Oh my goodness I've been going here for 15 years, they food used to be so good now they slacking on a Pimpin. I guess economy is hard on them because they food it taste nasty. The rice is dry no flavor. Some people might still like it, but I don't I used to. But everybody taste buds are different. Super small hole in the wall but in my opinion, the type you should visit at least once and see what the fuss is about. It's hard to find but it between a Subway and Popeyes. They have the best prices in town considering you can get the best shrimp fried rice in South LA for under 7 bucs. Make sure you order ahead of time waiting for food in the hood is really annoying. This place is pretty good. And yeah, it's definitely in the hood (nestled between Subway and Popeye's Chicken). I've been coming here for years, but all I ever get is the Shrimp Fried Rice and egg rolls (which is why I'm only giving them 3 stars). If you like the NYC hole in the wall Chinese takeout restaurants...this is your spot. The food is made to order, unlike those "Combo A, B, C " Chinese spots, and very reasonable. The fried rice is some of the best you'll find in town (as far as fast food) and these people are very generous with the shrimp...every bite is a shrimp (and they're large). You can't leave here without trying the egg rolls (they're not on the menu), but they're huge, tasty, and cheap (but not amazing, lol). Yes, it's in Watts, and yes you'll come across people begging for .50 cents every now and then. But this is a good spot if you're in the area. *Lol, and it doesn't surprise me that I'm the first to review this place after all the years they've been in business. Don't come here!!!! I used to LOVE this place but I bought some food yesterday and they changed all their ingredients. The food lacked flavor, the changed the meats, it was watered down, the broccoli was too mushy and I also bought two egg rolls which I used to love eating in the past. So these egg rolls were smaller and they were expired!!! Without even tasting it yet, there was already a funky smell to it. I thought I was being paranoid but I bit into it and it tastes just as bad. The egg rolls was the first thing I ate before I ate the Chinese food so that for me was already a bad sign. The egg rolls were expired, the food lacked flavor, it was too watery, they changed their ingredients and their protein and they raised up their prices for cheaper quality... its not the same as before. The reason for the 3 star is because I must say in all my decades of eating Chinese food I've honestly never seen nor had orange chicken like CE served. It was dry way over battered and the taste was indescribable-like a mixture of ginger and red dye. On the flip side the rice was yummy-I get mine w/no eggs n extra green onions-extra shrimp (about $2 bucks-not a few cents) as stated by another reviewer. The broccoli n beef had good flavor. I liked the fact they make your food on the spot when ordered, also the prices were reasonable. I didn't even mind having to stand around in the inside while it kept filling up with costumers. However I was not too impressed with the taste of the food. I ordered shrimp fried rice and the orange chicken lunch special. It wasn't any different from any other Chinese food places I frequent. I was happy I was in the area and didn't drive out of my way. It was not nasty at all, but it nothing stood out about besides the orange peel I found in my orange chicken. When I first came in the first thought was Get out of here because I originaly thought this place was those typical chinese spots where all the food is laid out and you choose what sides you want etc, but then I saw all these people coming in to order lunch so I thought wth it must be good, boy was I glad to stick around and order!
