Classic Spicy Boiled Fish With Veggies (Very Spicy)

We came in around noon on a Saturday and the place was completely empty. They have ample seating. This place seems to be self service so you order on a tablet and pay on the tablet but a server still comes to your table for assistance or questions. While we were eating, another couple came in, but the worker started chatting with someone she knew and completely ignored them for about 15-20 minutes, even after they waved and said "excuse me." We had to wait a while too just to get our to-go containers because of that same conversation. I know it's self service but you still expect some level of attentiveness, especially with only two tables occupied. We ended up getting our togo containers by getting up and asking her ourselves. As for the food, it was just okay. I got the Szechuan boiled fish, not the best I've had, but not the worst either. Cool concept and nice to see something like this in the area, but honestly, I'd rather drive to Orlando for a better version and more generous portions. If you've never had this type of dish before, you might think it's good. But if you have, you'll know there are better options, just not nearby.

Boiling fish is really a small portion and not worthy for $20 and the taste is not local. However, considering they have other Chinese food available, I still rate it 3 stars.

Golden Soup Boiled Sauerkraut Fish with Veggies

I recently visited Boiled Fish for dinner and tried the Golden Soup Boiled Sauerkraut Fish with Veggies at the recommendation of my server. There were a lot of positives about this dish: the Sea Bass was nicely flakey, bean sprouts were crisp, noodles were soft and savory and the broth was nicely spicy. However, my server also warned me not to eat these little seeds in the soup since they tend to have an unpleasant flavor. I tried one out of curiosity, and yep, it was not good. It tasted like strong cleaner and slightly numbed my mouth. So, I worked my way around these seeds. Unfortunately, this was a major pain. Every few bites I would accidently get one of these seeds tangled in the noodles or veggies and would completely ruin the bite. It eventually got to the point where I couldn't taste anything.

This place has such good reviews. I've been looking forward to trying it. My husband ordered the spicy soup and I got the tofu. The food was really spicy, but also flavorful. I would guess this is close to authentic Chinese food. it's like nothing ever eaten before. The picture does not do justice to how big my husband's bowl of soup was. It was probably enough for four people with some extra rice. Definitely give this place a try. The only reason I gave four stars is that both of our dishes had a bunch of Sichuan peppercorns. We asked the waitress about them and she said we are not supposed to eat them. It was impossible to remove all of them and we ended up not being able to eat much because our tongues were numb.

Great place to try broiled fish with options for various ingredient preparation. I ordered Spicy Seaweed as the appetizer, and it was good but a bit pricy at $7.95. The fish fillets were fresh and tasty combining with other ingredients.

If you love fish and enjoy spicy food, this is the place for you! As the name suggests, Boiled Fish Restaurant specializes in exactly that, and they do it exceptionally well. They offer 7 different styles of soup bases and two types of fish, giving you plenty of variety to explore. So far, we've tried four of their soup styles, and every single one has been delicious. The fish is always tender, and the soups are packed with flavor. You can choose between three levels of spice, but I'm pretty sure they offer a non-spicy option if that's more your speed. Their side dishes are also worth a shot. Everything we've tried has been really tasty. I would definitely recommend dining in to fully enjoy the experience. We're already planning our next visit to try the remaining soups. Highly recommend!

Apparently this is a new restaurant that opened just for a few months and yet it's getting such excellent reviews. It's in a strip mall and rather small inside. However, it looks bright and clean inside. The waitress spoke to us in Mandarin. She's quite friendly and gives a good description of some of the items on the menu. We ordered the Green Beans with Eggplants, Pork and a Boiled Fish. Every dish is smothered in chilli, shredded or cut up. The food here is genuinely Sze Chuen which means it'll be spicy. We eat everything lustily because it is just so delicious!

We went to Boiled Fish on a Sunday evening. I selected it based on the high praise it's received on Yelp. We started with the fried gyoza, cucumber salad, black fungus in vinegar, and lotus root strips. All were good. For entrees we had the lemon flavor sauerkraut fish (spicy) with sea bass and rice vermicelli, and fried rice. The service was prompt and friendly. It was easy to order on the handheld device. The restaurant is very brightly lit and very clean.

We drove by this place, it's a pretty small store hidden at the plaza, right next to the massage place. The fish is pretty fresh and we asked for extra spicy which they handled pretty well. The fermented egg w chili is pretty tasty, highly recommended is you could handle spicy. Overall good place for boiled fish.

What an outstanding Boiled Fish soup. One of the best in many years. Excellent friendly service by Lina. The crispy chicken and crispy shrimp appetizers were a great complement to the sea bass fish boil combo. The black fungus mushrooms side platter was a delicacy. Plenty of food with one combo for two. We even took about 40% of it home. We really liked this place due to the great people plus awesome delicious food, equating to a great experience. Ambiance is OK. Hope they had more zen music

Very authentic Chinese food served at a clean and modern restaurant. Wish we could've tried more dishes but the ones we tried were delicious. My husband and I shared a large bowl of sour preserved vegetable fish soup. It was fresh, spicy, loaded with fish slices and vegetables. It wasn't super sour or salty which was perfect. Nice rich broth. We also tried the stir fry mushrooms dry pot. Full of flavor and piping hot with a candle underneath to keep it hot. The service was super friendly and the decor inside was modern. Will be coming back next time we're in town!

Boiled Fish is the best priced traditional Chinese restaurant in Orlando. Their boiled fish soups are incredible, and they have an amazing lunch menu and regular specials. Where else in Orlando can you get traditional-style Chinese dishes for less than $10 an entree? The flavors are amazing, and the dishes are loaded with fragrant spices, ginger, and garlic. Definitely worth a try if you like real Chinese food. I usually get them on Ubereats but they have a nice restaurant as well.

Was so excited to try the slice fish soup. Unfortunately the stock is pork based so we had to pivot since we don't eat mammal. Ordered a scallion pancake and the green beans and eggplant. The green beans and eggplant was a huge portion and had just enough spice. We were impressed how the beans were cooked and still crispy with rice this was more than enough for the two of us at lunch. Though it says it's in Dr Phillips it is south of Sandlake so it took a bit for us to find it, once we used GPS we were fine. Service was delightful. We are willing to try it again but sadly won't be having and soup

This is a really good authentic Chinese Szechwan type restaurant. It's small but the service the food the ambience are all great. we had a fish soup, Stir vegetables, sesame buns, soup buns, chicken skewers, and several other foods. Really new spot we came to check out! We really loved everything but my absolute favs were the crispy tofu and the lemon fish. The crispy chicken looks like it would be overcooked and dry but it was still very chewy. All the mains are definitely shareable between 3 people in my opinion. Walked in and was greeted politely and with a smile. The restaurant appeared very clean and bright. Ordered crispy tofu & spicy shrimp. The food was very flavorful. The spicy shrimp came with the shell on. After removing the shell of the shrimp and the red peppers from dish (these had a papery texture) there was not a lot of volume left to the dish. Therefore, the $25 price point of the spicy shrimp entree felt steep for the amount of food you get. The crispy tofu ($7) was also on the smaller side. Overall, tasty food but a bit disappointed to be hungry after spending $30+ on dinner. read more

This restaurant has vegan and non-vegan options. Both my vegan and non-vegan family and friends really like the food. And I've finally found a place that sells really good tofu; in the past, I've gone to many restaurants and ordered tofu, but never a second time because it didn't taste that good. This is a fairly new restaurant that serves tasty food and offers good service, so I hope it will thrive and be in business for a long time. I highly recommend this eatery. read more

Great new restaurant for the Dr. Phillips area! The staff is super friendly and willing to explain every detail of their menu. They have options that range from very spicy to no spice. Went in for lunch on a Monday. Not that busy but the food and service were good. The sweet lady who greeted and served us was super friendly! We ordered the crispy chicken, crispy beef, small Green Pepper Sauerkraut Fish and small Classic Spicy Fish. I prefer the sauerkraut fish more but it could be more sour. I feel like two people can share the small order of fish between the rice/noodles and the appetizer. This is our first time here at Boiled Fish. The server is super nice and gave us some recommendations based on our preference . Ended up we ordered 2 combos and one regular noodle. The combo is including one choice of soup, with noodles or rice and pop corn chicken ( the portion is pretty big and it's delicious) and one soft drink. Overall, it's good taste with reasonable prices. Worth to try it. read more

The service was quick and very welcoming. The restaurant itself was very clean and modern, providing for a comfortable setting. Clean, delicious, and authentic food that leaves you full and feeling good after. I had the house boiled sauerkraut fish with rice. It had a delicious and citrusy broth, not spicy despite all of the red peppers floating on top. I am excited to try their other main dishes. I also had the brown sugar rice cakes, they are hollow with a bit of sweet sauce inside. I would order both again. read more

What a great surprise! The Szechuan flavors are so subtle and tasty. It is great to have complete control of the degree of hotness of the dishes. We tried the Golden Soup, fried beef, tofu squares, and bean-filled sesame balls. All did not disappoint. We he servings are ample and satisfying. Absolute hidden gem of a restaurant. We ordered two pots with various sides and everything was fantastic and authentic. Given this is a touristy area it is incredibly hard to find any great authentic chinese food so we ate so happily. :') When I say this is authentic, I'm saying this from the perspective of someone who's from Toronto and NYC. Definitely comparable and better than many places I've had boiled fish in those two cities. Highly recommend this for anyone interested in authentic chinese food. Amazing portion and delicious food! read more

Hangout with friends for lunch. Clean and cozy environment. We ordered several fishes for each, tasted really good, we will come again. But I think it is enough for two people to order one fish because there are a lot vegetables with the fish, and we also ordered some appetizers, they are good too. I love their bubble milk tea as well, recommend when you ordered a spicy fish. read more

Amazing Szechuan! We had the traditional boiled fish & it was delicious. Very generous portion with tender tasty shrimp & lots of veggies. Loved it. Though traditional boiled fish is spicy they had at least 2 maybe 3 variations that were either mild or not spicy. The service was friendly, fast & attentive. Try it! If you love Asian you won't regret it. read more
