Chinatown Kitchen isn't in the nicest neighborhood, but it's a solid takeout option for those looking for some of that good old dirty American Chinese food near downtown Niagara Falls. Takeout wise, I got broccoli with chicken, some vegetable chow mein, and general tso's chicken. Everything was pretty decent, although the vegetable chow mein had barely any vegetables unfortunately. You can choose a large or small portion for each of the dishes. All 3 of those dishes and I had enough leftovers for a few days, so I feel like the value is still pretty decent even in 2023. Had to order through door dash because they don't do their own delivery. Therefore, I thought I'd save a little money on the fees by ordering two lunch special which seemed like a good deal for $9.95 each. It came with a choice of either white rice or pork fried rice. If you wanted another type of rice like chicken, there's a $2.00 upcharge, which was fine with me. Our orders were delivered quickly. I was shocked however, at the shrunken portion size, since I have ordered from there in the past. They used to give you the rice in a separate container, but this time, it was in with the main course! My daughter ordered the Beef Lo Mein and her rice was underneath her noodles! Shrinkflation at its finest! I was very disappointed in the smaller portions. I ordered Sliced chicken with broccoli and upgraded to chicken fried rice. Same experience with the rice underneath the broccoli. The chicken fried rice was just chicken flavored, without any diced chicken in the rice. I guess they thought the chicken from my Chicken and Broccoli would be enough chicken, but it wasn't. Plus, there was no sauciness at all to my chicken and broccoli. I had to add soy sauce to it. Walked in here yesterday for a takeout order. It was 8:00pm on a Saturday night and Pine Street was pretty deserted. I had a hard time trying to figure where to park, as the street sign said it was okay to park but only until 6:00pm. I settled for the one-way side street, but even that wasn't convenient. The place has a counter and what looks like is a dining room on the left, but that was closed and dark. Perhaps only available in the daytime? At any rate, I ordered the west and sour chicken combo and a quart of wonton soup. It took them 15 minutes to prepare it, and I was on my way. There was a bit of a communication issue when I ordered (they struggle with English) and I received chicken fried rice, instead of pork fried rice in my combo. Though, it was good but not much chicken in the rice. They give you lots of little pieces of great tasting deep fried chicken breast, but the whole combo ($7.85) isn't that big. However, the egg roll is huge and is pretty good tasting. They give you a good amount of sweet and sour sauce in a container too. The quart of wonton soup had tons of huge wonton noodles, perhaps too many! It tasted good, but I'm not a fan of the brownish colored noodle-- I like a white noodle! Clearly a local favorite, as several people came in to pick up their orders while we waited for ours. Food was hot and filling; the pint size was more than enough for one person. Pork with snow peas was chock full of other vegetables and tasty, pork fried rice was quite good, and the vegetable chow mein was also worth getting. Tried this place again. Last time I ordered my food and asked for very spicy and got zero spice at all. Thought we'd give it another try. What a mistake! Husband was throwing up 2 hours after we ate. He had the hot and sour soup and hunan beef. We called to tell them that one of the items was bad so they wouldn't get anyone else sick and the owner just yelled at us and said to go ahead and call the health department if we wanted to. Hubby and I used to go to this establishment back in the 90s and the food was great, but then it took a dip and we found another nearby Chinese restaurant more desirable. But, we decided to try them again after 20 years and we're so happy we did. For under $16 we got wings with chicken fried rice, and general taos with vegetable fried rice and a shrimp eggroll. The wings were crisp and flavored nicely. The general taos was a nicely spicy thick but not too sweet sauce with chunks of chicken and super fresh broccoli. The best part? The vegetable fried rice. Flakey rice with lots of veggies and not at all greasy. Quite different than their competitors. The chicken fried rice was just as delicious with bits of chicken throughout. I'm sold! I just can't believe the reviews for this place. I can only guess that they might be people who've not been anywhere with great Chinese food. Everything we got was cheaply made and sickly sweet. I've worked in restaurants a lot of my life and hate to waste anything. We threw almost all of it away. I was just too much sugar. Even the broccoli in garlic sauce was as sweet as candy. Besides the sweetness, the kung pao chicken barely had any chicken in it. It was mostly celery and also in a thick, sweet sauce. My husband picked up the food and told me that there were buckets and boxes all over the place. I could only speculate that this is unclean food. I've worked in a chinese restaurant before that kept buckets all over the floor and there was food in those buckets. This food was not edible. read more

I was in the area and wanted some Chinese food. Since the reviews were good on this place I decided to try it. It was not to my liking. I am originally from Toronto and the Chinese food there is phenomenal! I was disappointed with this place. I enjoyed the hot and sour soup but that's it. I ordered the house special fried rice, beef noodle dish, chicken wings, crab Rangoon, roast pork, and spring rolls for my family. The food was a little on the sweet side. The roast pork came in this very sweet sauce and not good at all. I guess I was expecting more. I will not be going back to this place anytime soon. read more

I ordered General Tso's chicken fried rice, and my boyfriend ordered a sweet & sour chicken fried rice with shrimp and an egg roll. Whew, and to think I was doing awesome this new year with the diet. That thing went straight out the window with this one, seriously! The lady taking our order was very nice; although, I have to give it to my boyfriend. He understood everything she said, I made out nearly nothing she said. A+, babe. After placing the orders, we went and visited a friend's shop down the road, came back, grabbed the bag with some soy sauce and left. Halfway back to our hotel, I say "Where's the utensils?" She saw us grabbing the bag and leaving and didn't even tell us we were without utensils. Yeah, we should have checked, but she was standing right there! Bummer. We had to turn around and come back. I hadn't been here in years, but was in town and had dinner here with my husband. The veggie fried rice was standard, but actually had some vegetables in it, unlike other places I've had in the area. For not even $5.50 I got a carton completely stuffed with food. It was served hot and tasted fine. My husband ordered the chicken curry and I immediately regretted my decision, since his food smelled and apparently tasted amazing. The woman at the counter was extremely nice and our food was served very quickly to us. She even brought out the fortune cookies at the end, like a desert. China Town Kitchen has the best Shrimp and Broccoli in Niagara Falls. I order this dish on a regular basis and its always delicious. The food is always seasoned perfect to taste.
