    sesame ball

Wanting a sweet after dinner, I picked up a sesame ball and a cha siu filled bolo bau for breakfast the next day. After dinner, the bakery is crowded because ice cream and Taiyaki with ice cream is also served. However, the line moves fast. When choosing items, it's like most Chinese bakeries, you grab a tray and place your items on it. Take the items to the cashier and pay. Even after dinner the bakery was well stocked with items being re-stocked when I was there. Alas, this bakery is take-away with no seating inside. As for prices, they appear to be consistent with other bakeries in the area. For example, another bakery selling sesame balls was 50 pence less. Quality-wise, I thought the products were comparable to other places I value.

One of my favorite bakeries in London. Went twice while visiting. I also opt for the pandas cake and some other pastries. It's always crowded but usually the lines move quick. Ladies are nice in there as well and keep the busy flowing. It's a must visit when in Chinatown and near other attractions and popular stops as well.

The snowball is absolutely incredible! So delicious. And the Jiandui is also light and crispy with delicious red bean filling.

Motivated by rave reviews, I visited Chinatown Bakery to sample their taiyaki. To my surprise, there was no line when I arrived in the evening, a portentous sign that I should have heeded. Taiyaki (£ 2.50 for 4 pieces = $3.12 ) - The pricing is extremely reasonable. The taiyaki were being made automatically by a machine, which added some batter and then custard. Since they were freshly made, they were extremely hot, but weren't anywhere as good as the ones I have had in Japan nor the ones I have had in Southern California at Somi Somi. Although the price was reasonable, I would pass on this treat and get something else from one of the other shops. Like all other places I visited in London they take contactless payment.

Quality/Quantity - Grabbed some assorted baked goods here. See picture. Freshly baked Taiyaki, see pictures. Sorry, we ate too fast so we only have a picture of the last one. Also, be careful because they are right off the grill and you can easily burn your mouth. Atmosphere - Small local chinese bakery. Thank you for the reminder about pickpockets, see picture. It is nice to be reminded every now and then to be alert, you would NOT want a bad experience to ruin your vacation. See SF Japantown review. Service - Mostly self service. Grab the pastries you want and bring it up to the register to get rung up. Price - Affordable. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success, from the looks of your place, I can tell you have been here a long time.

Freshly made breads, plenty of shoppers so everything is fresh. Many options from cakes to breads. Breads are ok, I wish they don't skim on stuffing/custards in the bread, barely has anything in it They have a warning of pickpocketing so be careful

Day Visited: Sunday, 10:30 am Price Range: £2-8 Parking: Limited parking, have to walk to get to bakery Ordered: BBQ pork buns, Pandan bun, Pandan mooncake This place was absolutely amazing. It opened at 10:30, and when we got there at 10:45, it was already pretty crowded in the area you get the pastries. Everything looked so good, but we got three items and it was the perfect breakfast for us. The BBQ pork buns had a depth of richness that were unlike anything we'd had before. Savory and filling, they were the perfect treat to start the morning. Followed by the Pandan bun, it was a great way to end the morning snack fest. The Pandan bun was sweet, light, fluffy, and balanced. Normally, flavored buns have a sugary, grainy texture in the filling. These buns did not suffer that same fate, as they were absolutely delicious! We saved the moon cake until we settled down and hands down was the best mooncake we've had! The dough itself was perfectly made, the filling wasn't too sweet, and finished the experience on an absolute high!

We came here twice to get the pandan bun and the sesame seed bun. I really enjoyed the buns a lot and they were still soft and fresh for breakfast the next morning. We also got the pandan sponge cake and it delicious as well. I also like that this bakery accepts credit card payments. I would come here once a week if I lived in London!

Lines are long but move very quickly. Taikyaki is fish shaped pastry and best eaten when made and still warm. These tasted okay. This isn't something I would get again.

This place was packed the two times we walked by it: once in the morning and once in the afternoon. We decided to chance it and try the line for the small taiyaki. You get 4 for 2.50, and can pay with card. The line went pretty fast. Treat is served right off the pan so beware, the custard is extra hot (little lava goodness). I then decided to chance it in the bakery line. I was amazed at how quickly and how organized the cashier's were. They make sure you're paying attention of you're next on line so that the people behind you are not waiting. Great, quick dessert to enjoy after a hearty meal in Chinatown.

Swirls are my thing. Price: £4.00 mixed. Tina's Tip: - You can get mini taiyaki's filled with red beans, custard, or Nutella 4 pieces for £2.00. - Go inside to see more and to pay. Get receipt and present to person in front to get your

I wandered into this bakery when I was in Chinatown and picked up a red bean mochi bun and Hong Kong milk tea. I drank the Hong Kong milk tea right away and it was the perfect blend of strong tea without being too sweet. I didn't try the red bean mochi bun until the next morning but it was good. I would recommend coming to this bakery for baked goods and delicious milk tea.

Service: 8/10 Food:10/10 Portion size: large Wait time: no wait I came upon this place by the good smell when I walked by! I'm also a sucker for matcha and ice cream! I got the melonpan bun with vanilla and match ice cream inside! I wished the bun was warm but when I took my first bite it exceeded my expectations! Therefore giving it 5 stars since it was good without the bun being warm! I also ate this in November and did not care how cold it was outside! That's how good it was! Service I gave an 8 because they weren't overly friendly like other places. I think it's just because they didnt speak English well.

When I entered Sweet I was greeted by the staff and quickly took in a few silver tables and several wooden tables with stools. I ordered a goat cheese pastry puff and cappuccino. I was a bit annoyed that rather than ring me up, allow me to sit down and bring me my cappuccino, I was made to stand and wait until my drink order was finished. As I sat down, there was a mini rush. I was glad to have a seat because Sweet wasn't meant to hold a large crowd. The goat cheese puff was good; with each bit I could taste the goat cheese, meaning there was lots of goat cheese, yummy. The puff also had large tomatoes and a bit of basil, which added a nice flavor. The crust was light and flaky and I am sure I would have enjoyed the puff even more if it had been served warm. The cappuccino was also very good, but had a bit too much foam and not enough liquid for my taste. I like just a bit of foam and lots of liquid, next time I will request it that way. Overall Sweet was not bad, I would visit again, but doubt that I'd make it my regular boulangerie.

My husband and I decided to try for a table and we ended up waiting about 45 min - 1 hour to sit. I love how the Arome workers help move the line along and help people in line find tables. Also speaking of Arome, the AROMA was fantastic! Everything was SO GOOD. All the pastries were amazing. I'm glad we got a mix of sweet and savory things. Everything we had was buttery, flaky, intentional, and made with love.
