I had the iced matcha cloud with raspberry syrup. Quality matcha powder used *and* the added fruit sweetener (raspberry here) is subtle but still tasteful actually complementing well with the matcha (unlike fruit sweetener that tastes like straight jam overpowering the whole drink.....). A matcha drink that actually makes sense lol. I also tried the iced Japanese cold brew. Pretty strong in brew taste but still smooth! Polite barista. We've gone here twice now and both times have been pretty great! We really enjoy their croissants sandwich. The one we have had has a delicious and flaky seeded croissant and it has a really nice portion of cream cheese and prosciutto and arugula. It's really savory. I ordered a latte on both visits. The art on it is very nice, but it also tastes as good as it looks! It's smooth and creamy and the perfect temperature to enjoy it right away. The cappuccino my brother ordered also looked pretty good. The staff working here are really friendly and welcoming as well. She was very attentive and asked us if everything was good and if we needed anything else. Unfortunately, we're just visiting the country, but would definitely love to come back to this cafe in the future! read more

Been here a couple of times and their coffee is very good. Last 2 times I had a matcha latte which was great. I also tried their pistachio protein ball yesterday - excellent! And I shared a cheeky gluten free salted caramel brownie. I think there is a brownie genius that makes these and sells them to independent coffee shops around town, bc I swear I've had it before. The staff was friendly but tad patronising. When I ordered my tea and pastry, she shared with me some expert knowledge about teas (I didn't ask), which I don't recall in detail now. She also suggested, as she was bringing me the drinks, that I drink the tea as is first, before I pour the milk. My tea was served in a small tea pot, basically just enough for a small mug. And they gave me a glass cup. I'm not a connoisseur but I know serving hot drinks in glass is silly. It's too hot. Also, there is no Wifi. The only way this coffee shop can justify its existence is, if their coffees taste really good. (and not served in glassware.) I shall find out next time. read more

Cute little cafe tucked away in Angel. Good coffee, nice decor, and friendly staff. So far so good. Price wise, very expensive compared to other local cafes. For a tiny flat white, it came to over 3 pounds, which I thought was a little excessive. Food wise, although I didn't try any, all cakes and pastries looked lovely. Reasonably priced and when I'm back again, will definitely sample some. All in all, it's a higher end coffee shop and probably best reserved for after pay day. read more

The coffee was fresh, strong and delicious. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and the decor is cozy and welcoming.

Fantastic coffee and a really nice vibe. I'm a lover of flat whites and the ones here are fantastic. Really love the geometric themed décor, brick walls and wooden tables. Ticks all the hipster boxes for me. Cakes are also great here. I found the chocolate brownie particularly yummy. You can also buy coffee to take away if you want. A wonderful retreat hidden away from the hustle of Angel high-street, well worth the wander. Pros: As above and free Wi-Fi, staff are lovely, it's quiet so easy to talk to people. Cons: jitters. Also quite small, so you're not guaranteed a table. read more

I really like Saint Espresso. It's located on Pentonville Road just a stone's throw from Angel station, but slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Upper Street. First and foremost, their coffee is excellent. Quite possibly my favorite coffee in London at present. I've been a number of times, and the flat white is always perfectly executed. I'm yet to dabble in their food options, but they offer an array of pastries, cakes and sandwiches which all look quite tasty. The staff is friendly and chipper (not overly chipper in an obnoxious way, but a pleasant sort of chipper). All in all, Saint Espresso leaves nothing to be desired in my view (hence the 5 stars). I'm not really the type to do work in coffee shops so I can't fully speak to the wifi capabilities etc, but I think Saint would be a nice place to post up all day. It's fairly quiet, has an open feel with high ceilings, although there's somewhat limited seating options (probably a total of 5 or 6 tables). I get the sense Saint Espresso is a well-kept secret since it's generally pretty quiet and only opened about a month or so ago. Definitely worth checking out! read more

I wanted to stop by for 45 minutes on a Sunday to try their coffee, hang out in their serene space, and get one work thing done. First and second objectives, check, but I had to tuck in at the end of a communal table because it was literally the only seat available. And when I asked (politely, I thought) about WiFi, one of the employees just said, dismissively, "No Wifi" and turned away. Look, I get that a small coffee shop doesn't want people monopolizing its minimal seating, especially when it's as nice a space as this one. But in this day and age, I just kind of expect to have connectivity, even if only for 15 minutes. (Also, Yelp led me astray by claiming that the shop had WiFi, so shame on you, previous reviewers.) Anyway, if you want a super cute, bright, and comfortable place to have a very good espresso or filter coffee and maybe talk to a friend or read, this is it. If you need to camp out with space and WiFi, you should probably find a bigger shop or coworking space. read more

It's really hard to impress these days with coffee in London. However, there are pockets where this is still possible. And one of those is in Angel. And one of those places is Saint Espresso. So, I tend to review coffee places around where I work, and this time round, in my fourth location in London in as many years, I find myself reviewing another coffee place near work. There are now two locations for good coffee within a stones throw of the Angel Tube, one is Coffeeworks Project and the other is undoubtedly this place, Saint Espresso. Hidding in a rather non-descript row of shops just west of the tube is this new, and rather swanky shop, serving antipodean style coffee. Little shots of delicious goodness. This is my afternoon go to place and my happy place. Friendly staff, good coffee and tasty treats make this place a definite winner and a great impressive one at that for the Angel area. :) 5*s!! read more

Not impressed. Got a long black and green tea matcha latte takeaway after visiting 221b. They only have 8 oz., but prices were what you'd expect for at least a 12. The green tea latte wasn't even hot, lukewarm at best. Skip this and go to another coffee bar! read more

My husband has tried to mind control me into visiting Saint Espresso for four months and I have resisted wholeheartedly because they don't have wifi and that just seems like a sin to me (but I understand why). Saint Espresso is a small coffee shop located on a busy road though the cute decor makes you forget that just a few feet away is one of the busiest roads in London. There are only a few tables in this tiny shop but if you visit off-peak, you should have no issues finding anywhere to sit, after all, they don't offer wifi, so there are no loiterers like myself pounding away on laptops. I ordered a cappuccino accompanied by a caramel and sea salt brownie. Both were delicious. The brownie was easily the best brownie I've eaten outside of the US. It was super moist, almost like a really moist piece of fudge and deliciously chocolatey. My cappuccino was tasty but nothing over-the-top. It hit the spot that sunny Sunday afternoon. I like Saint Espresso. I'd like it more if they offered wifi and were in a slightly better location (sort of a pain to get to/from on a bike). Note: There are four bike stands at the end of the block towards Angel station, just a short walk from the shop. read more

Light industrial coffee shop. Would be great space for working except no power points or free wifi. Coffee was good. Also had a toasted focaccia with a really yummy pesto. They also had a temping display of pasties and other sweet goods. Loved the floor to ceiling Windows and black piping for the electrical wiring. This is my favorite place for a flat white in London. It's smooth and has a nice bitter finish. I've had the croissant with prosciutto and cheese, which came toasted. The croissant was a nice savory breakfast. I had it in the cafe and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The carrot muffin makes a great snack. Lovely small bright coffee shop with good tunes in the background where they take their coffee very seriously. Such a nice haven in that part of Angel where there was nothing before. Not that many tables though (note: small in the first sentence!). They have good eats (can you say St. John's donuts in this neck of the woods--dangerous!) but the only "food" besides sweets are very cheesy toasties so there are no salads or healthy options if you want a non 1000 calorie option. read more

I drink a lot of coffee on a good day, and on a really jet-lagged day, I'm likely caffeinated at unsafe levels. So, having spent several of these days in the neighborhood, I've sampled quite a bit of espresso from various shops. The espresso and espresso drinks here are very good (best in the neighborhood) and it seems like the folks care about what they are doing. Also the staff is super friendly. Very positive vibes. Sitting on the bus drinking my Saint Espresso Latte. I like my coffee smooth and this is perfect. Just the right temperature and texture. A little on the small side for the price but I believe in quality over quantity. I have to deduct a star though because the same jug was used to heat my milk as was used to heat almond milk for the customer before me. Saint is a fine addition to the high-end London coffee scene. As a regular at Leya's and Notes, I am not easily impressed, but this lovely new place succeeded. Both the espresso and coffee drinks were outstanding, and the atmosphere was laid-back but stylish. I particularly enjoyed the neo-Shaker chairs (a nice adaption on what my wife calls "that wooden furniture that every coffeeshop you like seems to have"), the lighting set-up, and the glass wall that keeps the place from being too dark and shadowy. The only detraction was that the owner/operator, who was otherwise extremely friendly and welcoming, fiddled with his phone for a good 30 sec. while we were waiting at the counter for service--bad business etiquette, that, and at least an "I'm sorry about that" would have seemed appropriate. But, nobody is perfect, and I look forward to my next excellent cup at this sacred new spot. read more

I discovered Saint Espresso by a chance encounter as I was walking from a nearby hotel on my way to Angel tube station. Love, love, LOVE the coffee! I had the pleasure to try their espresso and, cappuccino which packed a punch and provided the jolt I was looking for early in the morning. In an area where there is surprisingly not so many great coffee shops, St Espresso might be the best option around, and probably one of the best places in the North East of London to grab a perfect cup, especially where you're more into the light roast and the complex acidity. Don't hesitate to order a pastry to go along with your Alchemy coffee, there's a wide range of nice baked goods like this outstanding pear danish, which is worthy a visit on its own. Only exception : try to avoid the green matcha white chocolate cake, except if you have a really really sweet tooth. The design is a perfect combination of minimalism and industrial chic, playing with the contrast between black and white tints... Like the coffee menu actually. Simple and lovely at the same time. I guess that three small tables, one medium-size communal table and zero wifi won't help you to chill out there for a while, but for a quick fix, let this guardian Angel-located of Saint Espresso take care of you. You shoudn't be disappointed under its heavenly watch. read more

One of several independent coffee shops in the area and to be honest, you might want to head down the road to any of the others. This one has the loudest traffic noise, the smallest space and by far the worst service (a sort of "too cool to give you what you asked for"). I was particularly annoyed that they wanted to charge me nearly double for having a half-caffeinated latte, when the prices are already exaggeratedly high. They said they had to do this because of technical difficulties - ridiculous for a pretentious joint because even Starbucks can do this. Walk into Upper Street or down to Exmouth Market or Old Street instead. read more
