This restaurant certainly fills a niche for nice good-sized restaurants in Winchester. Rather than going to what-I-can-only-presume-is-a-mob-front Lucia's (they've been in business for years and never seem to have any customers), go to this pleasant Asian restaurant. Their platters are excellent and beautifully-served. Plus, they have some impressive sushi (I'd recommend the spicy salmon). It's relatively new in town, but I think it will do quite well. It was absolutely packed on our Christmas Eve visit, and the hostess was personally greeting guests who she already seemed to have a good rapport with. I'd take off a star simply because of the lack of variety in seafood. (Under their seafood section, why are there only shrimp and scallops? Where's the crab? Oh they have crab sushi. Never mind, that's crab stick : P) Also check out It Rains Fishes on Thompson Street. They've been around for slightly longer and offer some really excellent Thai food. read more

I ordered the Triple Sushi and the fish was so fresh. It was melt-in-your-mouth fresh. Delicious. The restaurant is classy and beautifully decorated. The serving staff seemed like they truly knew the regular customers. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because they would not honor my Nift gift certificate. They added a "$50 minimum" clause that was NOT in the fine print of the original gift certificate. To adhere to this without communicating to potential customers ahead of time is unethical and gives a stingy impression of the management. Do not try to use your Nift gift here! Many restaurants have tried their luck in this corner location, only visible to those who know it is there, and those before did not succeed. Since China Sky moved in they've lasted and there is almost certainely a crowd every Friday and Saturday night. Food is delicious and the sushi is always fresh! My personal recommendations are the House Fried Rice and Crispy Seasame Chicken...both are incredible! The food always comes out hot and is never exceptionally greasy. If you order Moo Shu, the wait staff will make up your first roll for you to show you how its done. read more

Since China Sky opened I have been eating here. The first time I left I was sad because I thought they wouldnt last very long, as so many other restaurants have come and gone in this location. However they have had such a steady crowd for the last few years that their business is still booming. The Amazing Chicken is my favorite dish. Slightly sweet and a little spicy with perfectly steamed veggies. All of the sushi is delicious and extremely fresh as well. I love their sweet potato rolls. Tempura sweet potato in the middle of rice with this sweet chinese bbq sauce on top. Delicious!! Their lunch specials fill you up and I always have something left over to snack on. I brought my bridesmaids here for lunch the day before my wedding and everyone had a blast. Definitely worth a try. read more

This is got to be one of the best Chinese food restaurants anywhere. The menu is pretty exquisite, the setting is elegant and the service is impeccable. The prices are reasonably not too expensive for the area. My friends and I eat here a lot we love it. I usually get the kung pao chicken, wonton soup and always crab rangoons yum yum yum yum. We have gone to all parts of the day lunch middle afternoon and late evening right before they close. It doesn't matter when we've been there the food is always been good. read more

This is my 12 year old son's favorite restaurant. The food is consistently good and the service is always friendly. We've been coming here for many years so it's like a family. I see the friendliness and familiarity with not just my family but with many others that dine there. The ingredients are always fresh and they are willing to accommodate every request we've ever had. Including when we figured out my son has a gluten intolerance. With plenty of notice they even made a few large trays of gluten free appetizers for a family party I was hosting. This is and will continue to be one of our regular stops when we eat out! read more

The food is good but the service was terrible. I went with my two younger sisters (we are ages 11-20). When the waiter brought our appetizer my sister had her hands on the table and the waiter scolded "no hands on the table." My other sister did not have her napkin on her lap yet and he s "napkins on your laps." Later, when he brought the entrees, he gave it to my youngest sister first and sternly said "don't touch" before going back to get the others. All in all a very uncomfortable experience. read more

china sky is my favorite place to go for chinese food. the food is very good, the service however is eh. the woman who was our waitress first came over and took away our tea cups without asking us if we still wanted them or anything. she then brought over some of our food and left half in the kitchen. she gave us some of the rice that went with the other meal and it ended up getting cold by the time the other food got here. she then gave us soy sauce instead of sweet sauce. i enjoyed the meal but i wish we got better service. read more

This is a service issue. I would give China Sky 4 stars but what happened to me tonight is beyond anything I've experienced before. After enjoying a nice dinner and very good service our waitress comes up to the table to return our credit card and asked me in front of all our guests, not the least bit discreet, why we only tipped 10% and what was wrong with the service. I was so embarrassed! I ALWAYS tip 20% and inadvertently only tipped 10% (I always double). Woops! I did talk to the manager but he didn't seem to think it was anything that important but said he would talk to our waitress. :( read more

This is probably the best Chinese food I have had in a while. Went for my mother's birthday, we were all first timers. We were immediately greeted and seated right away. Food was incredible, and not greasy like many other Chinese places. We ordered the chicken and broccoli, which was nice and tender white meat with an incredible light brown sauce. The beef teriyaki also tender with a great flavor. Fried rice was fluffy and moist. Overall a great atmosphere , we enjoyed our food and time there. We all agree that we will be back. read more

Been going to China Sky for years. The quality was great....and the flavors rich-and William the bartender friendly and welcoming. On my last 2 visits I was sadly disappointed - nothing was good. The sauces on 2 different dishes lacked flavor - one was so sweet I might as well have been eating sugar cubes. The General Gau's chicken had zero flavor and the chicken tasted like it was over fried - perhaps burnt oil - I don't know. Honestly I'm thinking old oil. Just not good. Disappointed.... I I asked the waitress if they had a new chef or sauce maker and she said no. Hands in the air no idea - but it's not the same. And when someone does not eat their meal- 2 forks of rice, 2 of the nuggets of chicken, literally leaving a full dish you address it on the spot! That's great service! This did not happen. read more

My wife and I really like this restaurant, and the only negative is that it's a bit pricey. We always order the szechuan cuisine here, and it doesn't disappoint. The tables have linen tablecloths and the waitstaff is attentive and efficient. My father was somewhat of a food snob, but China Sky was always on his to do list when he visited. Even if the food was great (which it's not), the service kills it. I only had sushi but honestly i've had better from the supermarket. Our waitress was breathing down our necks for us to order from the moment we sat down even though we asked for a few minutes to review the menu. Our food came out almost immediately after ordering but my sushi was brought at the same time soup and salad was brought out for my dinner partner, instead of as an entree. Not a big deal but not ideal. Unfortunately we felt very rushed by our waitress to leave even though it was a weeknight and the restaurant wasn't busy. She ignored requests for more tea and did not ask us if we wanted dessert. I definitely won't be going back. read more

By far THE best Chinese restaurant I have ever been to! The food is delicious - on a different level from any other Chinese restaurant. The ingredients are fresh, the food isn't greasy at all, and they will accomodate special requests. The staff is crazy-nice and super friendly and helpful. My friend brought a group of first graders and their moms after an event, and the manager worked out a GREAT deal with her ahead of time that was perfect for the varied tastes and very afforable. my review is based on my take out experience only...but i have to say the seating looks pretty nice. After a hair appointment in Winchester and creeping my hairdresser out by the crazy sounds of my stomach she recommend i walk over to this place for some goodies. She urged me to order the spicy tuna roll..and boy was i happy i did. This roll has crunchy tempura in it...crunch tempura...how great is that? Their food is so darn pretty too...almost too pretty to eat. I've ordered probably half of the different sashimi and sushi on the menu and have never had a bad bite. Even cooler, they have Chinese food too. I just think that is the greatest thing. A massive menu of Japanese and Chinese food but they have everything down pat. read more

What really impressed me most was their Sesame Chicken - which serves as our barometer by which we rate local chinese. This is an absolutely fabulous restaurant. They serve both Chinese and Japanese dishes. Their food is wonderful, much better than any other local Chinese restaurants. We go to China Sky an average of 3 times a month and have never had anything but an excellent meal. Service is also excellent. They are a little expensive for Chinese, but not expensive in general and they are worth every penny. Evening parking is available in the parking lot across the street. Lunch parking is street only, and can be hard to find. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. read more

Got a late dinner to go. Wonton and Hot/Sour Soups were excellent. The Wonton Soup had a rich chicken-y broth and the balance of hot/sour was perfect in the other soup. We shared crispy sesame chicken as an entree. It was far from the "healthy menu" Chinese dishes that I usually order but was soo delicious in a deep fried, sweet and sour way. I was surprised by how nice this place looks inside because the street where it's on looks sketchy. We were quickly seated, got water and tea right away. Great. Our waitress then proceeded to want to take our orders while I was still putting my coat on the back of my chair. She came back trying to take our order, 3 times in 5 minutes. Not so great. We both got a combo that allows you to get three maki rolls. I went with basic rolls and got a spicy tuna maki, tuna & avocado maki and a shrimp tempura roll. The combo comes with miso soup, which we got in 2 minutes. Great. My friend also ordered the same combo and got her rolls about 5 minutes before I got mine. Different rolls, but I ordered no wasabi- I'm allergic to wasabi. Not so great. My friend finished her rolls before me, and our waitress removed her plate as she was putting her last piece of sushi in her mouth. Not so great. When I finished my rolls, my plate was also removed from the table within a couple of minutes. And the check followed immediately after. Mind you, she didn't ask if we were done, wanted dessert or anything... Not so subtle... We were trying to have a nice girl-talk. You know? The kind where we gossip and talk about nothing and everything, but our waitress was determined to get us out of this place immediately. So, yeah, that was pretty annoying. Why am I giving them 4 stars, you ask? Because they give free green tea, which many other places don't anymore. Their sushi was also very good, their decoration is very tasteful and place looks nice and clean, we were seated quickly and the prices although not great, they weren't bad. China sky has great food, great atmosphere, good , prompt service, and the food is great! I always get takeout appetizers! I can get three apps for about $12 or so. Not bad if you ask me. I usually go with the Peking Ravioli, the Scallion Pancake, and the crab rangoons. They have quite a few menu options, a HD TV and bar area for the working crowd or after work crowd and a full service sushi bar with a chef who makes it on the spot and you can watch him work. The decor in the place is incredible too. Patrking is a bit tough but there's a lot down Coverse Place you can usually park in for the china sky behind the big four story office tower by the mill pond. Off of Mt vernon St. Otherwise just park in the center somewhere (after 6pm parking is free). 2 hour or 1 hour parking most other spots , some spots 30 minutes or 15 so check. Easy access to the commuter rail station in Winchester Center as well and bus route 134 from Wellington Station or North Woburn read more

The sesame chicken here is extremely good, and their egg drop soup is tasty (a little on the bulky side). The restaurant is very pricey even for lunch but the decor is nice and it's clean. The service is okay. I would have liked to have some crispy noodles on the table to use in my soup, but the waitress didn't come around often enough. By the time she did, I had already finished the soup. It wasn't very busy either.. maybe 2 or 3 other patrons. I would go back given the opportunity to maybe have dinner there with friends, but for a business lunch it's over the budget. read more

I had the Generals Chicken. Breading on the pieces of chicken was very heavy and the sauce was quite watery with generic flavor. Brown rice was also very dry/perhaps over cooked. Especially given the price point, one would hope for better. Decided to go back and try the sushi and still was not impressed.
