Boiling fish is really a small portion and not worthy for $20 and the taste is not local. However, considering they have other Chinese food available, I still rate it 3 stars.
I recently visited Boiled Fish for dinner and tried the Golden Soup Boiled Sauerkraut Fish with Veggies at the recommendation of my server. There were a lot of positives about this dish: the Sea Bass was nicely flakey, bean sprouts were crisp, noodles were soft and savory and the broth was nicely spicy. However, my server also warned me not to eat these little seeds in the soup since they tend to have an unpleasant flavor. I tried one out of curiosity, and yep, it was not good. It tasted like strong cleaner and slightly numbed my mouth. So, I worked my way around these seeds. Unfortunately, this was a major pain. Every few bites I would accidently get one of these seeds tangled in the noodles or veggies and would completely ruin the bite. It eventually got to the point where I couldn't taste anything.
This place has such good reviews. I've been looking forward to trying it. My husband ordered the spicy soup and I got the tofu. The food was really spicy, but also flavorful. I would guess this is close to authentic Chinese food. it's like nothing ever eaten before. The picture does not do justice to how big my husband's bowl of soup was. It was probably enough for four people with some extra rice. Definitely give this place a try. The only reason I gave four stars is that both of our dishes had a bunch of Sichuan peppercorns. We asked the waitress about them and she said we are not supposed to eat them. It was impossible to remove all of them and we ended up not being able to eat much because our tongues were numb.
Great place to try broiled fish with options for various ingredient preparation. I ordered Spicy Seaweed as the appetizer, and it was good but a bit pricy at $7.95. The fish fillets were fresh and tasty combining with other ingredients.
If you love fish and enjoy spicy food, this is the place for you! As the name suggests, Boiled Fish Restaurant specializes in exactly that, and they do it exceptionally well. They offer 7 different styles of soup bases and two types of fish, giving you plenty of variety to explore. So far, we've tried four of their soup styles, and every single one has been delicious. The fish is always tender, and the soups are packed with flavor. You can choose between three levels of spice, but I'm pretty sure they offer a non-spicy option if that's more your speed. Their side dishes are also worth a shot. Everything we've tried has been really tasty. I would definitely recommend dining in to fully enjoy the experience. We're already planning our next visit to try the remaining soups. Highly recommend!
Apparently this is a new restaurant that opened just for a few months and yet it's getting such excellent reviews. It's in a strip mall and rather small inside. However, it looks bright and clean inside. The waitress spoke to us in Mandarin. She's quite friendly and gives a good description of some of the items on the menu. We ordered the Green Beans with Eggplants, Pork and a Boiled Fish. Every dish is smothered in chilli, shredded or cut up. The food here is genuinely Sze Chuen which means it'll be spicy. We eat everything lustily because it is just so delicious!
What an outstanding Boiled Fish soup. One of the best in many years. Excellent friendly service by Lina. The crispy chicken and crispy shrimp appetizers were a great complement to the sea bass fish boil combo. The black fungus mushrooms side platter was a delicacy. Plenty of food with one combo for two. We even took about 40% of it home. We really liked this place due to the great people plus awesome delicious food, equating to a great experience. Ambiance is OK. Hope they had more zen music
We drove by this place, it's a pretty small store hidden at the plaza, right next to the massage place. The fish is pretty fresh and we asked for extra spicy which they handled pretty well. The fermented egg w chili is pretty tasty, highly recommended is you could handle spicy. Overall good place for boiled fish.
We went to Boiled Fish on a Sunday evening. I selected it based on the high praise it's received on Yelp. We started with the fried gyoza, cucumber salad, black fungus in vinegar, and lotus root strips. All were good. For entrees we had the lemon flavor sauerkraut fish (spicy) with sea bass and rice vermicelli, and fried rice. The service was prompt and friendly. It was easy to order on the handheld device. The restaurant is very brightly lit and very clean.
Very authentic Chinese food served at a clean and modern restaurant. Wish we could've tried more dishes but the ones we tried were delicious. My husband and I shared a large bowl of sour preserved vegetable fish soup. It was fresh, spicy, loaded with fish slices and vegetables. It wasn't super sour or salty which was perfect. Nice rich broth. We also tried the stir fry mushrooms dry pot. Full of flavor and piping hot with a candle underneath to keep it hot. The service was super friendly and the decor inside was modern. Will be coming back next time we're in town!
Was so excited to try the slice fish soup. Unfortunately the stock is pork based so we had to pivot since we don't eat mammal. Ordered a scallion pancake and the green beans and eggplant. The green beans and eggplant was a huge portion and had just enough spice. We were impressed how the beans were cooked and still crispy with rice this was more than enough for the two of us at lunch. Though it says it's in Dr Phillips it is south of Sandlake so it took a bit for us to find it, once we used GPS we were fine. Service was delightful. We are willing to try it again but sadly won't be having and soup
Boiled Fish is the best priced traditional Chinese restaurant in Orlando. Their boiled fish soups are incredible, and they have an amazing lunch menu and regular specials. Where else in Orlando can you get traditional-style Chinese dishes for less than $10 an entree? The flavors are amazing, and the dishes are loaded with fragrant spices, ginger, and garlic. Definitely worth a try if you like real Chinese food. I usually get them on Ubereats but they have a nice restaurant as well.

We were here for dinner. The restaurant on weeknight does not have customers. We were the only one. It is kind empty for week nights. The order is very straightforward with the tablet and send to kitchen. The first appetizer was came out without much of wait. We got the Hunan style stinky tofu. They are different than Taiwanese style. The tofu is black and fried and top with chili sauce. It is interesting dish. We got the green pepper boiled fish sauerkraut noodles. The fish is good but the entire dish is ruin due to high concentrations of salt. It is difficult to east. The fish itself is also marinated with salt. Soup base is salty. This not good for high blood pressure patients. Even that I am normal person, I could not take it either. We left half of the bowl not touch. read more
Boiled Fish is an extremely interesting Sichuan Chinese restaurant near Sand Lake. If you've never had Sichuan food, you might be surprised at the intense sour, spicy, and numbing flavors of their signature soups but if you are familiar I think this will fit the bill. We came on a Friday evening and were effectively the only people in the restaurant. You order on a tablet at the table, which I will say was a little grimy. They were out of many of the menu options and the only fish option was Sea Bass, which is fine but did push the price up. The space itself was very modern and clean except for the aforementioned ordering tablet. The restaurant is in a strip mall that has plenty of parking. We ordered a small Laotan and a Golden soup which come with a side of vermicelli or rice. The portion size is massive, which was great. It's a bowl of pure fish and veggies as the noodle is on the side and is plenty for two people to share with an appetizer or other dish. The soups themselves are incredibly flavorful. Sour, salty, spicy. There are a ton of chilis and peppercorns piled on top of the soup - be warned that you shouldn't eat these and if you're not careful they can easily take over the dish. This happened to my dining partner and if I went back I would request fewer, or even none. The fish is cut in a way that makes for a very satisfying bite and is very flakey and absorbs the soup flavor very well. The service here was interesting. Despite being the only customers in the restaurant, we were acknowledged a total of two times - once when we arrived and once when the food arrived and then never again. Overall, Boiled Fish has food and flavors that were totally new to me that made for a fun experience. The portion was huge and the flavors unique. If you go in ready for novel flavors and experience you will enjoy your time. read more

We came in around noon on a Saturday and the place was completely empty. They have ample seating. This place seems to be self service so you order on a tablet and pay on the tablet but a server still comes to your table for assistance or questions. While we were eating, another couple came in, but the worker started chatting with someone she knew and completely ignored them for about 15-20 minutes, even after they waved and said "excuse me." We had to wait a while too just to get our to-go containers because of that same conversation. I know it's self service but you still expect some level of attentiveness, especially with only two tables occupied. We ended up getting our togo containers by getting up and asking her ourselves. As for the food, it was just okay. I got the Szechuan boiled fish, not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Cool concept and nice to see something like this in the area, but honestly, I'd rather drive to Orlando for a better version and more generous portions. If you've never had this type of dish before, you might think it's good. But if you have, you'll know there are better options, just not nearby. read more

The ambiance is a bit like a 'fast food' enterprise, and our dinner experience was share with very loud rambunctious neighbors. The service was attentive and sincere. The good was absolutely incredibly delicious. Next visit, I will choose (only) a 1 out of 5 in spice level. Everything was umami. Everything was unique. I will visit this place on each and every visit to Orlando. Get the fungus salad! read more
Excellent and authentic Chinese food, almost New York level. Fish soup is great, we got the classic. Enough for 4 to share with some other dishes. We had pork, mouth watering chicken (excellent like Sichuan), muer, and a couple lovely deserts. Try the Chinese donuts with sweet condensed milk, wonderful. Best new Chinese in Orlando. Our expectations were that if the main menu item was boiled fish and the place is called boiled fish, the boiled fish should be good. And it did not disappoint. We got Classic Spicy Boiled Fish & the Golden Soup Boiled Sauerkraut Fish with Veggies. We also got the Shredded Tofu with Sauce and the Crispy Chicken. The classic spicy was very enjoyable, not the kind that makes you sweating for water. Because the classic spicy was so flavorful, I felt like it overshadow the sauerkraut fish. But I did like the veggies in the sauerkraut more. The owner was very helpful and made sure to explain the menu if we had any questions. She also checked up on us and made sure we had a good experience. read more

Found this unique Chinese restaurant while visiting Orlando, Florida and wanted to try their "Boiled Fish" 酸菜鱼. It is not disappointing and the portion for each dish is big! Stir fried vegetables ( bean sprout) is tasty. Boiled fish is delicious and is different than the one I tried in the past, which was not that yummy. Boba is chewy. Great customer services and feel warm as customer! Good to give a try for the fish dish and other items on the menu. read more

What a gem in the Dr.phillips area..My husband and I enjoyed the spicy shrimp,soup dumplings and vegetables. Once we walked in and saw the Asian families eating there we knew we came to the right place! The owners were amazing in their service and the atmosphere was spot on! Our new spot for sure! Seen the name as we were returning to our resort nearby and were intrigued. Not knowing how "boiled fish" actually is served, the owner considerately explained the different nuances of the various dishes. We had crispy chicken appetizer, deliciously seasoned, lightly breaded. We also ordered 2 small boiled fish dinners with rice and were so pleased with the spices, the fish and the taste. Cheery, friendly atmosphere, ideal for families. read more

This was so so delicious. We enjoyed everything we ordered especially the Lemon Boiled Fish and Green Beans with Eggplant. The jelly veggies were really good. The soup dumplings were just ok. Not very soupy and the skin was kind of thick. They were more like steamed gyoza. The tofu skin with chives were different and had good flavor, but they were a little tough to eat because the chives were difficult to bite into. The staff was really nice and helpful. Overall great experience and can't wait to go back and try more things. read more
