Pork and shrimp xiao long bao

Dumplings turn my world upside down! Friend suggested the OG location in Sugarland but this location is closer to us so we decided to check it out. The restaurant was very clean and organized and smaller I think than the OG. Staff is friendly and helpful. There was an in and out of customers and lots of pick up orders. Ordered: shrimp and pork xiao long bao, shrimp + pork + chive boiled dumplings, house special beef noodle soup, pork and scallion pot stickers, bbq beef ribs, curry beef + vermicelli pot stickers Shrimp + pork xiao long bao (4/5) - very juicy and filled, good portion of soup, and thin skin Shrimp + pork + chive boiled dumplings (4/5) - love boiled dumplings, the skin is so tender and the filling was delicious House special beef noodle soup (5/5 - so very good, lots of noodles (would have liked more soup) but very flavorful and the beef was sooooo tender Pork + scallion potstickers (4/5) - highly fried so the skin was crispy and tender with a filling that was meaty and delicious Bbq beef ribs (3/5) - didn't eat but friend said too saucy and a bit sweeter than normal Curry beef ribs+ vermicelli pot stickers (4/5) - didn't eat but friend said it was very flavorful and the curry wasn't too much or too little and the filing was tender and juicy I was very happy this location was just as good because it's closer to me lol. Def will be back. I love dumplings. There are a few more things I want to try.

Literally, THE BEST DUMPLINGS we've ever had!!!! They do not hold back on the filling. When they brought the food out we were astonished by how big and full they were. Hands down 5 stars!!!!

Food: The food was well packaged, fresh, hot, and plentiful. The only downside was the lack of flavor despite adding chili oil and one packet of soy sauce. Despite lacking flavor, I still enjoyed this comforting beef soup. The great service made it all worthwhile. Service: The BEST thing about my first experience with Dumpling World was the amazing customer service. I called to placed my order and the gentleman that answered was kind, attentive, and thorough. When I arrived, I was greeted with a genuine smile and kindness. Ambiance: I loved the vibe and cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the restaurant. I plan on returning for a nice sit down and ordering something else off of the extensive menu. If you're in the area, drop by and try it for yourself. You'll be pleased with their service for sure.

We are finishing our meal now, and can not wait to come back! Our favorite was the bok choy dumplings. Every dumpling was handmade and packed full of flavor. All of them were large dumplings and very filling. The spicy was just enough spice to enjoy but not to make you have regrets. Perfect meal.

The servers were very friendly and I liked how they were comfortably dressed very cutsie you could definitely wear casual attire the drinks were ok I ordered the ube taro brown sugar boba the boba wasn't the best texture it tasted premade but the drink it self was good. The soup dumpling was amazing great texture and nice and soupy on the inside the seafood noodle soup was delicious the texture of the noodles were thick and bouncy would definitely come back again

Really good food. Fast and friendly service. Plenty of room to sit. You can see them making the dumplings at the counter in the back corner. I got the pork and scallion spicy and sour dumpling soup. The Strawberry tropical refreshing tea with brown sugar boba. My best friend got the shrimp fried rice and pan fried thumb bun pork and scallion. Everything was hot and delicious. Finally we have a good dumpling place on the East side.

It doesn't matter how much time has gone by, or what other new spots spring up, every Houstonian…read moreknows Fung's Kitchen is the absolute OG and the standard when it comes to dim sum. For me, I am a traditional dim sum connoisseur. To me, I do appreciate when a dim sum establishment has the traditional carts being pushed around where you choose what you want and your bill gets marked. Fung's has this. I will say, some may shy away because it does get busy. Weekend dim sum lunches are packed even though there are over 100 tables inside. Advice for this is to perhaps get there earlier than your typical lunch hour - like instead of noon, try 11:15am. Getting there earlier would help the parking situation too. If you get there during traditional meal times, be prepared for a bit of a wait. But yes, once you go inside, once you get seated, I don't see how anyone could really have complaints here. The food quality is top notch. The service is what you would expect from a top-notch authentic dim sum spot. All of your traditional dim sum faves are here, including the shumai, hargow, ribs, tripe - all delicious. I think Fung's also stands out when it comes to what's beyond the norm. Their egg tarts are delicious. But you've absolutely got to try the lava buns with hot egg yolk cream inside. My goodness, those lava buns are addicting. If you don't see it on the carts, be sure to ask your server about it so they can get you some. I'll also say every worker there was especially helpful whenever I had any question - whether it was to help take a picture, direct where to go, help with whatever needed. I went there recently to celebrate a friend's birthday, and it was a great reminder of why I have always have a soft spot in my heart for Fung's. Great food, great service, great times - it's a heck of a combination. If you're looking for Houston dim sum, at least in my opinion, Fung's is the absolute cream of the crop.

But for me, this was some of the better dim sum I've had recently. Yes, you're in a grocery store lobby, so to speak, and yes, there's not much atmosphere other than the people streaming by going into that grocery store, but the three items I ordered (black bean ribs, har gow, shu mai) were all solid. Sadly, it seems like those days are long gone as the latter is on a downhill slope. Has ownership changed? (#1) I'm not sure, but so much else has. There's no tea offered, but bottled water. Service and the kitchen staff is a mess where it's most evident during their busiest hours. At one point, Cantonese was spoken but it also seems that's no longer the case. Previously the food was passable, but now it's near abysmal. Siu mai was hearty, but fairly bland. The same applies to their spare ribs (排骨), beef balls (牛肉球), and steamed glutinous rice in leaf (糯米雞). I felt their custard buns (奶黃包), fried stuffed crab claw (釀蟹鉗), fried glutinous dumpling (鹹水角) and the turnip cake (蘿蔔糕) were dried out. While the shrimp dumplings (蝦餃) and rice rolls (腸粉) mostly passed the test, it needed lots of soy sauce + condiments to be worth it. The only winner was their beef chow fun (乾炒牛河), where the beef and ho fun noodles were tender, while also being adequately greasy. The bonus bits of fried egg within were a nice surprise. While the prices range from $3.75-$9.70, a majority of it will average out to be $5-6 a dish. This isn't a terrible deal per se, especially during these times. However, it is a big price to pay for service issues and sub-par quality dim sum. While I'm hopeful that they'll rebound and I hope the Joy returns, but I don't think I will. __________ (#1) FZ / FJ peeps, where ya at?

The beef cubes with asparagus and mushrooms was good too. Beef was nice and tender and flavor was good. The house special tofu was a surprise box as it literally had everything in it! 5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here.
