The food and the service were both great! We were there thanksgiving weekend and they had the cutest Santa hats fitted onto the backs of their chairs. Food took a while to come out and only one dish at a time. For our family of 6, that meant that most people's food would be cold if you're waiting for everyone to be served before you eat. While waiting for the food I was mesmerized by the sweets being made on the TV. Only thing I would change is I would recommend they get a heated space for dishes to stay warm while waiting for others to be made. The place: Inside, there's room for maybe 15 people? There are some tables that have half-booth seats (one of my favorites), a couple floating tables and a couple full booths. There is *so much* original art. On the way to the bathrooms, you can see some lovely sketches of cats and chalk art on the walls. My favorite art piece is three lucky cats holding up a colorful fish; it makes me smile so much. The location: From the outside, it looks like it would be a counter service fast food place, but don't let that fool you! Teriyaki Bowl shares a parking lot with the Starbucks and Game Stop. It can be a little tight, but we've never had a problem finding parking. The food/drink: - Thai tea - sweet and refreshing. You can order with boba if you like, but just ice was good for me! - Eggplant lover stir fry - this past trip to Teriyaki Bowl, there was a special that featured eggplant. I have a weakness for eggplant and this did not disappoint. The sauce was flavorful and the eggplant was perfectly cooked. I had a choice of protein, so chose tofu which is cooked so it's beautiful on the outside and creamy on the inside. And y'know, white rice isn't anything special often, but something about the white rice was perfect for what I was craving. It was truly perfect. - Ube cheesecake - taken to go, the cheesecake was swoon worthy. It was a perfect portion. Highly recommend. ***I had a 3 spice level on my first visit. I'm not a slouch (I don't think?) when it comes to spice, but 3 for me was just on the edge of discomfort. A 2 spice level was *perfect.* Don't be afraid to be humble because they are SERIOUS about their spice. The service: Lovely. It's very clear that Teriyaki Bowl is a popular Marquette staple, but that only enhanced how impressed I was that we got personal attention. The food had good taste, but the general chicken never comes with enough sauce to even coat the egg noodles. There is sauce on the chicken but the noodles are just one sticky clump with no sauce. Disappointing considering it was almost $16 plus a tip on top of that l, and the noodles ended up in the trash. Talk about a VERY pleasant surprise! This place is DELICIOUS!!! My friends and I were traveling through town during our Autumn Leaf Viewing Extravaganza and were disappointed with the seemingly poor restaurant choices before us. Being veg-heads, burger joints and the like just aren't our thing. Needing a cuppa at the 'Bucks, we took a chance and popped into Teriyaki Bowl just a few doors down. Did I mention how DELICIOUS the food is here? Well, let me reiterate that foundational fact - get thyself in here and enjoy! I chose the Basil Eggplant entree (with fried tofu), along with a pot of Thai Spiced Tea, and was in tastebud heaven. I've eaten my fair share of all things fried tofu, and I have to say that I've never had it prepared better. Light and flavorful, it melded perfectly with the veggies and the sauce tied it all together. Our entire table, in fact, made a symphony of yummy noises during our entire meal. So we traveled up this way to do some hiking and sight see for the weekend. We decided to try this place since it was near our hotel and they have great reviews. The food was soo good, we came back twice! We dined in the first time and ordered take out the second time. The salmon teriyaki and duck teriyaki bowls are really good. The dumpling soup is excellent! The broth is very flavorful and that's what makes the soup excellent! Wish we can get this back in the metro Detroit area. I just had a great meal here. The place was empty and super clean. Even the sauce bottles on the tables were all lined up and full. At first I thought the menu was a bit small, but once you pick from rice and a few different noodles, and tofu, chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp, you have many different options. I started with an order of egg rolls that came out very fast. They were delicious. I also ordered the Spicy Basil with chicken over rice. Everything tasted super fresh. I got the choice of heat level from 1 to 5. 3 was just right for a late lunch, but I could have had a 4 or 5. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. They have absolutely amazing food and service here. I have absolutely nothing other than good things to say about this restaurant. The customer service is great, and the people here are so insanely nice. The restaurant itself has a very homely, comforting aesthetic. Their teriyaki chicken bowls are absolutely delicious, I'd also recommend a teriyaki beef bowl or crab rangoons. I've become a regular. Over all a great experience here. read more

For my main meal I chose the "General Chicken Sesame" from the specials board. I did technically order it over noodles, not rice, but when it got delivered it was a "what the heck" decision to just eat it anyway. I ordered a "1" on the spice level and for me I'm glad I did because when the sriracha first hit my lips it was an instant heat wave. As I kept eating and throwing in the green onion, lettuce and cilantro, the heat started to mellow. I will definitely be going back here. I am not a huge fan of the random Chinese and oriental restaurants in the area, because they always taste over greasy and packed with frozen ingredients. Everything from the Teriyaki Bowl tasted fresh, and other than the sauces you can literally see every fresh ingredient used to make your dish. This was the worst presentation and tasting food I have tried so far in the U.P. I am very disappointed. The crab wantons were cold but good that is the only thing I could eat feom here. I spent over $50 and had to throw everything out. The teriyaki beef was disgusting and I had vegetables with it and I guess to them that ment a salad under my beef with old brown wilted lettuce. I also ordered pad Thai and it was just mooshy pink nasty noodles nothing else. I will warn anyone that eats here just go to McDonald's. read more

This is my favorite place to eat in Marquette. Pork or tofu Teriyaki bowl with rice noodles, level 5 spicy. Sooooo good. I think they went through a phase a couple years back where it wasn't as good. Food was cold, they forgot my crab ragoons, not once but twice !! When my mother and i called to complain about the service. Just went to Teriyaki Bowl. The inside has a really comfortable atmosphere, employees are extremely nice and friendly. I ordered the beef teriyaki bowl to go. When I got home to eat it my head nearly exploded in rainbows it was so delicious. It was spicy but sweet and the beef was the best that I have ever tasted. Will definitely be going back (hopefully tomorrow!) So disappointed. I ordered Pad Thai (no spicy) and it had some sort of reddish-orangish sauce on it . . . I think it was sweet and sour sauce. It was terrible. I ordered on my phone via yelp. I later went directly to their website on my computer and Pad Thai wasn't even an option. So I think they might have ran out of something to make it correctly? They could have let me know. And I just noticed a review below from yesterday saying the Pad Thai was just pinkish noodles. I wish I would have read this initially! Ugh. read more

K.I.S.T- keep it simple and tasty This is what this place does. Selection is small, but good. Environment is quaint and fun yet relaxed and comfortable Staff was attentive and when they were out of what was needed for my order they were able to suggest something similar and knew what I was looking for that day according to my original order. Only complaint is it was somewhat blandish- almost like pre-cooked for some things.
