Salad, pot stickers, chicken wing, potatoes, crab rangoon

I eat here almost once a week with my pal Steven. We both enjoy this establishment for the cheap and easy sit down experience. Steven loves the decor in this restaurant though I don't give much thought about it. Some might say the food here isn't very fresh or that the place is a bit trashy but Steven and I think it has amazing charm. I would recommend you give it a shot. They have a huge selection. Some of my favorite items are the pot stickers, general Tso's chicken, and potatoes. Steven adores the lo mein and the green beans. The most recent trip I tried out their chicken wings and they were alright! Every once in a while Steven and I indulge in their sweets. I also have to point out that their sweet tea is fabulous and I usually drink two full glasses at least. I don't have much to say about the service since you serve yourself but everyone I've interacted with is always very nice. Good people. Steven did use the bathroom once and said that the toilet was broken but they might have fixed it since then. I hope so anyway!

The best little Chinese buffet in the the Midwest!

Growing up, this was THEE place to go for Chinese food. I would stay away from pretty much all other Chinese places in the area for fear of gastro-intestinal bugs. Now, this is not really authentic Chinese food, if that is what you're looking for, but it is good. The selection is very large and offers some items that other Chinese food lovers don't even believe exist (like peanut butter chicken) when I mention them. If you are not accustomed to eating very greasy food, then you might not want to go wild on your first attempt - many people are overwhelmed by the spread and load up on the first trip only to regret it later. Like I said, this isn't really authentic Chinese Food, but don't tell that to the locals. There are also a few standard American items like chicken tenders to keep the less experimental diners happy.

Great place to eat! Lots of selection and attentive service! Very clean and lots of tasty…read moreselections. Only thing I would ding them on is food is not always really hot! Today was good but, times the food has just slightly over warm. Good food at a good price! Very nice place for dinner!

I wanted to be fair, so I have intentionally waited until we have been here three visits. We have…read moregone for lunch each time. The first was while in a hotel when we first arrived in June to move into our "forever home" in Staunton (about 10 miles away). We went again a month or so after moving in. We went today (Sunday lunch) because we wanted to pick up a few things at Walmart. Understand where I (we) are coming from. My wife spent her childhood in Hawaii, and her father is Japanese. I am an Army veteran, and have been to plenty of Asian restaurants around the world. I do have a tough standard. I am sincerely not trying to punch down. I want this place to be good, it would be better for my retirement years for it to be good. It is the closest option for buffet. Our Staunton option is a menu only, and it is also not a good option, at all. I understand that a place needs to cater to its patrons to be profitable. I am not saying they don't try, I'm not saying they don't care. I do understand that americanized and (bland) is what they need to lean into. Our lunch today was $40 and we both left unsatisfied. I am willing to eat anything and have the girth to prove it. My wife is a bit more particular, but certainly has the ability to provide a decent value judgement on the things she chooses. There just are not consistently good choices to be had here. The "sushi" for example is marginal at best. There are more breaded/fried items than truly exist in Asian menus at other places I have been. The other items almost always have a sauce that is salt and sugar forward. There are very few spices/textures that I would expect from a Chinese menu. It is relatively clean, the people working here do try to do a good job. I appreciate the effort required to put all this together for us. It has the standard Chinese restaurant decorations (I think there is a kit that can be ordered from somewhere), but they haven't overdone it. I do understand and accept that people like this place, and appreciate the offerings. I am in no way looking down on their preference, [To each their Own] and please continue to enjoy it. If you are however, just passing through, it may not be the best stop for good Chinese food, okay "food" sure, but not on par with other options I have enjoyed.

I think Ginger has descent food - it's all buffet and a wide variety. Traditional Chinese food,…read moreseafood, and a few American staples. I appreciate how clean the buffet is, well stocked and wiped down. I would eat here again, even if to ignore the not too friendly or welcoming staff. No one cracks a smile and it's a little uncomfortable. But the food is descent. Three of us ate for $53. If the service was more friendly, I'd feel better about leaving a tip & I do tip generously... I just don't think the staff is inviting or welcoming. If you can get past that, for Ginger a try if you're looking for a quick, sit down Chinese meal.

I'm a sucker for AYCE buffets. Don't get me wrong, I know most buffets are just different people…read morecooking the same food from Sysco. However, there is something about this place that hits a little bit different. The service is consistently quick, and we've never had to wait for a table, even during what should be the busier hours. In my experience, the food is almost always replenished promptly, so we're not hovering around an empty tray hoping it magically refills. They also offer a solid range of meat options, and I really appreciate the variety of proteins they have around. I also genuinely enjoy their hibachi station. It's simple, but it always scratches that itch and there are a lot of options for sauces/add-ins. Overall, this is a very solid buffet, and can't beat it for the price. 4/5 stars.
