Went for dinner around 5pm and it was already fairly busy. I somehow managed to make my way through about 3-4 plates (or at least attempted to lol), so I got to try a pretty good variety.
I started with the sushi, which honestly isn't bad for a Chinese buffet. Obviously you're not coming here expecting sushi-restaurant quality, but there's a decent selection, it always looks clean and nicely presented, and they have plenty of sauces available--soy sauce, wasabi, spicy mayo, etc. Most of the rolls I tried were decent and it's usually a good way to start.
Next I had some egg drop soup with wonton strips. Unfortunately, the soup was pretty bland this time and definitely needed some salt.
My next plate was mostly fried items--salt & pepper wings, cream cheese wonton, egg roll, gyoza, fried squid, some battered pork, plus one of the baked green mussels. This was probably the biggest disappointment of the visit because almost everything was barely warm. I was surprised considering it was dinner time, the restaurant was fairly busy, and the trays didn't look empty.
The baked green mussels were easily one of the better things I tried, and the fried squid was probably next. Both actually had good flavor. Most of the other fried items were lacking seasonings, and having them barely warm definitely didn't help. I ended up leaving quite a bit of that plate behind.
Since that plate was kind of a bust, I went back for some chow mein, broccoli beef and orange chicken, along with more squid and mussels since those had been the winners so far. The broccoli beef was okay. The brown sauce was just missing a little something, but mixed with the chow mein it worked. The orange chicken was another letdown--it was missing that sweet, tangy flavor you normally expect from orange chicken.
Service was about what I'd expect from a buffet. They kept an eye on drinks and were generally pretty quick about clearing used plates, which I appreciated.
I still haven't tried the Mongolian grill, which might actually be the better way to go here since you pick your ingredients and have everything cooked fresh. If I come back, that's probably what I'll try next.
They also have ice cream and your typical Chinese buffet-style desserts. I didn't really get into those this time because, surprisingly, I was DONE by that point. I did notice the ice cream cone area seemed pretty picked over/empty.
As far as the restaurant itself, it's nothing fancy and it's been around for quite a while. It was also pretty warm inside during this visit, which definitely isn't ideal when it's already hot outside. I didn't use the restroom, so I can't speak to that.
Overall, there were really only a couple of things I found genuinely tasty enough that I'd specifically want again--the baked green mussels and fried squid were the standouts, and the sushi was decent for what it is. Otherwise, too much of what I tried was either lacking in flavor or barely warm, which was disappointing during a busy dinner hour.
It's probably somewhere I'd consider again in a pinch, especially on a hot day when nobody wants to cook and you just want a lot of different options without spending a ton. But based on this visit alone, there are other buffets in the surrounding area where I've had better overall quality. I may come back at some point to finally give the Mongolian grill a try, and if the food is fresher/hotter and the experience is better, I'd definitely update my review. read more
