China Master in Citadel Mall in West Ashley is one of my favorite stops for Chinese in the area. It is a nice place to get some delicious food while you are shopping and I like being able to see everything when ordering. They always have awesome free samples available if you are wondering what everything tastes like which would be cool to have everywhere. They have been consistent in their quality throughout the years and I have enjoyed coming here again and again.

In the mall when you're hungry everything catches your eye. I always have high hopes for the Chinese food as they are sure to get you to sample the food. I got spicy general tso's that was edible but not anything to write about. It wasn't spicy. Too much breading. Little sauce. White rice was good. Vegetables looked scary (dark lines) and over cooked (see pic). I wasn't hungry anymore but also wasn't pleased with myself for succumbing to mall food.

    Burnt, overly crispy General Tso's.

Old Li's is an outstanding authentic Asian restaurant. I loved it. No reservations required and plenty of tables. It's a very clean well ordered establishment. Also plenty of free parking right outside. The staff could not have been any better, prompt, attentive & very knowledgeable about the menu. The round table we sat had had a "lazy Susan" to facilitate the sharing of dishes. We ordered based on recommendations, personal taste & heat levels. The dishes were absolutely delicious. So good. I think the Peking Duck was the star of the show. If you are seeking Asian authenticity & phenomenal family service.. Old Li's in N. Charleston near Tanger outlet is your place to go. Of note the prices cannot be beat. A really nice change!!

I called in a pickup order around 8:30 on a Wednesday and it was ready in 15 minutes. We ordered steamed dumplings, spicy chicken, string beans, and fried noodles with vegetables. I wasn't sure how things would be to-go but everything was excellent and hot. The dumplings though were some of the best I've had, and the dipping sauce was so special!! I can't wait to order those again. The spicy chicken is truly spicy but delicious - they were cooked perfectly and on little bones - tons of flavor. Noodles were solid and the string beans majorly hit the spot. We will be doing more takeout from them, but first, I want to eat in the dining room, because the restaurant is spacious, nicely decorated, and in a location with a great parking lot!

The ambiance is very charming, making it a great spot for a casual yet elevated dinner. The Drink: We tried the traditional infused Baijiu for the first time. It's a concentrated liquor that packs a serious punch! It's served in a vessel smaller than a shot glass and meant to be sipped. One of the staff members shared the history and craft behind it, which made the experience feel like a genuine cultural exchange The Food: The Hot and Sour Mushrooms are the unsung heroes of the menu. They were earthy, tangy, and the perfect palate cleanser between bites of the fiery Cumin Lamb Noodles. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items!

It's not huge inside so if you're sold on dinner here, get a reservation! The staff is excellent about explaining the menu and identifying choices that can dial up or down the spice. We ordered a variety of plates including the marinated cucumbers, lamb dumplings, crispy potatoes, green beans, and Dan Dan noodles. Everything was absolutely fantastic, but the lamb dumplings and noodles knocked it out of the park. Everything but the green beans had some level of spice, but nothing intolerable. The food comes out family style and many of the plates are on the smaller side so it's made for sharing. You can't go wrong with anything here, just prepare to drink lots of water while enjoying the amazing food!!
