Look at that yoke (Society Benedict £12.5)
Jolene P.

Ahhhhh, where to start? This place is amazing, great food, friendly service, and good vibe. The menu is filled with interesting options i would say British with a gastro flare. If you are going for brunch or breakfast please do yourself a favor and try the society Benedict; 2 poached eggs perfectly sitting on top of fluffy and toasted English Muffins sandwiched between this is avocado English bacon and the star of the show, perfectly cooked lobster, the running yoke and hollandaise sauce make this an experience. The prices are standard for the city but for the quality I say much better.

Pastries galore!

Paul Rhodes Bakery was conveniently located between the Airbnb my friends and I were staying at and the bus stop, making it the perfect place for morning coffee and pastries. Their lattes were rich and smooth, which I loved; and our group was a big fan of both the sausage and ham pastries! The staff was kind and helpful, answering any questions we had. At the end of our trip, I bought one of their tote bags with "bag for loaf" printed on it. It made for a great souvenir and is the perfect bag for grocery shopping.

When in London I always loved stopping in here, usually for a coffee and a croissant and on my way out the door I'd get whichever loaf of bread caught my eye. Everything is always fresh and yummy. Staff are very friendly and it was always a great spot to visit.

We were lucky enough to have a flat around the corner from this gem while we visited London. We stopped here each morning for coffee and breakfast before we headed for the tube. Coffee was perfect and there were so many pastry options to choose from. The staff were so kind and nice to us each day. The place was always packed (but that's always a good sign) so it may be hard to find a spot to sit and relax with your morning coffee. For those on the go, like us, it was perfect.

Mushroom and cheese bread

Average experience near Kensington. We went in the morning before an early flight and it was alright. We ordered the mushroom and cheese bread and a ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was barely warmed and the bread was still cold after being in the warmer. I'm not sure if they had been frozen prior or if the oven wasn't working but they were essentially room temperature if not colder. The lattes were good but for the price it was not worth it for the sandwiches. I'd skip it and hit up another bakery for sandwiches if that's what you're after. They do have free WiFi though.

What can I say about Paul Rhodes Bakery? I thank Heaven that I found it!! Just down the street from me in Notting Hill, and right around the corner, this little slice of Heaven appeared to me! How can you not see it (or smell it) as you walk by? With all of its yummy breads just hanging out in displays by the window......the smell of bread and pastries cooking.....ahhhhhhhh.......Pure Heaven! I swear I can hear them beckoning me to come in and eat them....LOL! Pastries, breads, cakes, pies, coffee, tea......how could you not want to stay and have a bit or take away so that you can indulge in pure luxury in the comfort of your own home? The customer service is fantastic as well! Some of the nicest people work here and are so helpful! Smiles all around! You have to try their cheesecake and their tarts! The bread is so fresh and yummy and the coffee, I think, is way better than Starbucks! I've gone back a few times now and am NEVER disappointed! I give this place a two thumbs up and will recommend it to all of my friends and family! I just wish that they were in the States!

Cute, fresh, and tasty! Having all the pastries exposed to people is a little worry-some, but the taste and service makes-up, and we have not had a bad experience yet! It has made our morning visit during our vacation a great start to our London day!

I really want to love Paul Rhodes, as it's within walking distance of my flat, but I've been several times since moving to London and I've been less impressed each time. The shop itself is nothing special, which is surprising since the first thing you see when you walk in is this sprawling array of breads/pastries (quite unlike any other display I've seen) but past that, it's average in every way. Service is fine, the staff are pleasant but it seems like it takes a while to get coffee, especially when eating in. I haven't tried anything from the bakery, which could be a redeeming factor. The coffee is also just 'fine' - after trying both a hot and iced latte, I'm pretty content to go elsewhere for better coffee and a better atmosphere.

Tired and hungry after early flight I decided to treat myself with a long breakfast. Having passed by Paul Rhodes' bakery countless times It was about time to give it a go. Starting off with some delightful, warm buttered bagels (they kindly asked if I want them heated) I moved on to a scone, croissant and chelsea bun. Everything was aromatic and delicious, exactly what you expect the baked goods to be. The food alone gets the place a 5 but its worth mentioning that the interior and service was not behind at all.

We were looking for a good coffee shop after a long day touring, found this gem at the end of Kensington Palace at notting hill.

Popped in for a cup of coffee and a small breakfast bite. This place is a gem! They have an assortment of mini pastries here and they also feature Union hand-roasted coffee here (yum)!!! I also like the seating area tucked away in the back of the bakery, a perfect spot to enjoy your drink and chat with your friend on a leisurely day. Give this place a try!

Paul Rhodes Bakery, Notting Hill Gate

Conveniently located on the corner of Notting Hill Gate & Linden Gardens, this bakery opened in July 2010. This used to be the old Marsh & Parsons office, but when they moved, I wondered what we'd end up getting on the high street. When I read a letter notifying that the premises was going to be a Paul Rhodes Bakery and looking it up on the internet, I was counting down the days to taste their delights. Bakeries are my weakness, I love anything sweet like cakes :-) Inside the decor is modern, you can buy from a selection of fresh bread, pastries and cakes. I bought a medium slice of pizza and a warm croissant, both delicious, my boss had one of their sandwichs, but although he conceded it was a little pricey, he said it was delicious. Although there isn't much space for sitting inside, the premises has been cleverly designed with a small mezzanine level where there are a few tables and chairs, and outside on the street there are a few tables. The only downside is that it can take a while to get served, it's not the best in terms of service, but it's certainly a yummy place to go to if you live in the area.

A great selection of breads, pastries and sandwiches that look quite appealing. Slow service though! I finished half of my food before they made my hot chocolate :-/

Classic French sandwich place and I can't believe there isn't a crowd. We went back to try the pastry and that was equally as good.

Having found myself in a need of some good study spot I followed Googles suggestions which landed…read moreme eventually in Coffee Plant. Convenient location within walking distance and next to Fabrique Bakery definitely helped, too. After good bread breakfast I needed just good coffee, a decent table and time. Coffee Plant provided all of the above topped with nice, relaxed vibe. I have not tried any of the snacks yet but the white coffee I had felt rather good. This will most likely be updated after I revisit - which will probably happen quite soon!

A very underwhelming experience. This was a highly rated coffee place near Portobello Road Market…read more I went there with my family members and we ordered two single shot espressos and one latte. The service was quick but lacklustre. The espresso drinks were not strong and tasted like they had been watered down. The latte was okay. Not very memorable but okay. However, what threw me off the most was the dirty saucer that was given to me along with the cup. There were old bits of coffee grounds on the saucer which stuck to my cup. It was kind of nasty and distracted me from enjoying the coffee. The baristas also seemed bored and distracted. One of them was sitting on the floor after he was done making my drink and he was just itching his hair. I was hoping he washed his hands before making my drink but I wouldn't count on it. My brother asked about their coffee deal, half off for a bag of coffee. They told him it was an old deal since COVID and they hadn't taken it off the board behind them. What a sad coffee place.

02/2026 Just a quick…read morenote upfront: there are several places around the UK (and beyond) called "The Orangery" - from restaurants in hotels to other historic venues - but none of them are affiliated with each other. This review is specifically for the historic one at Kensington Palace, the beautiful baroque building in the palace gardens. I recently had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea here, and it was everything I hoped for and more - a perfect blend of elegance, history, and warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, our host Denis made us feel incredibly welcome. First and foremost, I have to say he has a great first name - it's the same as mine (Dennis/Denis), which gave us an instant connection and a good laugh! He was exceptionally accommodating, giving us plenty of choice over where to sit and checking in on us multiple times throughout the afternoon with genuine friendliness and care. His attention to detail really elevated the whole experience. Our waiter, Mustafa, was nothing short of amazing. He handled our dietary needs with ease - accommodating gluten-free and vegetarian options without any fuss - and even split the afternoon tea accordingly so we could both enjoy it fully. The food itself was lovely, but the standout for me was the tea selection. I tried several varieties: peppermint, masala chai, vanilla chai, and classic English breakfast. The staff were happy to bring different teas or extra hot water whenever we asked, and don't forget to add sugar and milk for that perfect personal touch - it made all the difference. The setting is stunning, with the historic Orangery building and views of the Kensington Palace gardens creating a truly relaxing and regal atmosphere. Every moment felt unhurried and enjoyable; it was the ideal way to spend a peaceful afternoon. Huge thanks to Denis and Mustafa for their outstanding service - they made what could have been a standard tea into something truly memorable. Highly recommend booking ahead (it's popular!), and if you get the chance, ask for these two legends. We'll definitely be back!

When planning my trip to the UK, afternoon tea was at the top of my list. I enjoy it in the States…read moreand wanted to have the opportunity to sip and savor in the place it originated. We thought The Orangery would be the ideal spot as it sits right by the Kensington Palace. My group made reservations, which are encouraged. When we arrived there were ample seats both inside and outside. The interior is white, simple, clean, and bright. A bit bleak on the eye. We chose to sit outside to get some sun, people watch, and enjoy being by the gardens. All of the staff took great care of us, checked on my dietary restrictions, came by numerous times, and were kind and courteous. Now for the afternoon tea, we got the Afternoon Tea and the Vegan Afternoon Tea. I am dairy free so the vegan one was for me, but I eat certain meats so we did share and sample each other's. To start, the presentation was fine, nothing spectacular. The portions were plentiful as I could only eat the finger sandwiches and half of one scone, I saved the rest. I only expected more but found all of the sandwiches to be pretty neutral. I wish there were more seasoning, filling, and the bread wasn't as dry as it was. The scone was good with the provided preserves. When I did have the sweets they were all good, the fruit ones being my favorite. For tea, I chose the Organic Darjeeling. It came out to about three cups and was light and delicate. We left full! Kensington Palace is iconic in itself. If you want to pretend you're a royal or are visiting the area, The Orangery is an option. Honestly, I wouldn't come for their tea as I thought it was just okay. I would recommend going somewhere else, but I'm glad to check this off my bucket list!
