This was my first time at China Tea but I shop at the Publix in Lake Cay Commons regularly. I had read the door instructions that say you must call in your order before entering the restaurant. I called ahead and ordered the lunch size Mongolian beef. It is $10 plus tax T-F. They are not open on Sundays or Monday. I requested not spicy and was informed it would be ready in 15 minutes. The meal was waiting for me and she ran my card. I was in and out in under 2 minutes. Since there is no seating, the access inside is to the pickup counter only. I am not sure if it got jostled on the way home or it came like that but the beef and onions and sauce were all mixed together. I would upload a picture but the medium sized clam shell packed full of rice and beef looked all black from the Mongolian sauce. It did not look appetizing. The beef was extremely tender and it had both sliced onions and green onions. The sauce was smooth and not spicy as promised. It was all going to the same place so I guess having it mixed did not really impact the flavor. It was more than I could eat in one meal. I think it was a good value and would order from China Tea again. read more

We visited China Tea on a Saturday night after a long day at the parks. We called in our order but were never asked for a name or phone number--which left us a little confused. We were told it would be ready in 35 minutes, so we headed straight there. When we arrived, we noticed the dining area is closed and all orders are taken by phone only. At first, it felt odd because no one acknowledged us, and we thought the lady at the counter was being rude. But after watching a few people come and go, we realized she had a system--she doesn't talk to you until your food is ready and she calls out your order. Once we understood that, it made more sense, but it was definitely a little frustrating and confusing at first. Now, the food? Absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. We ordered the special fried rice, chicken with mixed vegetables, pork egg rolls, and vegetable lo mein. My family and I enjoyed every bite, and it made up for the wait and initial confusion. Heard good things about this place and finally decided to give it a try. Glad we checked online as we didn't know it was Take out only. (Neither did a lot of people who walked up while I was waiting!) . Called and ordered and waited about 10mins after I got there. The food was very very good. I always order over the phone and the food is good but the reason for the 3 stars is because my order came out to $53 dollars and some change but I looked at my bank statement and I was charged $63 dollars. Keep your receipts even the one you add tips because I was charged $10 dollars more and I don't know why. I don't think I'll come here again if they are scamming. read more

Your absolute best choice for a break from the mediocre overpriced choices in house at the nearby Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Just know, you need to order by phone ahead of time, and it's take out only. There are three "workers" here but the woman who owns and runs it is the one doing 90% of the work. She answers the phone, takes orders, cooks, wraps the food, takes the payment in a whirlwind of activity. I was annoyed after walking in the August Orlando heat to get here to see a little paper sign on the door saying I had to order by phone. So I sat outside and ordered and the connection was less than perfect so I thought I heard her say my order would be ready in 5 minutes. After waiting longer than that I asked her how much longer my order would take. We got in a bit of an argument because she insisted she said 35 minutes and that it would be ridiculous for her to say five minutes because Chinese food takes longer than that. She was right so I shut up. I tell you this because I want you to understand how efficient she is. She argued with me while serving up 4 customers, cooking on a few different woks and dishing up rice from an enormous steamer, answering orders on the phone including one woman who had some really stupid questions, and she still won the argument with me. And I was really "hangry." So in addition to all her restaurant skills, she's good at arguing with me. Exactly 35 minutes from my phone call, my order was ready and it was good. We're not talking about authentic Chinese food, this is just very good American-Chinese food, the egg foo yung, egg rolls, are not just good, they are a good deal (for this overpriced area). read more

The food was good as everyone says. But the service was awful, the cashier was not personable at all! I didn't take it personal, but I can see how it can rub customers the wrong way. The restaurant seating was closed off and looked like a storage space. I thought, wow the food must be that good. So I decided to try again another day and follow instructions by, calling in. I was deciding between two options and hade questions about one option. The lady got quite testy with me so I rapidly made a choice. Red flags all over the place but, I press on. Picked up the food and was waaay disappointed with the look of the food and let's just say....FLAVORLESS taste! Tonight was our third time ordering take out from here. Once in awhile, when we're here in Orlando we sometimes don't want to go to a restaurant and be out . instead we prefer to order some take out and just hang at the hotel. Tonight was one of those nights. We ordered a shrimp and lobster sauce dinner, chop suey meal, and seasame chicken With lo mein meal. My meal came with an egg roll and soup and we also got the 6 wings appetizer. All I can say was everything we had was great ! Everyone enjoyed their food and this is again the reason we continue ordering from China Tea when we come into Orlando for a weekend out of town. They seem to put extra effort and time in their food which makes the quality of the meals that much better. We'll definitely be back again !!! read more

Came to china tea on a weekday. I called and ordered on the phone and thank god I did because we walked here and you are not allowed to order in person. They have a paper that says all orders must be placed over the phone. You're not greeted by anyone and there is no where to sit and wait. They have plenty of tables and chairs but it's all blocked off. There is no seating available at all. The food came out and everything was there. Now on taste the fried rice was pretty good and so are the egg rolls which came with our order. We didn't order them so I'm not sure if that was a mistake or complimentary. The chicken wings tasted off... they were almost sweet. The sesame chicken small parts were good the big bites well were interesting. The grilled chicken tasted like pork. Definitely the best Chinese restaurant I've had in the Orlando area. I had the Kung Pao chicken, pork fried rice and an egg roll. Main course had lots of flavorful chicken and al denta vegetables. Just right. A generous portion of pork fried rice and a crispy egg roll made the meal a delight. Important note here, no inside dining. ALL orders must be phoned in for take out service. Honestly the best Chinese food I've had in a long time! It's order out only but we didn't know that and they accommodated us but there isn't any sitting inside. Overall place looked clean and the staff was very helpful. The waitress/server informed me that most of the sauces contain oyster sauce, making many items which don't obviously contain meat, still not vegetarian/vegan-so the items I ordered were actually vegetarian. I was very grateful to her for telling me that. The portion is HUGE- it was shared by 2 adults and still had left overs. Great price point too. HIGHLY recommend! read more

Flashback to 2020 This is a Chinese restaurant in Orlando that operates like businesses did during the height of Covid year. As of our first time visit in November 2022 still no dine in option. Takeout only. I tried to place my order on the app but I had questions on some of the dishes. We decided to drive to the restaurant and place our order there. You have to call in your order... from outside of the restaurant. Guests can only enter the restaurant when picking up food orders. The front part of the restaurant is blocked off and only set up with a table and clear plastic barrier guard shields to facilitate social distancing. Only two people to enter at a time (well, that's all the space it could fit). Employee/Owner was wearing a mask, people entering must wear masks. Menu was taped on the window. Order from there and wait outside (or in your car). Wait time: 25-30 mins. The prices were reasonable which was a plus! Roast Pork Fried Rice - it's okay, just different from our fried rice here in the Chinatown area in San Francisco House Special Fried Rice - same as above except with shrimp and chicken Mongolian Beef - very good. Cooked the way I like it but too much white onions Pad Thai - I never got a chance to taste but looked good Cream Cheese Rangoon - cheesy good. It was pretty good for a little hole in the wall tucked in a shopping center near Epic Universe. I walked up and there was a sign on the door that said place order over phone which I thought was strange, but whatever. I called and placed the order and the person on the phone was pretty short with me. Just said "ok ok ok 15 minutes". I walked to Publix to kill some time and came back to get my order. It was pretty dim inside and it appeared that it was basically just the one lady taking orders and packing food and helping cook as well, so I can see why she was being so short on the phone. Anyways now to the important part. Kung Pao Chicken is basically my go to at any Chinese restaurant. Asked for no peanuts and extra spicy. Most Chinese places have a little pepper symbol next to a spicy meal, but it's never been remotely spicy in my honest opinion. That changed tonight. Wow they actually made my meal spicy and it was soooo good. The veggies were cooked to perfection as well. A very nice portion for the entree with a side of rice for $15. Great takeout! Visiting for business and found this gem! It's takeout only. Dining is closed and there's signs throughout and outside. Order by phone and it's very straight forward and you'll see why...they are busy! I called at 6:50 on a Tuesday and my food was ready at 7:05. I had pad Thai, steamed dumplings and fried wings. Pad Thai was great and a decent kick with medium heat ordered. Not overly spicy. Dumplings, YUM! Don't think, just order! Wings were good and very crispy. They have a unique spice flavor. This is a pretty low score and I'll tell you why. First the ratings here were over 4 stars. I understand that it was a Saturday night and every restaurant was super busy. But why did the house Lo Mein taste burnt or the wonton soup have an aftertaste and the soup dumplings tasted burnt? Also the crispy wonton strips that go with the soup be burnt beyond being edible. Egg rolls were burnt too! We don't recommend this place to eat! Food is expensive so if you could make your meals better and pay attention to detail our rating would be more than a 1 star. read more

My family was in town this past weekend to visit the parks and after a long day we all wanted some good Chinese food. Had heard about China Tea from some IG influencer so decided to roll the dice. This place by far is the best chinese take out good we have ever had. We had a huge order as there was six of us, but man for the price of everything and amount you get so worth it. The place is kinda hidden. next to like some steakhouse place in a plaza. The interior does have some seating but looks like this place is more for take out. It seemed like there was one lady answering calls and getting orders but they work effectively. When you place your order, the lady on the phone will give you a time to pickup, you head there at that time and she i'll call out the phone number of the caller who placed the order when it's ready. Every thing was on point even to the crispy noodles for the egg drop soup. When I picked up my order the lady at the counter said the bag of the crispy noodles was open to let it cool. I have never had freshly made crispy noodles ever on any soups I have had and now I don't think I will ever go back. This place was so good we thought about going back the next day lol. All in all, this is definitely a hidden gem in Orlando and a must stop when we go back. We had a huge order so the wait was longer and that is understandable but so worth it. Was pleasantly surprised by this place! My family and I were staying nearby on vacation and my mom desperately wanted Chinese food (like real Chinese food). She definitely did not have high hopes but we found that their dishes were pretty authentic. We only got 2 things: shrimp fried rice and chines eggplant with garlic sauce. The fried rice was absolutely delicious. I will say they definitely put MSG in their food but let's be honest here, it's really not that bad for you in moderation and it makes food taste so much better. The eggplant was really good too and definitely satisfied my craving.
