Awesome food! The shrimp egg rolls and crab ragoons were crispy and filled! The low mein and sweet and sour chicken was also VERY good!!

The food was delicious! We had steamed dumplings and Sesame Chicken. Everything was hot and ready in 15 minutes. Great place!

Recently moved to the area and was looking for decent Chinese food. This place was nearby so we gave it a go. Ordered crab Rangoon and a small pork lo mein, The crab Rangoon was fabulous! Loved the triangle shape, generous filling, and tasty dipping sauce. The lo mein was delicious as well. Particularly appreciated the onions and mushrooms in the lo mein which added a nice twist. I only wish the lo mein came in a smaller portion. I ordered the small and it was way too much. Noodles don't reheat well for me, so leftovers of this don't work for me. It looks like the place was recently renovated and the staff were friendly and helpful. Appreciated the self service condiments! Will definitely return for that awesome crab Rangoon! read more

Fried rice was just yellow colored rice with Shrimp in it a few bamboo shoots. No egg, no onions, no vegetables, not even fried. Ordered 2 egg rolls, only got one. Shrimp in vegetables was pretty tasteless. I would not recommend and I would not order from there again. read more

Used to love it = but tonight was the food was absolutely awful. The chicken was some fat rubbery substance. In fact I could not even recognize it so I called to let them know, I got the wrong order. China Taste is...interesting. The storefront is not very inviting. I walked in, expecting this to be a little bit larger than it actually was - it's really just a takeout storefront. There are two mismatched tables and some chairs, but they were covered with stuff when I was there, and didn't look available for sitting down. There's also a collection of bamboo plants and jewelry for sale...a sort of eclectic atmosphere. To the food - there's maybe a dozen items, with pictures, posted above the counter, and I honestly thought that might be the whole menu. Given how...non-committal this place seemed to be at embracing it's restaurant status, it wouldn't have stunned me. But they had paper menus too, with all the standard stuff. I ordered Kung Po Chicken, since it's harmless and a good yardstick for Chinese. The portion was huge for the $5.50 or so that it cost me, although didn't include egg roll or anything like that. Fine with me, as I don't think I've ever had an egg roll worth eating again. The chicken was just as I would expect - cubed veggies, tender white meat chicken, nice salty-spicy brown sauce, and some rice. The rice had soy or something on it to turn it brown (but wasn't brown rice) but didn't appear to be what I would call "fried rice" as it didn't have egg or veggies in it. I'm not sure how much longer I'll be up in this neck of the woods, but this is worth going back to. The trick is finding a place to eat the food. We ordered several appetizers and beef with pea pods and were very satisfied with the take out. I have also enjoyed their hot & sour soup. Prices are reasonable, food was ready when they said it would be, the lady up front was pleasant, the portions were larger then expected and I will be back. I rarely post reviews but the food at this Chinese restaurant was superb, especially the pork fried rice and the egg rolls. After reading all the reviews, I'm alittle concerned that they are not always consistent but I will definitely be back next time the craving hits. read more

Great family-run business. Have been going here for years. It's not really a dine-in place. There are a couple of tables, but I think they're just for waiting. Front part of the restaurant is cluttery and could use some sprucing up, but this place is busy as hell. I didn't like the fried rice last time. Big concern: Bathroom had NO SOAP in it and it is the bathroom used by employees as well as waiting customers....

The few times I have been there the food is very good and cooked to order. Location is convenient across from Jewel. However the lady is not friendly, doesn't speak to you or smile, and throws your bag of food at you like she is being inconvenienced by your presence. There are only two tables and one is being used as the lady's office, so don't expect to dine in. Just not sure I will be returning. read more

Really had a craving for Chinese food yesterday and didn't want to drive 20 plus miles away.... I was pleasantly surprised since the last few times the food may have been just average. The lo mein noodles were excellent. Beef and Chinese vegetables also very good and portion sizes great since now I have food for a couple of days... Horrible customer service. Ordered a beef dish, received chicken. Called to complain and lady said NO that was beef, they look the same. Well if they look and taste like chicken, why not just call it chicken and not beef? Too many other chinese restaurants out there with friendlier service and better tasting food. Will not return. Have been ordering here for years....owner had always cooked. On our Sunday order, there was a different cook.....food was terrible. Mongolian beef had very little meat, they added Peapods, lots of regular onions, very few green onions, and it had little juice so was very dry. Even the gravy for the egg foo you g had no flavor. HORRIBLE!! They are beyond rude right from the start! The food all tastes the same. Like the oil it is cooked in. But worst of all is their prices. A quart of PLAIN FRIED RICE is $7.00 with tax. Are you ,kidding me? No seasons/no flavor. They also don't stand behind their food. We were given the wrong item. In order to receive the correct item we had to pay an additional $8.50. Never again! China City in Fox Lake or in McHenry have great food. A quart of plain fried rice is $2.00 there with an abundance of flavor. It is worth the extra 10 minute drive. I live in Spring Grove order take out from China Taste at least twice per month (ordering the same dishes every time). There are clearly different chefs that prepare the food, the food is either amazingly good or is terrible! I am considering not ordering from there anymore due to inconsistency of the food, when it is bad it is sooo bad. Entre' issues-Dry meat, tough meat,no sauce, wrong/ no flavor in sauce. Fried rice-under cooked/ over cooked, wrong/no flavor. Please China Taste, please give me the good stuff every time! When its good, you are the best around. read more

Horrible. Not sure how they got 3 stars out of anyone unless I went on an off night. I walked in 25 minutes before closing. After I ordered and paid, they let the man in front of me know he had to eat outside because they were closing shortly. The place had half the lights burned out and 2 of the 3 tables piled with a foot of clutter. I described what I wanted to the woman, long, wide, flat noodles. The woman's English was perfect. Other places call it lo mein but the picture showed spaghetti noodle type noodles. She told me to order mei fun. I did. After I left I discovered it was angel hair type noodles with a few pieces of meat, shrimp, shrimp tails and onions. They cut the tails off the shrimp but stirred them in with the food. Everything tasted exactly the same...the shrimp, the onions, the shrimp tails, the noodles, the brown meat.....it all tasted lake salty ramen noodles with different textures.
