Surprised this place has 2 stars I've loved it for years and they have takeout! The staff are amazing and friendly, it has a nice ambience and the food is great! Every time I go there I get sushi rolls, beef wontons, egg rolls, the roast chicken (OMG), mixed vegetables, and either heir hot and sour soup or Their wonton soup. My friends and old coworker love their egg drop as well. Great place to pick up from on lunch break, a casual bite, a chill date night, dinner with friends, and family. Great prices too!! read more

Look, it's your typical OG midwestern Chinese buffet. The food is warm, basic but good. What more should you expect? They have to go packaged at the door and you can make your own To-go order and walk out the door in minutes. Brilliant. Service is what you'd expect. No one is going above and beyond for you. It's a 90 degree day today, they put us in the hottest room in the restaurant. The general Tso chicken had gristle in it, the other chicken was hard. I ate less than half a plate (barely filled). The food on the buffet wasn't fresh. The plates are dirty, as are the silverware. There were fans on every light, and none of them were working. The cashier was obviously not caring about her job in the least. She didn't even care that we ate very little. She also didn't care that the heat was enough in the room that we were literally getting sick from it. She offered no discount at all. The place has zero AC. It was the absolute worst experience I've had ever there. My wife actually threw up, and I am still nauseous. We went to McDonald's afterwards and honestly at least McDonalds was a better experience. The only plus of the Chinese restaurant is we got 2 fortune cookies, and that's not to say much. read more

Do not waste your money nor time here! Worst food, people are RUDE, no air conditioning, 90 degrees in there no fans working. Plates are dirty on buffet, food sits on buffet til close... never replaced. Have gotten sick 3x.... notified girl/manager at desk of all above: no discount given NO ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT RIGHT! Much of their food is pretty good and average for Chinese Buffet/Take out. This review is about their Mongolian Beef or should I say Mongolian Onions. The flavor is really good and the beef is very tender but they put too many onions in it. Take a look at the picture. This dish would be better with more Beef snd less onions. It's not an issue if you eats their buffet as you can pick the right ratio there but not take out. read more

I used to love to go there. Food was always good. The last 2 times I've gone something was off. The very last time I went, I was eating my egg roll and it tasted a little different. I kept chewing and it was like rubber, I grabbed my napkin and spit it out. It was raw meat in my egg raw. I ask my server over, who didn't speak emblazoned she went and got the lady at the front desk and I showed her my raw meat and all she said was "okay, go get you another one" I said I think you netted tell your cook too cook his food longer or to not put raw chicken in an egg roll. Who puts chicken in an egg roll anyway? I think they should have at least have me half off my meal that I couldn't even eat after that. They never even offered a free drink for me. I won't go back. It had been some time since I have been here, went a couple weeks ago and it was surprisingly decent, so we gave it another try last night - food was not as good, luke warm at best, wontons soggy. That's not what got the one star review, it was that I ordered and ice tea and they brought me water. No big deal until I was cashing out and the cashier argued with me and yelled at server who then went over and smelled my glass and still proclaimed it was ice tea. This happened several times and I can assure you it was not ice tea as an avid ice tea drinker. I was so taken back over the grief I was receiving over $1.65 difference in the bill. I tipped accordingly and now I regret that decision and even going there. Will never go back. read more

Took the family here for dinner tonight. I was not pleased. They seemed busy, so we gave them a try. We were seated and noticed the floor at our table was dirty. Took my son to the bathroom and it didn't look like it had been cleaned in quite some time. The floor throughout the restaurant was greasy. The food was in a large variety but everything was overcooked and basically mushy. The shock came when our bill for three adults and two young children was well over $50, and two of us drank waters. I love coming in to to get Chinese food. I love that I can eat as much as I want to eat. I love the vegetable fried rice. The only complaint I have is that the food is sometimes cold but that happens with buffet style food. I would recommend Hong Kong buffet to my friends and family. read more

I am giving one star but it should be zero. We walked in and were seated without knowing the prices. My husband asked the man at the front desk what the price was and he said "this is Chinese buffet" so he asked again and this time the man got angry and spoke Chinese to another employee and they laughed while looking at us. We should have left right then but we were traveling and were tired and hungry. To get to the point, the food was horrible and overpriced, the restaurant was dirty and the people who run this place are racist. DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!!! read more

I don't normally publicly complain about poor business practices but this is the second time my MOTHER was snapped at by the self-proclaimed OWNER of the Hong Kong Buffet in Marquette, Michigan. Unfortunately for him this time it was directly in front of me. When we were guided to a table, my mom asked if we could please be seated at a booth. He snapped at her, telling her "No, if you want to eat, this is where you will sit." Mom proceeded to sit down. I stood right where I was and told him flat out that he will not speak to my mother in such a manner, and told mom that we needed to leave because we will not give our business to someone that treats their customers like that. The previous incident consisted of my mom letting him know that she was a senior citizen and that my daughter was 7 years old. He snapped at her and told her how he billed her was none of her business that she just needs to eat. Sadly mom still stayed, ate and paid her bill I am sick and tired of people thinking that they can treat others in such a manner and still expect their business or any body else's. I'm not asking anyone to boycott or picket. I Just want people informed of the business practices of a restaurant that has no respect or manners for their customer base. So please share the heck out of this...just so people know what kind of business they are supporting when they sit down or call in an order to this restaurant. read more

Don't eat at the Honk Kong Buffet in Marquette! Today just me and 2 children. Called an hour before to check the price, the guy said $7 something for adults and $3 something for children. I had one full plate and the two kids picked at their plates. I was in shock when we got our bill of $25. I went up to dispute it and the guy was rude and said $12 something for adults and $6 something for children on Sundays. I asked to speak to the manager and he kept refusing to give me the managers name and then he said the manager is not in. Then he tells me that ALL Chinese restaurants have higher prices on Sundays. I told him that's not what I'd been told over the phone an hour before, and he denied ever having spoken to me on the phone. The customer behind me was pissed that she had been overcharged too and tried to convince him to lower our bills. Then the cashier guy threw his hands in the air and started freaking out and saying would you like me to call the police to have them sort it out? That place is run by crooks! And the food wasn't worth $5 let alone $25. read more

Standard American Chinese buffet. Tasty food, clean with a friendly staff. Will be back the next time I'm in MQT and craving Chinese.

I'm always willing to give an Asian buffet a chance, but to tell you the truth, I've been more disappointed than satisfied. Not with Hong Kong Buffet. Each dish was prepared with same care as if you ordered it new. Even though the food was offered buffet style, each dish was still hot, the meat was juicy, and the seafood was still perfectly prepared. That's really hard to do and most buffets fail, but not this one. The fish was flakey. The shrimp was tender. The meat was flash fried, searing in the flavor and leaving the meat tender. The facilities were clean and the wait staff was attentive. Don't think just because you're in a small city that the Chinese food isn't good. This place was among the best Asian buffets I've been to, and I've been to a lot of them all over the country. Enjoy! read more

We have never been treated so rudely anywhere before , came in with a table of six food was cold asked for it to be warmed Manager owner freaked out on us , Started yelling , kept coming back yelling , actually scared my grandson. was there with grandma great grandma and auntie poppa and grammy we are all nice people this man treated us like crap ordered us out to never return all because we complained that food was cold . Typical buffet style "Chinese" restaurant. It's selection is okay, but lunch prices are much better than dinner prices. If you want to save some cash and get full, this is a great place for lunch. read more
