You can't really find many places that have vegan food. They were able to accommodate my needs. It's a family owned place, and I did see many local people getting takeout. I had the Kung Pao tofu and hubby Shrimp Lo Mein noodles. The portions were generous, especially for the price. Taste wise, it was OK. Both dishes had carrots and celery as veggies, so that was odd. It looked too me like they go the cheapest way. I definitely had better Chinese food, but again, there isn't much to choose from in Manistique. Staff was not the friendliest. Keep in mind that there is a minimum of $30 if you want to pay with a card. read more

I was very disappointed with my order and with the food. I had distinctly ordered shrimp mei fun by number and ended up with shrimp chow mein, which was salty and heavy and greasy. my husband had gotten the Kung pow chicken, which had a very weird tasting sauce and the meat was weird as well. I'm not sure it was chicken. I am not sure what kind of meat it was. All of the food had a slightly moldy taste. In addition, the lady that worked there was very unfriendly as had been stated in previous reviews. I know that a different family runs the restaurant than had previously. I don't know who owns the restaurant now. The quality has really declined in the last 10 years. I was excited with the move to the old Burger King but I don't see how they will stay in business without improving quality and service. Sad. read more

We came here for lunch. My husband and I could have shared an entree. They give very generous portions. I got the Szechuan chicken and he got the General Tsos chicken. My kids shared sweet and sour chicken with white rice. We all shared an order of cheese wonton. My husband wasn't a fan of the fried rice but I thought it was just fine. My kids liked their food. The food came out piping hot. The veggies on the Szechuan chicken were cooked perfectly. The sauce wasn't my favorite flavor. I enjoyed the General Tsos sauce more than mine. read more

Beware if you're paying with card there is a $30 minimum! I'm not from the area so I walked in not having a clue. I placed my order over the phone so you'd think they would've mentioned that when they told me my total. The staff were a little rude but were nice enough to make an exception as I didn't have enough cash with me. The food was simple but delicious, your typical American Chinese fare. Misunderstood the sweet and sour shrimp to have the normal ingredients of pineapple chunks and green peppers. Did not like the overly sweet sauce served in a cup with tiny baby shrimp overly battered. The egg rolls were so hard and dry that even cutting with a knife was difficult. We didn't eat them. Its hard to find an asian place when you are in Upper Michigan. You cannot even find fast food chains so you could imagine spotting an asian restaurant. We were visiting the kitchi iti kipi clear lake and was craving for some asian food. Luckily theres only this ONE place in whole town and even neighbouring towns to be honest. The people who work there are owners, where very friendly. The food was very good for a remote location as such. We ordered Kung pao chicken, General Tso and Chicken fried rice. All were good. The quantity are huge and prices are pretty decent. Would def recomment to visit this place if you are visiting Upper Michigan. read more

This was just your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant. Nothing unique or wonderful, but like most Chinese cuisine it was good overall. When we walked in it seemed the family-owners and their kids were enjoying their lunch; they scattered out of the dining room to the back, but they did not need to. It would have felt less awkward had they just stayed seated enjoying their lunch. The signs on the door encouraged masks required and we even came back the next day because we did not have our masks with us initially, but we witnessed at least 4 takeout orders where people entered sans mask and they were still provided service. Excellent New York style Chinese food. Drove 40 miles from Munising and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend the Chicken with Black bean sauce and the Chicken Lomein. This is probably my favorite Chinese restaurant in Michigan. Tucked away in an inconspicuous building on Cedar St., This services up a real taste of their culture and also Americanized versions, a treat for your particular affinity in tastes. The deep fried pieces are not heavily battered, not greasy but crisp morsels, and there is not a taste of overused oil left clinging to the batter. Can't wait for summertime each year so I can indulge my cravings while I am up here, only a 45 minute drive for me to be rewarded during the summer. We were camping in the area and came here for lunch one day. Pretty standard Chinese menu, but the prices were decent. I got the Kung Po Chicken and was surprised at the amount of chicken. It wasn't a few pieces hidden under some soggy stir-fry. My wife got something; I don't remember. But, she's of that ethnicity and found her food to be very good! Having made several visits to my hometown over the years, our must have was always the pizza next door. We had known this restaurant was next door for a long time, but never tried it. Love this place! It's a family business and they really give you large portions for your food and for a cheap price! The food comes out hot and delicious. Family and I came to Manistique to visit Kitch-iti-kipi (Big Spring). We wanted Chinese food and just came upon China King on the main drag through town. This is a casual, very small (6 tables) restaurant. We were there after 7pm on a Sunday and were the only eat-in diners but 3-4 people came for take-out while we were there. The menu is extensive, with the typical choices you expect to see in a Chinese restaurant. We had Kung pao chicken, cashew chicken, chicken Lo mein, hot and sour soup and won ton soup. Al of the food was delicious! Not only was it good, each dish had its own distinct flavor (I've eaten at several Chinese restaurants where all the food tastes pretty much the same!). Portions are generous, and each of our dinners came with a large freshly-fried egg roll. I took nearly half my dinner to go because it was more than I could eat. Self-serve Hot tea and iced sweet tea are available for free. The kitchen looks larger than the dining area and is partly open to the dining area. Even though the kitchen is big, it appeared to be just the wife and husband doing everything, from greeting, serving and cooking. They save costs by using plastic utensils (though we were offered real silverware), and food is served in "to-go" containers whether you eat in or take out. We didn't care about this though because the food was so good and the entire restaurant (including the bathroom) was exceptionally clean. Even though they were being frugal with the lack of real plates, on the way out the door, there was a sign next to a bin of sauces inviting us to help ourselves to any extra sauces. The entire emphasis here was on cleanliness and good food and for that reason I give it 5 stars. We weren't looking for a fancy restaurant, just good food and we found it here! read more
