This place is by far one of my favorite go to places for fast food Chinese by my job. Everything is always fresh and ready to go. Normally I get the 3 item combo but today my tummy felt a little off so I got myself a wonton soup with steam rice on the side. Service is always good, friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is what you expect or see at any other fast food place. It's small and people are coming in and out. If you want to sit and eat you can. This is by far the best Chinese in the area comparing it to others I been to in the area. Also their BBQ pork is amazing, just know that they that item isn't available until noon. Wow forgot I had reviewed this place 5 years ago. Price is still amazing for what its worth, $10.95 for a 2 item combo for amazing portions. Like the box didn't even close. Jalapeño chicken is still spicy as hell and delicious. The jalapeños are seriously so spicy so don't get it if you can't tolerate it. Beef and broccoli is pretty standard and good. Something about that orange color chow mein is so good and of course fried rice is fried rice. Overall decent price for decent food for an amazing quantity. 5/5 read more

Went in, saw that they were pretty much out of chowmein and asked if I could please have new chowmein. Latina server continued to put the chowmein that was there on two of my plates regardless. For the third plate I asked to wait for the new one and she made a face. Server brought out my plate with chowmein. When I came home that one plate of chowmein was covered in salt!! I've never seen salt on chowmein, it was so salty you could see the grains of salt all over the chowmein. Customer service was horrible and I hope they didn't add salt on purpose to my plate! read more

This place is really, really good! My cousin and her family always go here and I'm very picky with my Chinese food. I bought party tray of noodles, and let me just say that they are delicious. The noodles were thick and not too greasy and not too dry. I also ordered party tray of orange chicken and it was really yummy too. My family and I have been customers of this place for years. I've tried other Chinese restaurants but this place put a spell on me. The place itself is pretty small and it can get busy from time to time but the employees are pretty fast so that's a plus. The most I've waited in line was probably 10mins if not less. In regards to their food, it's delicious. I love that they have quite a selection of Chinese food. My plate usual consist of chow mein (I love that it doesn't have all the extra veggies), broccoli beef (their broccoli is always crunchy and the beef is very tender and juicy), sometimes I may get orange chicken which is crunchy just how I like it. If I could give zero stars I would, the Asian lady was really rude to my mother. She wanted a small plate of chow mein and the lady was angry because she was giving my mom the smallest plate and my mom kindly asked her if she can change it to the regular small plate and she went off bad wording my mom. If you are looking for great chinese fast food and very very generous portions I highly recommend this spot. It can be a bit confusing because the sign says "Tasty King". That's why I was never able to find it on yelp. The reviews on here can be misleading. This place is great with good prices. My kids love the teriyaki chicken and Brocolli beef which me and my wife love as well! The popcorn chicken is the best! Its crispy, well seasoned, and has a nice little kick! Bbq pork is great as well as all the other menu items. Combo C comes with 3 items and is enough for me and my wife....and I eat a lot! We've been loyal customers to China Gate for probably 20+ years, even back when they were on Atlantic next to El Superior in Cudahy. About 3 weeks ago we went in for a typical Friday "I don't feel like cooking" dinner. I was taken aback at the new remodeling. Then I looked down at the food warmers and my 1st shock was the chow mein and how pale it looked. My 2nd shock was the "fried" rice and how pale that looked. 3rd shock was no more bbq pork or teriyaki chicken... though being such a loyal person (I'm a Gemini, it's a given) I still bought it and took it home. I can't believe I am saying this but, I was soooooo disappointed. There was no flavor to anything. My dad and I didn't even finish half of our meals before we gave up. It is a sad sad day when you don't have a fast food spot anymore. I'd stay away from China Gate, unless you are a fan of bland food. read more

New owners! My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years and it's so sad how everything has changed. This place lost 1.5 stars in my book. I don't know why they kept the name China Gate considering how it's not China Gate at all. The recipes are not the same and the prices have gone up a dollar. The food is mediocre and can't be compared to the original recipes. They did remodel the place which looks nicer but I guess I'm on the hunt for another close fast Chinese food spot. *sigh* Orange chicken: 2.5 / 5 Where's the chicken? BEST CHOW MEIN EVER. I have yet to find another spot that compares. I live 20 miles away now so I havent been there in like 10 years but I had my sister bring me some chow mein recently and they have not changed their recipe. I remember when the place would have a line out the door and they would microwave your food as you paid for it HAHAHA probably to kill any bacteria growing on it. Love this place! My family has been coming here since I can remember. I absolutely love the noodles here. I've never tasted any noodles as good as theirs. Their broccoli beef is absolutely the best. Overall I love this place. The location itself is regular and the cleanliness of the joint isn't the best but it's not disgusting either. The new business has changed, yes... However, I love the new recipes this Chinese Restaurant has now. Before, the chow mien was very salty and a strange color of brown. I wasn't pleased with any of the food and didn't come back until they redid the place a few months ago. This place doesn't deserve negative reviews because they work hard to cook and prepare, just like all restaurants. No need for hate! Some people can't accept change. (But change is hard, but it's just a matter of getting used to.) The place is well kept and neat of the overall appearance. I personally love the rice and yellow chow mien and a side order of potatoes and beef. Keep up the good work! I will come back many times (more like a few months apart here and there. This place has been around for as long as I can remember. My parent always use to buy Chinese food from here all the time when I was a kid... I remember the ridiculous long line that would go way outside the door. Their food is still pretty good.. My favorite is the Orange chicken, it is soo tasty. It has an awesome crunch to it and the sweetness is nice and balanced with a real Orange flavor. I also love noodles, they are plain no veggies but are super delicious... The eggrolls are enormous and the size doesn't compromise the quality of taste.. Eggrolls are super yummy like non other I've tasted. The servings are pretty big.
