I live not too far from this Chinese eatery but when I went there, Holy Moly, it was tasty. But I will explain why the 4 stars. I really do not care about the restaurant decor or condition because I do not like to dine-in alone in public. I rather take my food home. I got Combo B and I tried the Chicken Teriyaki, Orange Chicken, wings, and Broccoli Beef. The Chicken Teriyaki is kind of tender and sometimes it is burned a little bit but I do like it a little dark. Still good enough to eat. Orange Chicken is crispy but a little too sweet in my point of view. Chicken Wings are also sometimes a little burned but good enough to eat. Broccoli beef is chewy sometimes but I cannot say no to that. I admire that they have a Grade A from Health Inspection but the food kind of throws me off. But 4 stars is better than 1, 2, or 3. But I still come here to eat because I do not hate the food. read more

The orange chicken is crispy but the beef wasn't the same as usual. The meat is usually soft but today it was a bit tough and chewy. I was a customer for over 15 years + until recently. The restaurant has new owners since.. I dunno 2012? Before the new owners, this place would get packed! Literally the line during lunch time, would go out the door to the corner of the building. The old owners knew us by name, greeted us, and we would just engage in conversation. The food was flavorable and dam good! Currently with the new ownership, the owners continue to be polite. But none the less, the food is different as much as they try to make it as original as possible. For example, the chow mein use to have lots of veggies like cabbage carrots and bean sprouts. Now, there very thin cut and hardly any in addition to all the grease on it. Another example, the orange chicken use to have meat with a thin coating of that orange crisp. Now, there's hardly any chicken! ! I take a bite, and it's just crispy fry chunks of fat. Reminds me of pork rimes. The place does jam-pack food into a to go box, if ur a quantity over quality foodie. And have good wonton soup. Anyways, I wish the business the best in their work. I'll been going to this place since, I was 3 and the original owners own this restaurant. This Chinese restaurant was once located where Cesar Chavez Middle School is now built. So from that, I can tell you that I've been coming to this place for many year and the new owners are not generous especially with their fried rice. There's two women who serve the plates. If your lucky to get the younger of the two she is a lot kinder with the portion she serve, but if you get the cranky old lady she serve a lot less. The old one is very rude,stiny, and pretend to be deaf when you ask for a little more. The orange chicken is not the same if you don't mind eating ligament,fatty tissue,mushy chicken have at it. Not to mention, if you dont mind them taking away the hot sauce, they already place inside your bag of take out just, because you would like to get to some srirachas, go right ahead. I love this place. This is one of the best local establishments I've been too. Unfortunately due to Covid-19 I can see how some places choose too either open or close. My complaint is the inconsistency with dates of opening, first May 1st, then May 15 and now May 25. I can only speak for myself and say I take time and gas to drive to Joy Wok. Welp, I most say I drove in circles looking for this place but was determined to give it a try. As far as appearance and upkeep it definitely was not up to standard or should I say my expectations. I reviewed their Health grade which was an A so I proceeded with giving it a try. Here's what I ordered Chow Mein & Fried Rice, Orange Chicken and Broccoli Beef. The food was definitely tasty the orange chicken had a slight crunch to it which I loved. The broccoli beef upon observing the beef in the pan I had to inquire what exactly it was as the there was no broccoli present, they got the broccoli from the kitchen. I'm assuming to keep it crunchy and not be overcooked under the cooking lamp. The Fried Rice was average the Chow Mein was tasty with a hint of garlic which is one of my favorites. If I'm in the area again I'll stop by, not the best of areas after dark and considering I past it up, I parked on the street. It is located on the corner and adjacent to the alley. I observed a man just standing right outside the gate in the alley upon arriving and leaving. By the way I got two egg rolls which weren't bad but not the best. The staff was friendly. read more
