    Matcha taiyaki ice cream

This was actually my first time eating a taiyaki and let me just say this did not disappoint! The fish cone I got was just fresh out of the machine so that made it even better the ice cream itself was pretty good but nothing to rave about. Bake also has a variety of baked goods and the prices are quite reasonable. Definitely a must try if you're in Chinatown, London!!

We stopped by to check out the cute animal cakes. I ordered the custard filled fish cake and it was so addicting. I love custard. To order this, you have to pay at the register first. It's a good deal and they are made fresh to order!

This place is located right by one of the Chinatown gates. We came here solely for the mixed vanilla and green tea taiyaki ice cream. Immediately as we left the store, mine was quickly dripping through the cone, making it a bit messy.

I was pretty happy when I found out their is another cool asian bakery in town! This one opened in February and was perfect for my dessert craving of the day. Facing the window you can try those tiny cute fish waffles called taiyaki. They are actually in between waffle and french chouquettes, as they are empty inside. You should eat them on the spot, it's better hot. You can also try one of the buns, rolls or cakes that the shop has. The black sesame swirl is gorgeous. The coconut bun is nice as well but doesn't have a strong taste. I'm gonna try it cut in half with some kaya (coconut jam), it should be perfect. The pork benito teriyaki bun was good but I didn't really taste the teriyaki in it and the ham bits were too big and not enough integrated to the dough. Also it coast me £7,5 for all of it. The taiyaki also come in big size and you can stuff them with ice-cream if I'm correct. So here is my excuse to go back there and try it!

Before coming to London, I saw this place on a dessert list on Pinterest and immediately bookmarked it and knew I HAD to visit it. The first time I actually passed it without even knowing but saw that it was packed and the line was out the door. I was hoping if I came back in a few hours the crowd would die down. Around 6pm I went again and the store was packed but at this point there was no line out the door. I knew I wanted the egg waffles and my cousins wanted the Taiyaki. Boy the wait was worth it!!! I had my egg waffles with Nutella and vanilla and matcha ice cream it was not shockingly sweet so I was able to finish the whole thing (in about 6 minutes because it was so good)!! The taiyaki cones were delicious as well. I understand why people rave about this place because it's well worth the wait. I took off one star only because the line could be a little more organized and the staff should try their best to enforce a better line control policy.

Really enjoyed the match taiyaki ice cream! Ice cream had good match flavor and the taiyaki crispier than expected!

The quality of bread here simply can't compare to all of the other bakeries nearby. I got a taro filled bun, and was disappointed to find that the inside was mostly air. It also tasted a little stale, so I had to microwave it. The bread looked very big, but was actually probably only half the size without the air inside. I'd rather go to one of the many other bakeries in the Chinatown area.

Not warm...would have been better if made to order

I was really excited to try this place! Especially with the cute taiyaki that come with a custard filling. The price for taiyaki was reasonable. However, upon first bite...COLD :( I think they advertise as the taiyaki as being "freshly" made. This is untrue. The taiyaki are made en masse then stored in this oven type contraption, but clearly doesn't work as the items were cold. Disappointed.

    Sesame Pastry - don't believe that (v)!

Vegetarians beware (warning also to anyone who is averse to inadvertently eating pork). The Sesame Pastry, sold as "vegetarian" contains a slice of bacon. I asked a member of staff what was in the Sesame Pastry, and she listed vegetable ingredients. To confirm, I asked her if there was any meat in the item, and she replied "no, it's suitable for vegetarians". I purchased the item, and when I bit into it, I discovered that it contained a slice of bacon (pictured).

I had a green tea cupcake. It was good but nothing special. I prefer Chinatown Bakery to this one.

Arome produced pastries both beautiful and divine!…read more On the recommendation of friends, we made a stop by here for a Monday breakfast. According to their website, they deliver "European excellence with Asian flair" which is really a great way to describe their pastries and the experience! Definitely the quality that you would expect with some of those Asian flavors. Here is what we tried: Chocolate Pistachio Escargot (5/5): Shaped in a snail shell, in between the flaky layers of pastry were luscious chocolate sprinkled with pistachio for nutty texture. Really enjoyed this one! Honey Butter Toast (4/5): Touted as their signature, I had high expectations for this. It is exactly as described which that slightly sweetness from the honey in a perfectly toasted milk bread. I did enjoy this a lot but also felt like it would benefit by having something else for texture or contrast. Chicken Butter Croissant (4/5): The croissant had the nice flaky layer with chewy interior. I loved the savory chicken sausage with the slightly sweet soy glaze that provided nice contrast and that Asian twist. When we got there a little after opening, there was no line but all the seats were taken as the place is quite limited on seats. While we were asked to wait for a little a bit outside, we did not have to wait too long. However, the line did end up getting longer as we were leaving and some ended up eating outside. Overall, if you are interested in tasting some tasty pastries, I would recommend Arome!

The chicken hotdog croissant was my absolute favorite. 10/10 Even though they have a line sometimes the service is really quick and they do a good job of getting everyone through. It's a small place with intimate setting.

Mmmmm......Donuts! (Said in the voice of Homer Simpson.)…read more They do donuts so righteous here. As we were walking around Borough Market we saw the line for Bread Ahead and realized it was for the donut stand they had outside along the street. We had to jump on line and drool over the display of sugary goodness. We each tried a different donut and was not disappointed! So many varieties to choose from - coconut, lemon curd, blackcurrant cheesecake, seasalt caramel and honeycomb, and others. They don't skimp on the fillings as each bite was flavorful. Yum!

I'd reccomend checking out the bakery as this is where the fresh goodies are made and you're more likely to get the fresh batch here. Price wise, it's a bit steep. At 5£ per donut and 6.50£ for a piece of focaccia. But you're in a tourist area so high prices should be expected. We opted for the cheese focaccia that came right out from the oven. For 6£, it's not bad. It's pretty sizable and a good shareable snack! It's a good crusty bread and had a subtle garlic flavor with a blend of stringy cheese. If you like cheesy garlic bread, this is for you! Out of all the snacks you could get in the borough market, this is a solid option! But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
