I've been going to China Ko for many years. It doesn't seem like they do the buffet anymore and the ice cream machine was down. This is understandable because they don't seem as busy compared to many years ago. The place is massive and the restaurant visually looks nice. Service was really good. This place is just... different. For what it's worth, they don't seem to care what anyone thinks of them. It's like they're not even concerned about losing business--like the restaurant would still be here even if no one ever ate there. The whole vibe suggests they're not relying on steady revenue to keep the lights on. Just look at it: the place is massive, almost eerily large, and yet somehow nearly always empty. Complain about the staff all you want--there never seems to be any consequence, like management just shrugs it off. It's as if making money isn't the real point of the operation. They do just enough to qualify as a restaurant, on paper... It's hidden away off the main road, there's no real advertising, no social media push, no effort to draw people in. If you dig a little deeper, you'll find they're actually in a legal battle with the county over taxes--but they're the ones suing, not being sued. It checks all the boxes of a money laundering front. That said--I HIGHLY recommend this place. Just don't touch the buffet. Stick with the made-to-order takeout--it's absolutely fire. I'd give them five stars, but I know they couldn't care less about stars. Also, they got rid of the chicken wings (my personal favorite), and when I asked management about it, they weren't rude, just... indifferent. They genuinely don't care, like they got bigger fish to fry, just not in the kitchen. "If you don't like it, please, eat somewhere else--we'll be just fine." The restaurant was empty when I arrive at 11:45. By the time I left 8 people were there. It no longer has a buffet. So I had the lunch specials. Food was okay. I had pepper steak. The white rice tasted liked it's been in the rice cooker for several days. The sweet sour sauce had tons of ginger in it. The egg roll didn't taste good. The pepper beef had a strong Smokey taste. We decided to dine-in and it was great! Honestly, it was completely empty besides one other person, because the buffet was temporarily shut down. We didn't mind though, and it was kind of nice having the entire restaurant to ourselves lol. The food was phenomenal, and the portions are very large for a very reasonable price. I haven't been here in years, but this place will always be one of my favorites, although it does kind of sucks it's not a buffet anymore the food was still really good. I only paid $35 for the food you see and it filled up me and my wife and still had some to take home. It was pretty nice because we were the only people there and the waitress was very helpful and kind. This is one of those places where the fellow yelpers were pretty much on spot about th is place. Fourteen reviews and an average of "meh" stars sums it all up on the average..............below average. As you walk in your mind might tell you that this is a pretty big place, look at the length of all of the buffet tables put together, look at the decorations and the variety of food here.....but it stops there. The food looks pretty good but on a good number of the dishes something did not seem right. Are they trying to start a new trend with an off key spice or have I been chewing on some bad batches on several food items? What Chinese buffet does not have the usual non dead crawfish? This place does....or doesn't I mean. Service, the place was about 25 percent full and even at that a small table of 4 of us could not get any refills of water. We watched as the other tables didn't seem to get their refills as well and wondered if there was a water saving policy in affect. The price if I remember correctly as a little over $12 for the weekend visit, that is pretty normal for most Chinese buffets because they replace some of the main items with what they feel would be more appealing to the larger concentration of customers. This could be either Crawfish, Steamed Salmon or even Fried Crabs. I failed to remember what I saw during this visit because the whole experience was not something we cared to remember in the future. Save your gas and trek on to the next buffet, they're a dime a dozen and you might actually find something the masses prefer. Batteries not included. read more

Great variety, not only in Asian food but American and Spanish food. Enough for me every one to choose from. Good desserts and fresh fruit available. They come around often replenishing food items. For those that like sushi there's a variety as well. They have been around a long time and are always friendly. Good for every once in awhile. read more

It's a generic "Chinese" buffet with all the twist that any other Chinese buffet has-- General Tso's, fried rice, fried noodles, green jello, french fries, sour soup, etc... I came here with five of my co-workers once and it was the last time we ever went. Most of the group had only eaten a single plate and didn't bother going back for more. For the price it isn't worth it. Basically, if you want to pay over $10 for an unlimited amount of OK food, this is the right place for you. Perhaps they should rename this place to China OK restaurant. Sorry, I really did try to like this place because I wanted decent Chinese food in my area of town. read more

I attended this location for a small 30 people family lunch. I had never been to this place - but was mid point for the multiple families who were attending. The location appeared to be a bit run down the bathroom was very old and a bit dirty. The location was very big and the staff was hard working. The food was ok. It had several items that I could not eat after tasting - sushi rolls, fried rice, and egg rolls. All was still pretty good. The family enjoyed the fellowship. We will not return. It's too far away. My husband came here with his business partner and recommended this place. I'll be honest and say that I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the location and the food. The buffet set up was nicely divided. Soups, fried foods, stir fry/not fried food, salad bar, sushi bar, fruit bar, and desert bar (with ice cream, which is always a plus). The stir fry foods were good. I really liked the veggies and chicken, and the teriyaki chicken was awesome. I'm they also had very good Singapore noodles. My girls were very happy with their food and there were no breakdowns. I actually thought that (minus the fried section) the stir fry section was very healthy. Vegetarians could definitely find something here to eat. The ladies working the tables were just ok. I wouldn't call them outwardly rude, but apathetic would describe them to a T. Both my husband and I had to ask for a refill, and honestly I find that unacceptable in any sit down restaurant. If I have to ask for a refill someone isn't doing their job. The worst part was the restroom. My God it stunk. The floor needs to be mopped with a bucket of pure 100% bleach. The toilets hadn't been cleaned in forever, and I'm not talking about the inside of the bowl. I'm talking about the fact that someone has urinated all over the seat, possibly years ago, and it never got cleaned. Also, if you looked at the actual toilet pipe if was dirty. How does that get dirty? Seriously?!?! I think this is a very good buffet. Maybe by the time I go back they'll have hired someone who can look at a glass and know to refill it, and hopefully they'll get a few people in hazmat suits to clean the women's restroom. read more

This place moved from it's original location off Woodforest Blvd. I think I enjoy it more now that they have gotten out of that nasty, smelly place Del's moved in to. This location is HUGE! I can say that you can find parking ANYTIME and eat hot, fresh food here ANYTIME! Once you've walked in they sit you down pretty fast and you're at the buffet in a snap. The buffet is of course what most people come here for. I enjoy their soups, boiled shrimp, and pepper steak. The service is always on point and the owner of the place is running around talking to everyone and making sure that everything is okay. He seems to be a nice guy. This place is a bit more pricey than the rest. At about 11 bucks I never mind the cost because they have something for everyone hear. I've only been here a few times in the last 10 years, I've had and liked the buffet but have ordered off the menu lately. I love the vegetable delight but the wonton soup seemed flavorless except for the pork dumplings in the soup. I won't order that again. I will try some of the other items because this place is only a few blocks from home. So this is my first time here and I've been wanting to try this place for a good while. Staff was decently friendly. As I walked through the buffet line I wasn't impressed but decided to still try it. While they have your typical Chinese food items, most of them we're either overcooked, dried out or they were almost out and needed replenishing. And yes, the food tasted the way it looked. My 4 year old and almost 2 year old picked as they were not impressed either. I go to pay at the register and my total was $31.00. I asked if they charged me for the kids and yes $4.50 & $1.50. I literally paid $6 for a couple of noodles, 2 rolls and 1 cheese puff. Needless to say, I will not be returning. Giving it 2 stars because I've had worse and at least it was edible. read more

Huge Buffet that is hard to beat. Food is always fresh since they stay busy and the turnover at the buffet is pretty quick. The cold bar (salad and sushi) leaves much to be desired since the turnover at this section is very low, but the rest of the buffet is well worth the price if you are hungry and can make more than one trip to the line. read more
