I guess you can't go to London and not have a proper cream tea. Ladurée has a 16 GBP cream tea that includes a pot of tea, two small scones and two macrons. Everything was delicious. We sat outside on a sunny day in Covent Gardens in a lovely table clothed table, pretty teapots and cups and friendly service. Ladurée has one of the most reasonable cream teas. I'm glad I did it but believe unless you pay 70-80 GBP pp, you won't get the entire scone/sandwiches/sweets experience. I could have gone to Paul or any bakery and had tea with pastries for probably half the total cost. Yet, it's nice to say I tried the experience. read more

I arrived at their café on the outer side of Covet Garden. I was greeted softly by 3 employees and a beautifully filled pastry showcase. I asked shortly and specifically about the interior seating on the rooftop of the café. They immediately told me it was simply closed, despite no sign on the stairway. I asked why, and they simply said they only open it when it is really busy. I arrived just before lunchtime, so I imagined, "well, it is almost going to be lunch, and being London, it may rain any moment." However, I did not mention it further and asked where I could be seated. Much to my disliking, since I saw the forecast predicted some rain. I was eventually seated outside and under the umbrella. The seats were the signature green and L of Laduree. However, the floor, which is stone, was covered with water and puddles. I was handed a menu. Shortly after, was greeted by a waiter on what to order. The menu was beautiful and detailed/straightforward. The service could have been better, because after the initial ordering of food. The waiters simply disappeared, huddling behind the counters of the outer seating area, which I didn't really appreciate because when I needed to order some more, it was hard to catch their attention. Also, funny enough, It started to rain heavily, and people seated not under the umbrellas had to rush for cover. Was it like I predicted with outdoor seating? Perhaps. [Food]: I bought the cream tea [smaller than afternoon tea] with macaroons and an avocado salmon sandwich with fries. The sandwich was fresh, and the fries were not overly oily either. The salmon was the perfect texture with the avocado. The bread wasn't toasted, but it tasted solid and hearty. It was pretty flavourful and yummy, I didn't expect any less. The tea was cream tea. Just tea, scones, and macaroons. The scones were maybe 3cm in diameter, so pretty small. Also, since they were small, they were denser than usual. There were only 2, a plain one and one with sultanas (golden raisins, from what I can recall). The scones came with a small jar of jam, Laduree's own organic strawberry jam. For the macaroons, you can select your flavors. I added an additional macaroon since the cream tea only comes with 2. Macaroon flavors were Marie-Antoinette Tea (black tea with rose petals, citrus, and honey. It was a lovely charismatic blue dusted with tea leaves), Pistachio, and Rose (a nice deep pink). They were as perfect as they could be. It was not overly dry, had the perfect texture, and just a great delicate flavour. The Marie-Antoinette was definitely well balanced and the tea flavors were not overpowering, nor was the citrus. The cream tea was about £17 and the Salmon Avocado sandwich [not sure if it was the salmon avocado toast or the club salmon sandwich, £18-23]. Overall, it deserves the esteem and popularity, thanks to its food's high quality and beauty. In addition, to the aesthetics of the food and appearance. I highly recommend going to ladurée while in London. There are many stores throughout the states, however, I feel like this shop makes it feel more enjoyable! There is a good selection of macaroon flavors which made it a little difficult to decide. I got a dozen -- half in a bag (to-go) and half in a box. Unfortunately, if you get the macaroons in the box, there is an additional charge. Though, the boxes are super cute and hard to pass. The shop is really cute and the staff made me feel welcomed. I returned the following day before my flight home to purchase a couple more boxes of macaroons to gift as a souvenir. The macaroons were still very tasty even after a day of traveling! There was no line either of the times I've went which I was surprised because usually there's a long wait at Ladurée in the states! read more

I was a bit disappointed in my afternoon tea experience and the overall experience, I would give it another shot, but for something other than tea. The first issue is the atmosphere. There is a lovely outdoor seating area, but it was early winter and thus was very cold. The way the queue is set up, it has 1 side for sitting in the patio and one queue for indoor take-away. No where did it state that they have indoor, dine-in seating! I only realized this when I went to the bathroom and saw the beautiful (and near empty) indoor seating area upstairs - I would have much preferred to sit there. The tea options were standard probably about 6-10 options, honestly the tea doesn't stand out. The website does warn you - FRENCH afternoon tea, and while I loved the 2 macaroons (and variety of flavors to choose from) the scones were exceptionally disappointing. They were dense, an odd, slightly grainy texture, and small. This is definitely not where to go for scones. I don't doubt that the quality of the food and tea is high, but for the prices (and even with the French warning) it just wasn't worth it for a tea experience. read more

I am sitting at Ladurée. There was a woman smoking cigarettes at the table in front of us and it was blowing my way. It smelled horrendous. I don't want to smell smoke while eating my dessert. The manager happened to be walking by and I said, are they allowed to smoke at the table? He thought I asked if I could smoke, so he brought me an ash tray. I said, no, it's not that I don't want to smoke, it's that I can't handle her smoking and it blowing in my face. What a good manager would have done is say, ma'am, please step away from the tables to smoke and instead he told her that I personally couldn't handle the smoke. So, she stood away from the table staring at me while she smoked and every single person in her 6 person party turned around to stare at me and give me the evil eye and made me feel like a criminal. This is unacceptable. Smoking is gross gross gross. If someone has a problem with it, you shouldn't make them feel like a criminal for not being able to tolerate second hand smoke. NY finally got its first Laduree 2 years ago but with 45min wait times and expensive prices I have yet to try a macaron from the famous place. But when my bf and I were in London recently we accidentally stumbled upon their Covent Garden store and decided to try their famous confections. I love meringue in all forms and I love macarons. My bf knows this so he's brought home macarons from various places. I must admit Laduree's macarons are quite exceptional. Specifically their pistachio macaron is stellar. I don't usually like pistachio because the flavor comes off artificial but Laduree's is excellent. I also loved the cassis macaron and the marshmallow filled ones. Great place for a pre-performance dinner. Excellent menu and wine list although limited in selection. I had the "Vol au Vent" for dinner and it was excellent. The only negative part was the chicken pieces were to large as most "Vol au Vent" one tends to have small chicken cubes within the pastry timbal with the cream sauce added after serving. Came to the infamous Laduree cafe during my summer trip in London. This quaint location is inside the Convent Garden market which in itself is a much see attraction. With high end luxury shops and other shopping stores in the vicinity, it's a great location to spend the day or an afternoon. The day I went, there were street entertainers and families everywhere. I had an amazing time and I also enjoyed breakfast on the patio of Laduree, overlooking it all. The baked goods were to die for and the scrambled egg with smoked salmon was so good! The portion was larger than I expected so I obviously ordered a croissant as a side but it was all so good so no regrets there. As a man, I hate to admit that I love macarons as much as I do. I probably like these colorful girly snacks/desserts more so than my wife. It's the texture of the airy and light cookies that sandwich flavorful fillings that I'm addicted to. If you're not going to finish your macarons, I'd suggest a box (£12.80 for a box of 8). Otherwise, they're £1.60 each. Laduree boasts the best macaroons in town and from past experience of buying a box here and there I have always found them to be delicious. I had not yet though been for the full tea and macaroons evening so I was quite happy when my best friend suggested we go there for tea on my birthday. Being a total girl for a minute, I am a huge sucker for pastel tea cups, vintage decor and pretty colourful sweets. Laduree checks all of the above with the added bonus of it all being French and delicate. Fittingly, their signature tea and macaroon flavour are called Marie Antoinette. So while you let them have cake you can get down to eating all of the yummy macaroons. The Marie Antoinette tea's main flavours are citrus and rose with a honey aftertaste. It's a strange taste at first but you get used to it and by the end you will me up loving it. The corresponding macaroon is more caramel and vanilla based so in my opinion the rose flavoured one is a much better match and my personal favourite. There is certainly a difference in flavour when you have the macaroons at the venue instead of buying the boxes. They did taste very fresh and even yummier than usually if that is even possible. Basically if you're looking for a girly afternoon with your friends you should go there. read more

Nice place to try once but not the best for afternoon tea. I give the food 4.5 stars but the service and atmosphere 4 stars. It was difficult to get the check because after we finished eating, we were left alone for a long period of time, but before that the service was more tentative. Overall the service is very friendly. The food was very good but very expensive for what it was. I'm not well versed in tea so I did not particularly enjoy the tea. The best part was my dessert. The macaron was the perfect texture with a crispy shell on the outside and soft on the inside, complimented perfectly with strawberries and raspberries. The size was perfect for two people. Don't get seated near the restroom! The door is extremely disruptive and annoying because it slams shut everything someone opens or closes it. Worst part of the whole experience. Ladurée changed my opinion about macarons. I used to dislike macarons because they are dry and overly sweet. Then I went to Ladurée (in NYC) and realize the ones I had before were just poorly made macarons. But in Ladurée, the flavours and textures are lovely. They are still pretty sweet but it's in a more delicate and complex way that's actually enjoyable. Came here for the afternoon tea set on the terrace and that wasn't a great idea on a winter day. It was a bit too cold, and the sun was glaring into my eyes. The service was quite slow, and like many yelpers mentioned it could be a bit more friendly. While the desserts are lovely, it was just too much sugar to consume in one sitting. I'd come back here for the macarons but not the tea. read more

It was perfectly complex with the black tea infusion, rose petal, honey and citrus notes that intrigued my pallet! This is a must stop in my travels and I have enjoyed this flavor the most. I also visited the Harrod's location but it tasted like it was sitting out for too long and the pastry was more crunchy than soft and pillowy. She managed to get us a table on the terrace with less than 5 minutes of waiting on a Friday afternoon. Brilliant! Love their macarons of course. I had the caramel and pistachio macarons with fresh grapefruit juice. On another day I would have had a coffee but it was a particularly hot (and rare) summer day so I was surviving on a potion of iced water and juice. The pistachio macaron was yummy. Ladurée is a popular macaron chain establishment with many locations worldwide. This has to be one of my favorite locations due to : 1. Location-This place has been open for many years and is just as busy as when it first opened (at least every time I visit. I love this location because you can people watch and see the street performers out front. 2. Seating - Not all Ladurée locations worldwide have a cafe but this one does. The seating is limited but very Parisian and cute. 3. Decor - The decor is very cute and perfect if you have a young daughter. She would love it 4. Sentimental - This was actually the first Ladurée store I ever visited when I was younger so it holds a sentimental place in my heart. 5. Food - Truthfully I only like their macaroons and not much of anything else on their menu. Particularly I like their pistachio macaron. But their other deserts are quite pretty and popular so for sure try them at least once. Cons: 1. If you order macaroons from downstairs and try to eat them in the restaurant they offer, they will charge you an extra .50p. Ugh! 2. Renovation is highly needed. 3. Small location- My husband and I visited the cafe and he felt like he was in a doll house. Everything felt smaller to him (ceiling height, space, furniture) so he felt very cramped. He has to turn sideways due to his shoulders being too wide and even at our table count fit his legs under the table so he put them on the sides (like he had the table in an abductor press lol) This might be an issue if you have a guy with you :p. Also in the winter there isn't a lot of place to put your coat and scarves in addition to your purse. Still one of my favorite Laduree locations. Def stop by! read more

I indulged my inner fat kid and bought a set of seven macarons. Each bite drew me closer to heaven, I swear! I highly highly highly recommend the salted caramel macaron. There is a massive selection of delicious macaroons, and the little gift boxes make a great present. It is a little on the pricey side, but I think it's worth it! I've been a loyal Laduree customer for years and years. This is the most horrible one I've ever come across, and i truly believe it has gone down hill. I'm not sure if it's Bc it's in such a touristy location, so maybe they can get away with poor service and unprofessional attitudes and mediocre products, but do not come here! I popped into the shop, with a simple and quick order of 2 boxes. The girls behind the counter looked messy and tired, didn't look polished or friendly. They got my order together, no frills, no fuss, which was totally fine. The credit card machine was down, after 10 min of trying to fix it they reclaimed my macarons and said to go out into the Cold and wait in the eating area. Upstairs was full. Upon going outside, the man was annoying and got my order wrong. He was hasty and gave me a dirty cup and brought out hot chocolate instead of coffee. He was also frustrated that I had a baby stroller which wasn't inconveniencing anyone but himself. He made me take the stroller around the ways on the cobblestone which woke my baby up, everyone knows this is the most annoying thing that could possibly happen when trying to have a quick break. read more

All I can say is this place is AMAZING. They have an endless selection of macaroons and desserts that will leave you wanting more. Their prices are fair and their service is quick! The tea room on the second floor is first come first serve so it is very hard to get a table for a large number of people during prime tea hours. I was ECSTATIC to learn that Laduree would open in Covent Garden when I was studying abroad. Afterall, they're the originator of the macaron! Although they're quite pricey, the macarons are always a lovely treat to enjoy in moderation. Perfect texture, color, and taste (not too sweet or artificial). They're probably the best I've had, and I couldn't not bring them back to the States for my mom to try. My flat mate, who didn't initially like macarons, was converted in part thanks to Laduree! :) I've also tried the eclairs, which were also delicious (not too sweet, stiff or soggy) and had gold specks! The location is perfect (in the midst of shops and hustle and bustle) and the interior, although small, is just gorgeous. It's really a quaint, cute place. The service was also friendly and polite, and I never really felt rushed even when there was a line. Too bad there aren't any Ladurees in the States, but I guess it's another reason for me to go back to Europe! read more

My friends and I visited UK back in September and both of them really want to try out the afternoon tea, therefore, we went to Laduree to try out the its afternoon tea. We ordered 3 different types of afternoon teas (finger food, cake, and macaroons) and the waiter messed up our order 3 times..... They gave us the wrong amount of finger food, wrong flavor of cakes and macaroons..... Not sure what was the reason. Personally I think their dessert it's more on a sweeter side (way too sweet for my friends (both girls are big sweet tooth and still too sweet for them) and I). Landed at this place on a chilly February weekend evening for after dinner coffee and dessert. This place was packed and we had to wait 20-25 mins as we did not have a reservation. They had some outside seating with heaters, but the seating was cramped and close together. We got an inside table which was much better. Still this place offers more seating than the other Laduree location in London. It's cute and quaint place with good service. Their macaroons and desserts were fresh, coffee and hot chocolate were extraordinaire. Tried their Rose, pistachio and passion fruit macaroons - all were great. Their flavors are endless.
