We ordered to go from China Town our first night of vacation. We ordered sesame chicken and sweet/sour chicken. Both came with an egg roll and fried rice. The egg roll was excellent. My wife called in an order and wanted to pay over the phone. When she asked for the total, she was just told no. When I went to pick up our order, she insisted one of the entrees was never ordered. It took me 5 minutes from there to convince her I'll pay for it, but we needed that entree. This was some of the worst service I've had in a long time. read more

I didn't check the reviews and am kicking myself. From the get go this restaurant was bad. The woman behind the counter didn't acknowledge us other than to ask what we wanted. She never looked at us as we placed our order. Everyone has a bad day so we put her demeanor down as just that, a tough day. We ordered crab rangoon, teriyaki beef sticks and a large shrimp lo mein. Nothing difficult. Nothing they haven't made a million times. What we got was fried wantons with teriyaki beef inside. The wrong item, overcooked. Excessively dry teriyaki beef sticks we couldn't eat and the quart of well aged lo mein boasting approximately 8 very small shrimp. Bottom line, wrong order, overcooked and underwhelming. If you insist on trying your luck here ask for a pen and mark your selections yourself on their menu. I'd just go elsewhere. read more

Went for carry out. Place was clean but you can tell they are struggling with the covid closures and it's effect on businesses. They revived at 100.0%!on their health inspection in March 24. The food was prepared as promised it was hot and flavorful. No complaints at all. read more

Guys, don't come here. Not trying to be harsh, but seriously please save your money. I know this is one of the only places open, but keep driving and just go to Waves Market & deli. They'll be open. As another alternative, Food Lion is right there. Or Dough Shack down the street. Really bad food. It was just bad. We had: Orange chicken Sesame chicken Sweet & sour pork Crab Rangoon The pork was the most edible thing. Chicken tasted old and microwaved. Crab Rangoon was also really bad. I have tried multiple times and am marginal on this restaurant. I moved from the Atlanta area and had some of the best Chinese food. Their hot and sour soup is watered down, no tofu, thin broth. Filled with cut dragon peppers. They skimp on the fried crunchy toppers. The same with their kung pao chicken, cut dragons. if you like spice ok, I prefer to pull out the whole dragon pepper. So tonight I tried their shrimp fried rice and the rice was under cooked. It was crunchy I might try one more entrée before declaring it not edible. Ordered a bunch of dishes on one of our last evenings in OBX. Being from the Philadelphia/ New York area, we have a large selection of really good Chinese restaurants. Id say this one is about average - not great, not bad. I'd order again if I was in the area. Definitely was a fun self-made buffet style meal. read more

This place is a typical, average, run-of-the-mill, Chinese restaurant and take-out. We did not dine at the restaurant. It was closed due to COVID-19. We ordered take out. We had the Orange Chicken, some dumplings, and the Vegetable Lo Mein. The meals were of an acceptable quality. I found the Orange Chicken a little bit greasy, but tastefully spicy. The Lo Mein was pretty much the same you would have at any Chinese restaurant. The meat inside the dumplings had a strong taste of a mix of condiments. Prices are very reasonable. We paid roughly $35 for four meals. The place is very clean (100% A-rating), the service is fast, and the people who work there are very nice and polite. Been frequenting the restaurant for over 10 years. Never eaten the buffet but they are not my thing anyway. Got a order of soup some shrimp fried rice and Kung pay chicken. Ordered by phone and the gil was cheerful friendly and courteous. She took the effort to point out king paper has peanuts and if I had allergies which is a nice touch. Order was ready in 13 minutes and due to corona virus it was delivered to the door and they practiced proper social distancing and PPE use. Food was hot and delicious. Our family loves Chinese food and were excited to find this restaurant while visiting Rodanthe for the first time. However, our experience was not so great. We ordered to go since it was evening and there was a house full of hungry people waiting. The portion sizes in the takeout were small - especially for the price. Part of my daughter's order was missing so sharing was necessary (not typically a problem, but again the portions were small). The seasoning and "finishing" of the food was lacking as well. The lady who waited on us was pleasant and courteous. A lot of locals were hanging out at the bar that evening (it was the last off-season week), so the atmosphere was loud, but not unpleasant. We stopped in china Town for lunch while in vacation at the outer banks. My daughter insisted she wanted Chinese when we were in seafood central ‍ but okay we let her pick. She got the chicken lo mein and loved it, my husband got shrimp broccoli and it was very good. Huge shrimp! My son got sweet and sour chicken and was happy. My sesame chicken was not my favorite I've ever had. So 3 out of 4 of us were happy but they were pretty nice and had quick service so overall I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars. :) read more

Sorry to post a negative review....not many restaurants to choose from in the off season on the OBS but I could not recommend at all. Nice cashier but taking my order was impossible to understand her language. Bill was almost $18 take out for one person! This was basically 2 meals for me....and I don't eat much. This place was a delight. After reading some of the reviews my friend and I were hesitant to come here but eventually our Chinese cravings became too strong. The workers were very kind, and the restaurant itself was very clean(98.5 sanitation). Our meal also came out quickly. I would definitely recommend this place for some quick Chinese food before going to the beach. read more

If you are on the island and have a craving fro Chinese food then the restaurant can serve your needs. If you're looking for some gourmet Chinese dining experience then this is not for you. I just love this place! They have been in business for several years and I have never had a bad meal from them. They are just a little family and boy, can they cook! It always impresses me to see how high their sanitation rating is being that they don't speak English very well. I highly recommend any of their shrimp features; I heard they buy their shrimp locally. My personal favorite is Schezuan (sp?) Shrimp; hubby loves Hunan Shrimp, Bro-in-law loves the General Tso's Chicken, Sis-in-law loves Mei Fun and nephew loves Pork Fried Rice. It's all good! read more

This place is a joke. If I could give it a negative star review I would. There is always something wrong with this food. It either has no flavor or a pungent and overbearing flavor. Awful. Awful. Awful. This is the only Chinese place around and let me tell you, this place is dirty and disgusting. As soon as we walked in there, we noticed that either the tables were sticky with food all over them or they were wiped down with a bunched up, brown rag. You'd be better off fighting the seagulls for for french fries in a parking lot. Really bad. All the pans in the buffet had barely any food in them. You were afraid to take too much because you didn't want to leave nothing for the next person as they never came out to refill them. And, what you took was greasy and/or unnaturally colored...some sort of chicken in a red sauce was pink, not uncooked but it looked as though it had been dyed pink. Very odd. read more

We tried despite the reviews posted, and was pleased. We were trying for a cheaper dinner one night during our week long stay. They had a 99.5/A health inspection rating. Very clean. The employee I spoke with was very friendly. The food was Chinese takeout. Not fine dining by no means, but I don't go to this type of restaurant for haute cuisine.
